Hannover's first goal: Most of the time, when there's a free kick in a position like that, the ref signals both the defenders and attacking team that he'll allow play to continue via blowing the whistle. He's however not obliged to blow the whistle to restart the match. Apparently, he asked Schlaudraff whether he wanted to have the opponent place a wall - Schlaudraff said no, the ref let play continue, Schlaudraff made the best of the situation and scored. Markus Merk, for a long time one of the best German refs said afterwards that the ref in the match made a mistake, apparently signaling that he'd blow the whistle to indicate play continuing. The ref himself said that he doesn't need to blow the whistle and did nothing wrong. I haven't really watched the replay closely enough to judge if it looked like he signaled that he'd blow the whistle... It was quite unusual anyways ;)

Solbakken said something about distributing the weight of the club on more shoulders. I can't understand the decision though. Noone would have complained if Poldi kept the armband. Now he created some - in my opinion - unnecessary talking point and potential tension between the players. Not sure if that's something you really wanna do ;)

Can we get a new goalie, please? :p

completely agree on the podolski issue, unnecessary...

maybe you lot should buy ter stegen? :D

couple of seasons ago messi scored an identical freekick although i think there wasn't any debate about the referee's gestures

Thanks.It's hard to watch Sportchau,for example,without speaking german :p

Yeah,i asked that because it's clear that the ref point to his whistle but then allow the free kick without blowing it  Pretty confused,UEFA should make a rule about that.

About the goalie.Maybe the Leverkusen goalie can help you :D I tried to watch the Mainz x Leverkusen game but it was so boring that i gave up at halftime.Where's Leverkusen coach comes from?Never had seen him in my life.Mainz and Leverkusen both look weaker

leverkusen's coach is named Robin Dutt (replaced heynckes who went to munich), he was freiburg's coach for the last couple of seasons and helped them getting promoted into 1st bundesliga as well as last season's result (which i think was the best in their history or sth like that)

He did a good job with Freiburg but Leverkusen is in a different level

A lot of work to be done

There's a rumour circulating around locally that Schalke, Stuttgart and Koln are interested in Malaysian international striker, Safee Sali. We're all quite excited about this possibility here in Malaysia but not too sure of the source of the rumour. Anyone here have any idea about this?

Didn't find anything in German papers or message boards.

I can't really see either Schalke or Stuttgart going for a 27 year old striker that's 1.72m and play in the Malaysian league. Köln with Finke being the chief of sports ... who knows.

Transfermarkt doesn't list any rumors so noone in Germany has ever heard of him (I guess ;) ).

I'm not too sure of the rumour either but the guy is a proven goalscorer in the box and I certainly think he could cut it in Europe. Maybe not right at the top, but he could certainly do a job for lower midtable team. At any rate, he deserves a bigger platform than the Indonesian league IMO.

"Bild" had a look at Magath's penalty scale: €100 for every minute delay, €250 for headphones in the team bus, €10.000 for not ... (1/2)

tracking back after losing the ball, €1000 for an unnecessary back pass, €500 for letting a ball bounce instead of immediate control. (2/2)

This guy's nuts

It's quite shocking. Probably in violation of European labour law. As a player I wouldn't stand for it, but more importantly as a club owner I wouldn't stand for it.

If Volkswagen would treat their "normal"employees like that, a real shit storm would be coming their way. And VFL Wolfsburg, the professional football team at least, is a fully owned subsidiary of Volkswagen. I don't think they like how this reflects onto them.

And also, it shows a real lack of imagination on Magath's part when it comes to motivational tactics. He always was a little on the strange side, but somewhere on his way from Wolfsburg to Schalke he must have lost his mind.

I think he lost it on the way from Stuttgart to Buyern a few years ago myself!
It blows my mind that the Buyern brass put up with him for as long as they did.

I really like what Stanislavski is doing with Hoffe. Against Buyern (LOL) he really kept every one of those attack minded players really quiet, especially Kross - not sure where he went, but it wasn't anywhere near the Rhein Necker stadium. He's got Firmino really motivated and playing well, Fabian Johnson too, but for some reason, he, like his predecessor, seems to have a blind spot regarding Babel. Exciting times though.
