View Full Version : Copa Libertadores *2012* ***Spoliers for ALL Matches***
First round started this week, figured some people on here probably watch it.
Flamengo just played pretty shitty to lose 2-1 in Bolivia in the first leg of the play in games. I was watching on a pretty crap stream, but when they subbed off Deived for Negueba they played with Dinho up top essentially. Was pretty weird to watch him be the target for crosses, unsurprisingly unsuccessful.
Damiao scored to give Inter a 1-0 advantage.
Other first leg results
Arsenal 3 Sport Huancayo 0
El Nacional 1 Libertad 0
Union Espanola 1 UANL 0

Arsenal defeated Sport Huancayo 3-0 in Argentina. They could find themselves in the same group as Boca, Zamora and Fluminense. Already looking forward to the Boca/Fluminense matches. I don't like Arsenal, though and Zamora I know nothing about.
Santos could end up with Internacional in their group. Santos will have to recover from that bad season they had. Inter is building a pretty strong team. One with experience as well.
U. de Chile with Penarol and Godoy Cruz... what a group that could be. Not that Godoy Cruz is that good, but the matches between U. de Chile and Penarol would be pretty fun to watch.
Should be a good tournament.

Tigres get your shit together.............paper champions
Flamengo with a good half, tons of chances (especially good shots by Bottenili and Renato and two great services from Moura crosses), finally got one off a good Ronaldinho set piece headed in by Leo Moura. Dinho won his battle to get Luxemburgo fired earlier today I believe and he's actually sprinted a few times so far this game, he must be quite excited.
Inter apparently in a shootout, 2-2 at half in their match, 3-2 agg.

Joel Santana taking over it seems. This must be like the 10th time he's going to coach Flamengo?!
Ronaldinho!!!! with the 98th minute sealer. Flamengo through 3-2 agg :D
Moura a beast on the night. Inter through as well

To be fair to Real they came back well in the second half and almost nicked a goal back, that second yellow fucked them though.

I saw the highlights. It did not look like an easy match for Flamengo. I have a feeling they won't go far in the Libertadores this year. But they have a pretty easy group with Juan Aurich and The Strongest, with Santos being the toughest team for them in the group. Sorry Zicao, but I don't think you guys will be going far this year. Especially considering their lack of success in this tournament.
Caracas versus Penarol is tonight, though Penarol won the first match 4-0, so unless Caracas pulls off a huge upset, Penarol is going through.
The other is Deviant's team Tigres :p versus Union Espanola. 1-0 Espanola in the first leg.
The two teams which I think will go far are Boca and Internacional. If Riquelme stays healthy for Boca and plays like he did in the last torneo, Boca's winning it. Their D is very solid, Orion is a good goalkeeper, but they could have problems scoring goals. Inter has an experienced side and Damiao could have a break-out performance for them, so we'll see.

Don't get tied up my friend, not only are they going far, they are going to win the whole damn thing!!!!!!!
Flamengo has been going thru a few internal problems, which has in turn caused very low moral within the team. Alex Silva refused to go to Bolivia for the away game (he has been removed from the team and is being sold), the whole issue with Ronaldinho and Traffic, payments due for royalties (Not salaries), and a few players had issues with Luxa and vice versa....all these issues are being sorted out, plus a couple great signings (Marcos González from Universidad de Chile, and Vagner Love)....and realize that these two games against Real Potosi were the first games the first team has played since December.
looks like "Papai" Joel is coming back (Luxa was fired this afternoon), and today they are rumors that Nilmar might end up at Flamengo after negotiations with São Paulo broke off..we will wait and see.

Lots of internal problems for sure. Getting Marcos González was a smart signing though. He's experienced and knows how to go deep in tournaments (obviously just won the Sudamericana). Vagner Love, I just never saw what was so good about him. For me, always a decent striker at best.
The thing about Flamengo and obviously the rest of the Brasilian teams is how much they are willing to sacrifice to win the tournament. Even though Santos won it last season, their league season was horrible. They were even in the relegation zone for a while. And with the league there becoming more and more competitive (as opposed to the Argentine league for example), they will have to sacrifice alot if they want to go deep. As if the Libertadores wasn't tough enough.
I'm going to stick with Boca or Inter winning though. Teams always find it extremely tough to play at the Bombonera.

true...and the hard part for all the Rio teams (Fla/Flu/Vasco) in the Libertadores.......NO MARACANÃ! That sucks big time, it's basically a loss of a pressure environment for other teams. They will all play at Engenhão, and that is only 40K, big big difference.
Nobody capping the Copa Libertadores games on fbtz?

Atletico Nacional definitely the most eye-catching team this year that I've seen.
