Pretty much. He was injured when he transferred to Marseille, which is why I was surprised he passed the medical.

i thought the injury was suffered during the first friendly he played in...

anyhow, its Lopez who's making the splash early from the ex Porto boys;)

I don't know, maybe, but he did had knee surgery following the Portuguese Liga season.

How do injured players pass a medical? what steps go into that?

For instance, same thing for Alberto Auqilani's transfers to Liverpool even though he's injured.

Lucho was one of Portista's favorite players, very loyal to the club and would wear his heart on the sleeve. Classy player, I hope he has an outstanding season and continues to be called by Maradona.:)

what do you mean? they pass the medicals because the clubs know of the injury, and still take the risk on the player.
in AA's case Pool feel they diagnosed the problem in his ankle and that once fit it wont be an issue. (a bit silly if you ask me as its been a reoccurring injury over his short career)

its not as if the clubs dont know of the injuries.

however, in Lucho's case it didnt matter. he was fit, and then in Marseille's preseason matches re injured the knee i think and then was out for a bit.


meanwhile, the other ex Porto player Lopez has been stealing all the headlines. ;)
