Im surprised we dont have a thread for La Liga I usually do no discuss any other team other than my own.

Spain - Primera Division
January 21
FT Espanyol 3 - 0 Granada
FT Racing Santander 1 - 2 Getafe
FT Real Sociedad 0 - 4 Atletico Madrid
FT Real Betis 1 - 1 Sevilla

Wow Diego Simeone has really turned Atletico's season. 2 fine results and a clean sheet. How can a manager work that quick?

^ And it was against Real Sociedad, who are quite good. Looking forward to the highlights.

So, Real with a 7 point lead atop the table now. Shite performance from Barca, Tello looked like their best player in his fifteen minute appearance. Cesc blew two chances pretty bad

Real concede first then rally again. Sunday Times reports Mou is leaving the club  seems a bit unbelievable at this time.

The league is done. Similar to when Real drew 0-0 at the Riazor last year.

Re: Mourinho leaving. It's possible that it's just a convenient leak. A power consolidating move. When news like this comes out, there'll be a thousand articles by people in England fawning over JM and linking him to all manner of clubs. (As far as they're concerned, JM single-handedly won the the title by playing all 11 positions on the field at the same time). That gives him more leverage after a week in which he was given a hard time in the Spanish media.

Another win and another clean sheet for Simeone, nicely done Cholo.

Anyone catch the Athletic v. Espanyol match? Pretty awesome game, ended up 3-3. Romaric and Weiss (especially Weiss) scored with nice longer shots. Llorente and Martinez with good headers. Fun 5 v 6 game. Coutinho had a few nifty touches in his first appearance for Espanyol.

I think I saw that 17 or 18 of the starters from last nights Barca-Real game were youth academy graduates from their respective teams, pretty impressive stat. Tello gave his third straight very good appearance for the first team.

What does it say about La Liga when Atletico can come within striking distance of CL spots after Diego coaching them after what, 4 -5 games? Lots of team are dropping points and yet Levante still 4th.

It's terrible. 10 points between Levante in 4th and Racing in 18th. Heck if Villarreal keep improving, they might still have chance of getting European football.

Athletic and Espanyol are doing well but the reality is that regardless of which team finishes 4th, they're going to struggle in the Champions League next season.

I'll take Athletic for 4th and with a little funds to tinker with his squad, anything can happen Bielsea is the major piece.

Obviously Athletic is already a tough team to beat, but watch them next season. If he's already doing this with them now, next season will be even crazier.

I've always wondered what Bielsa could do with a team that had unlimited funds like Real Madrid or now with Manchester City. Bielsa coaching this current Real Madrid with some of the attacking players they have would honestly scare the crap out of me. Or Manchester City, holy crap.

It says that Simeone is pulling off a Martin O'Neill :D

Quite frankly, I'd rather see Atletico and Athletic in the CL than Espanyol & Levante or anyone else for that matter.
