The players in China have a great deal of freedom. The allocation of time is according to themselves. It seems to be a great football nation except for some scandal.

qaulity of football is definitley not up there, even compared to other asian leagues. The Chinese Super League has a number of imports which help add diversity to the game.

I would say its top 6 Asian Leagues behind J-League (best asian league) K League, Iran, UAE & Saudi leagues.

I know that for having a 1+ billion people it's pathetic to not be able to find 11 players that will make a competitive team :p

相信我, 你不要看:-D

Chinese football is nowhere near as good as it should be.

I lived in China for about a year total. I was there until about a month ago. While I was there, the Wuhan football club left the Chinese league in protest. It was something about one of its players being handed a suspension too harsh for a foul. There was a lot of talk in the Chinese language publications about disbanding the entire league, and about how the whole thing is based on corruption.

Just like everything else in China, there's a lot of hype and not a lot of substance. Chinese football has been hyped up for the last few decades, and we're still waiting for it to come to fruition. I'd recommend trying to catch CCTV-5 streams whenever you can to get a feel for what the sport is like over there, but you probably won't be very impressed.

If you want a challenge, try playing as a Chinese club in Football Manager. I did that until I realized that all my good players were signing foreign deals as soon as they possibly could. It's frustrating.

I know that they have 11 players on each team and a football.

So about the same as an average Man Utd fan knows about the premiership.

Wow, you're original. The funny thing is that a good number of football fans in China are............you guessed it - Liverpool fans. Your brethren, it seems.

I expected a rapid progress in chinese football after 2002 World Cup but nothing like this happend. There must be some obstacle which obstructs development. And WCQ 2010 appearance is a shame in my opinion.

lol hibby :D

i guess china has bigger problems than football, but with the amount of investment at some clubs, history in asian football and statistical advantage, you would expect more.. i used to blame the asian football as a whole for lack of competitiveness and prestige, but that has been improving.. also, looking at australia's recent results, it's should be possible to build a prestigious competitive league that will be a base for national team.. one thing is for sure, there can't be any lack of fan support.. am i right? :D

I will add this -- match fixing sure is a big problem there. I was in China when the Wuhan side folded in protest about a year ago. Honestly, China is a long way from catching up with the quality of football in South Korea and Japan.
