For those who live in Tokyo,

Do you know a place where people randomly gather to play football on a frequent occassion??

Nothing organised, somewhere people can randomly play football with one another??

Looks like not many ppl actually look in these parts of the board.

Anyway I'll ask a different question. Are there many places in Tokyo where people gather to watch football? How's the television coverage there? Is it limited? Because to my knowledge Japan has never been a country that's very keen on football. They seem to be more interested in their baseball.

It's mostly baseball here, coz its coveraged on TV everyday.
Not many people actually watch or even follow european football apart from the odd headline of someone winning the championsleague or the epl.
There are some people who follow it, and gather at sports pubs in Roppongi in Tokyo, not sure about other parts of Japan.

So how's the TV coverage like? EPL, CL, Serie A or La Liga?

For an active forum on J.Soccer you must go to bigsoccer.com or that of Rising Sun News (google it).

There used to be a lot of Iranian and Afghani immigrants play on the weekend at Yoyogikoen.

i dont live in tokyo but live in Japan (yokohama city..not far from tokyo)

actually there are many people who plays football in school, college, etc..
you might have to join to the team to play..

J league games used to be broadcasted on regular Japanese channel on TV every weekend before but not anymore. now only sometime..
instead, recently all the matches of J league we can watch them on cable tv called Skyperfect TV (or E2). on skypefect tv, you can also watch other league matches such as La liga, EPL, CL, Bundesliga, etc

Skyperfect tv arent free,though

also there are some pubs in japan (some areas) where shows some football matches (j league, EPL).

There is a Pub in Ikebukuro called HUB, that is modeled after most British Pubs. They always have some form of football on (be it EPL, J-League, Champions League [both AFC and UEFA]).

To get to it, take the Yamanote Line (or any line that goes to the Ikebukuro Station), and go out the South-East entrance. On the surface, hang a right, and look for a sign along side a building when you turn onto the street (it's relatively close to Dubliners in Ikebukuro if you know where that is).
