Get a look at this beating we are putting on Anderlecht. :D I haven't seen the club play like this since Perrin.

oh boy Anderlecht suck, no wonder they were knocked out by BATE Borisov last year, they're awful, Boulogne sur Mer would probably win the Belgian league :p
anyway, nice to see Pjanic in the starting line up, and Makoun, Boumsong and Ederson relegated to the bench, it took Puel 2 years to get the right team it seems :p

I'd say Dunkerque could win it. At least they are closer to the border. :D
Great performance overall. 10/10. Let's just hope we apply this to Auxerre this weekend. On and cheer for Guingamp tomorrow. :D :o

Yeah, I heard from friends that Bordeaux played well. Will be catching a replay. :o for Marseille. They had Milan in the second half. Should of scored multiple times.

Really unlucky for Marseille but I guess that's what happens when you don't have any decent strikers. Niang is a great player but he's not a striker, and Brandao...well there's a reason why Shakhtar were happy to let him go. oh and Cheyrou had yet another great game, I hope whoever will replace Domenech will realize what a talented player he is, more than ToulaLENT imo

All three French clubs win in Champions League. Got to be a first. :p Funny penalty by Gourcuff. Wonder what he was trying to pull. Anyway, both Lyon and Bordeaux in first place. A draw against Bayern in two weeks and a victory over Maccabi will surely put Bordeaux through. Would love to see Gourcuff face Milan in the knockout rounds. Just wishful thinking.

so every French club won in Europe...except for the usual chokers ToLose :p I hope they never qualify for Europe ever again, how can you spend the whole season trying to get a European spot, and then once you're in a European competition play with the reserves?!

All three French clubs win in Champions League. Got to be a first. :p
a first ? let me jog your memory:
champions league 2004/2005 edition
3rd round
Fenerbahçe 1-3 Lyon
Monaco 2-1 Olympiakos
PSG 2-0 FC Porto
... and to be frank, that qualifying round was way more rewarding for french clubs than the 2009/2010 one.

get your facts straight, Fenerbahçe and Porto from 2004/2005 edition were stronger than Liverpool and Bayern from this year (according what they showed lately at least), that's why i'm saying this was more rewarding..

what on Earth was the keeper doing all the way out there for Chamakh's goal?
makes me sad, as Bordeaux was a club Roma easily dispatched 2-0 in Rome, and 1-3 Roma in France. and look where they and we are now...:(
good for them to get thru tho, about time Lyon had some company in there

Marseille and Lille were very nice service to Lille, the victory was deserved I think, through their collective, they have managed to score a decisive goal late in the game. Landreau but also to a great game.
When in Marseille, the tie is logical, after many occasion that he took during the meeting, they managed to snatch a draw after regulation time. I found that French clubs are very good this season is whether Europa League or Champions League.

Yeah, it'll certainly get people to look at Ligue 1 a bit more closely now (but thanks Fox Sports International for removing Ligue 1 from your programming), but what happens if Lyon and Marseille, currently out of the CL places, don't make it next year? Things are still incredibly close but do you think Auxerre and Montpellier will be able to make the same sort of noise in the CL next season, should they secure a berth?
And with Bordeaux set to lose Chamakh and, perhaps, Gourcuff after the WC, could Ligue 1 see another short spell in the CL and be wiped right off the radar again.
If nothing else it's drumming up interest in the league (which unfortunately nobody here will be able to watch without streams unless Fox perhaps see an opportunity there and add it again) which is always good.

Bordeaux deservedly qualification. According to Lyon, Bordeaux who is qualified to the quarter-final, I think this is the first time since 2004 that two French club qualifies. I think that the championship of France is changing, increasingly, they are making a strong impression on the European scene from year to year.

Do you see Bordeaux's up coming schedule? Blanc will surely be focused on Lille this week as will Puel be on Marseille, but Blanc will then have to shift to Marseille in the Coupe de la Ligue final five days later, while Puel will probably bench a few key starters for Grenoble using his preferred style of getting an early goal and dropping everyone back. :p Then it will be the first leg of the quarters. Blanc will undoubtedly play his starters in both the Lille match and Marseille match. Have a feeling they won't be up for the first leg, especially if the CDL final goes to extra time and it will be all about whether Puel and the boys can take advantage of that.

I think Bordeaux will rest a few players for the CDL final and bring on Gourcuff, Chamakh etc if they're not winning, but more importantly, it's also a great opportunity for Marseille to go top of the league

Montpellier got knocked out by some Hungarian team LOL! They're even bigger chokers than Toulouse.
Auxerre will play against Zenit in the CL play off round, so I think it's safe to say Auxerre will not be in the CL this season.
PSG have been drawn against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Europa League, hopefully the Israelis will knock them out and there won't be dead supporters this time... Lille will play against Vaslui.

Ugh. Excuses. Marseille are simply not a good European team. Now they have to get at least a point from Chelsea, six from Zilina, and another in Russia.

group of death unfortunately... if I were an Auxerre fan, I would be happy with a point or two at the end of the group stages. if I'm not mistaken, the 4th place team doesn't go the Europa League, right? that seems very unfair because Auxerre could easily progress in that competition.

I'm just hoping to get to see Yaya Sanogo. This is a tough group. Fernandez, sadly, should know Auxerre have no chance of even making it to the Europa League. At least give Sanogo a chance to play against some top sides.
Ligue 1 clubs in the European season of 2011-12:
Marseille - I'd say 50-50 chances to beat Inter in the Champions League round of 16
Lyon - 66% chances to advance in the Champions League, against APOEL
Lille - decent job for their first time ever in the CL, I was disappointed though not to see them go through for at least the Europa League knock-out stage
And speaking of the Europa League, it was a terrible season for Ligue 1:
- terrible performance by PSG
- disappointing results for Rennes, admittedly in the toughest group
- Sochaux got out in the preliminaries, against Metalist Kharkiv
Could be damaging for Ligue 1's coefficient?
