It's back, and it's bad. Since the FA Charged MaXxed with XYZ, and he decided to remove the threads, I thought why not make it all over again, even if it takes so much time?

What? You really thought I'd let it die in front of my eyes? Sorry. After supporting United for so long, I learnt to never give till the end. Even in the Injury time.

So come on peeps. It might not get as famous like it was before. It might not be full of all the information (I'm working), but I'm in the remaining few weeks of this season, it'll be back to where it belong,I promise.

Cheers.

great game off rooney he was a constant pressure throughout the game ...pulling defenders here there and everywhere...MOM well deserved...he must of had a bet he would be first goalscorer ;) great vision for the assist

nice to see j s park get his first goal in the prem this term...thought he played well till subbed...Vidic outstanding for me (salivating at the thought of how his partnership with rio is going to develop) :D great performance by the whole team ..well proud

wasnt that goal given as an own goal to the fulham player (bocanegra i think)...it took a massive deflection off him if i remember rightly ...think it got took away from park by the dubious goal panel...

Happy to be away from Mansion, even though for me it is still wax floor polish. Mainly because of the reported possible involvements of the club financially with them rather than the shirt sponsorship. I would prefer it if the FA took a similar stance to the NFL.

09-04-2006, 11:49 PM
Quinton is a good utility player and has not looked out of depth whenever he was called up to the first team. i will be sad to see him go. Bolton huh??? Big sam is building a mini african all star team there!!! love it!!! wish him all the best.
If Tim howard leaves who is back up for the aging Van der Saar????

If Tim howard leaves who is back up for the aging Van der Saar????

thats exactly what i was thinking maybe a new goalkeeper in the summer ??
i think it will be foolish to get rid of Howard in the summer for the same reason as you... but he is supposed to be very unhappy at lack of first team chances

think it is an area united need to look at

Neviem
10-04-2006, 06:42 AM
I dont think we need to buy backup golakeeper. Ben Foster is on loan at Watford and he plays really well. We have young Luke Steele, who plays for our reserve team, so I am absolutely not worried about that. We just need to keep faith in our players.

ronalba7
10-04-2006, 09:23 AM
i think luke steele or ben foster can make their first debut next season....or we need to find another keeper to fill the second place. but right now keeper is not our first priority....if u read soccernet news," alex ferguson will have a significant transfer fund and gill has stated that with that sum of fund we have, we will be able to bring midfielder that we need". ......who could it be???

pantlessjim
11-04-2006, 05:59 AM
Personally, I think it would be foolish to get rid of Howard. He will be a class replacement for Van der Sar. He already proved how well he can play his first season. I just think he became unsettled. Personally I am hoping that we can bring in Ballack, but I know that is a one-in-a-million chance. I would have liked to see us sign Gravesen from Madrid in January before he broke into the team, but now he is too valuable to them. And Lord only knows whats going on with Obi Mikel, but as far as I am concerned he can fuck off. Sell him to Chel$ki for some ridiculous price, and spend it on someone worth while.

yup parkys first goal on sun delighted for him and he deserves the praise he is a great team player and imo alot harder working that ronaldo. The atmosphere as was said in OT was great on sun my last home game to go to this season:( ahh well had a 100 percent record with all the games i went to. Now on to the tranfer talk sad to see quinton leave but he is gettin on and i cant really see him gettin a first team place or place on bench any time soon more so if we bring in more players in summer. As for howard i think its only fair to let him go if he is unhappy he needs to be in a settled first team positon to maintain his international standings too so i will be happy for him if he leaves.

not sure if this has been touched on before but what would u guys think of Esteban Cambiasso joining United? i personally like his style and his ability and he obviously can play at a top club (Madrid-Inter). Plus he's made from teh same mold as Diego Simeone, hard.

Lyon sure knows how to bargain. They know if United don't pay that amount of money Chelsea will. It's either they don't wanna sell or they're just tryin to fool our American friends. I don't think Fergie will be stupid enough to fork out that much fo Diarra. We can have 2 quality midfielders fo that price.

Bayern's Uli Hoeness said the reason why Ballack joined Chelsea is only because of the money. I believe so too, there can't be any other reason. There are better teams that's suited to his style out there, and wit Lampard there also the full potential of Ballack can hardly be materialised. It's a shame really, if he had joined us we would have arguably the best squad in England.

anyone realize how brilliant SAF was on Monday.

He had Ronaldo on the left wing with Park and Neville floating in balls all afternoon. Ronaldo would go to the near post almost every time the ball was in space on the right. I guess he sees how many headed goals Ronaldo scores for Portugal and wanted capitilize on that, since he has almost none for united. Really nice move. Does leave space on the left for the counter, but that is a gap that can be handled.

I don't think he has done it so outright ever before. Ronaldo has been on the left side plenty of times, but to me it seemed that doing that had a larger purpose then just saying "let's give the other team a new look and confuse them a bit."

Your thoughts?

out of the club? like you have a say? he owns it, it isn't your club. it never has been. It is just the club you support. if you don't like it don't buy merchandise and don't add to the tv ratings. everytime you do, you are giving money to the "muppet" to pay off his debt.

glazer is a double edged sword for Man U. he can spend crazy amounts of money to make the club better, but he can also bring crap to the club. he isn't a sports person, so he knows nothing about the game and the heritege. he only cares about the money. so he can bring in stars with the money, but he can also change things to bring in more money. like in a news report stated "you could be sitting in a same seat for twice the price at the new Coke Cola Old Trafford next season"

First, you are correct, I don't have a say because he does own the club. But I did at one point own part of the club. Yes, it was a very small amount, but I still owned part of it. I don't buy merchandise, and if I watch any United game, it is through my computer. I will never pay for or support any Pay-Per-View game that Manchester United is a part of.

i don't want to make a big stink about this, but i find it a bit hypocritical to hammer a gremlin before he has done something wrong. if you are grumpy that he forced you to sell your shares fine, but otherwise it's like saying you hate an ugly dude for dating the girl you obsess over and treating her well. I'm not saying it's out of jealousy I just can't hate a guy who hasn't done anything wrong yet. I'll definately let loose if we don't get a midfielder, but he clearly understands the link between putting out a high quality product, and consumer psychology.

Really all I expect him to do is, keep the pride of the club (keep tradition in tact, i.e. no Coca Cola Old Trafford) and to keep the club competitive with the top of Europe and get out of 20% interest rate debt. That's it.

There are positives about having a single owner in the club. He's definately cut the fat off of uneeded players, and placing them out on loan.

Fergie gets Lippi

By STEVEN HOWARD

MARCELLO LIPPI is being lined up to join Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.

Italy boss Lippi has told friends he will quit after Sunday’s World Cup final.

He is now being linked with a role alongside Old Trafford chief Fergie. And that could see him eventually succeed the Scot.

Fergie is a long-standing friend and huge admirer of the former Juventus manager.

He once said of the Italian: “Just looking into his eyes is enough to tell you he’s in command of himself and his professional domain.”

Ferguson, 64, is expected to relinquish the reins after 20 years in charge at the end of the coming season. Italian sources believe Lippi, 58, could either work in tandem with the United supremo or under him — with Fergie promoted to general manager.

A source close to Lippi said: “He is not looking for a lucrative contract since he has achieved success at the highest level. And working abroad is the only thing that interests him.

“He will not find it diminishing to work either alongside or under another manager.”

13-07-2006, 05:06 AM
Ronaldo isnt going anywhere unless SAF can get a double yer money deal from one of the spanish sides mentioned, or if there is a sudden exodus from Serie A, with Juve, Milan, Fiorentina and Lazio relegated. There isn't anyone else that I can think of that is capable of filling Ronaldo's role on the team that is available and reasonably inexpensive, considering that Spurs are still pondering 15 mil bid for Carrick!

If he can survive the booing from Engerland fans until Xmas, he'll be ok, although he is a sensitive lad.

Also, do English MUFC fans really care about the national team? I know I'd much rather MUFC be successful in the Champions League than England win a World Cup, but hey I'm a Yank, what do I know? It's always been my impression that the Devils were more important than the Three Lions in the grand scheme of things. With the Sven coaching boondoggles, and the England team clearly knackered, there was no way they were going to win it all this year anyway. You would think that with England's defense they would've played a more offensive game and left it to Rio and Terry to make sure there were no slip ups at the back, but whatever.

Personally, I think that SAF will be able to sort out Ronaldo. I don't think that he was responsible for Rooney getting sent off, Rooney was, regardless if it was intentional or not.

The Rooney and Ronaldo saga is all media hype, my opinion.

I wonder if Klinsmann is being lined up as SAF's replacement? He's said he wants to coach in the prem, I think he'd be a good fit at OT. No way is Lippi coming to MUFC.

c.ronaldo going ruud going u guys havent got much of a team atm. Scholes, Giggs Neville and Ole can only get worse Manu's best chance of a trophy next season is probably carling cup and mayb Uefa Cup

My wishlist (in no particular order):

Gattuso
Pirlo
Torres
Ricardo (Angola, not Portugal)
Tevez or Mascherano (or both)

I'm tempted to say Malouda, too. And I really liked Zokora even before the World Cup, but Spurs went ahead and swooped in for him.

On the cheap, I think that Jaziri and Kawaguchi would be decent pickups. And hey, having Ji-Sung around sure would make it easier for a player like Lee Chun-Soo to settle in.

I'd rather United spend a sum of money on a few quality players rather than splurge a huge chunk on one superstar.

And what's this about Rossi struggling in the preseason? :(

Silas
23-07-2006, 06:29 AM
Three trips in the SA in 7 days with inexperienced players maybe got to Rossi. He is super-Quality, but still not 20+ goals Ruud.

bricktop
23-07-2006, 06:32 AM
I think its more important that we solidify the midfield versus solidifying the attack (although idealy, if van Nistelrooy leaves, it would be nice to solidify both areas). if Ruud does leave, I actually wouldn't be that worried about the attack. Rooney is solid, and Saha is as well (granted that he stays fit). Rossi is a great prospect and I think he could have a breakout season sometime in the near future (he has a 1-1 goalscoring ratio in the reserves I believe when he starts, I think he has 53 goals for 53 starts over the past couple seasons or something like that), and I believe that he does have the talent to bring that sort of form into the first team. Ole is nice to have back as well, but unfortunately, he has a lot of problems with injuries, and you never know if he is going to take a bad knock and be out for awhile.

As for the midfield, I think a solid CDM is a must signing this season. Another attacking midfielder would be nice as well (I like Pirlo, but I'm not sure if we can get him), however I do have confidence in Paul Scholes, and when the lad is on his game, he's magnificent.

Have you ever seen anyone drop in form after turning 30 as precipitously as he has, though? I simply cannot recall any one individual player who has lost it as much as he did before he went out. Maybe it was the eye thing that was affecting him. We shall see.

i just can't have kuuze be the last poster in this thread. totally unacceptable

here's a nice little quote i read recently by a pool fan

"...I have just read the story 'Arise Sir Roman, Football Benefactor' By An Anonymous Chelsea Fan. After reading the pathetic drivel that has spewed forth from your supposed grey matter I can see why you wish to remain anonymous. You are a complete w**ker, almost on a par with the ultimate t**t that’s runs your s**t fantasy football team.

I for one am sick of hearing about how great Chelski are. You bought the feckin' title. At least when ManYoo were loathed throughout the land they played attractive, attacking football from home-grown talent rather than spend like Roman (ironic really considering the fortune they have spent in the last few seasons and what have they won?).

Let's all continue to loathe Chelski and all they stand for.
Phil Norris, Liverpool"

i must confess it has taken me awhile to realise fergie is the prob with man utd and i can't believe i used to defend him. But RVN leaving after a supposed bust-up has just confirmed it. He needs to leave the club. Over the past couple of seasons or shud i say ever since 2003 when we stopped winning ANYTHING, he's been saying bullshit year after year like when he said the Carling Cup is a trophy we wanna win. SINCE WHEN DID THE CARLING CUP BECOME A PRIORITY?? and the latest is he wud be perfectly happy if he didn't sign anybody: HE'S OFF HIS HEAD!! A midfield that is non-existent as well as a strike-force with Ruud now gone??..Saha couldn't score 15 goals a season even if the defenders were one-legged cripples..sheesh!! A coup needs to be staged honestly. Fergie has lost focus and motivation.

Look at our players. Unless we have an Arsenal miracle we're not goin anywhere this season!!

Now if only someone like Lippi wud come along and redeem us (sigh)

There was a very hopeful report saying we are going to sign Mascherano AND Carrick! Now that is wishful thinking...We needed to sign a (class)midfielder at least two seasons ago. It still wont help us upfront though...

I have to agree with Rossi but Dong isnt good (ready?) enough for EPL. Manchester United need a good striker (not worldclass) and a Worldclass Midfield.

Perhaps, but he'll provide depth, and with the work permit, he can be fielded in reserve and Cup games, thereby bringing him closer to that "ready enough" point.

I can live with this payout on United's part. Though I'm still not happy with the excessive fee that had to be paid, United already have this amount through transfers..

(Obi Wan - 12 ---> 6 this year, 6 next)
(Ruud - 11....)

So they have 9 remaining from Ruud's transfer to add to whatever there transfer kitty is to go and get someone else.

I'm still hoping that a defensive terminator can get purchased and placed in the midfield as an enforcer.

If they have the funds, go after Mascherano... if they don't, go after Hargreaves...

for all we know, he's worth the money. if he comes in here and creates 20 goals this season for the team, and helps control the midfield while taking pressure off the wingers. I mean shit, at this point we can't really complain.

we complained for 29 pages in the Manchester United Transfer thread, and now that we actually have action, we are complaining again. We lost a 30 year scoring god, but gained a 25 year old world class midfielder, that can create and give us more balance. Which would you rather have?

We aren't chelsea bidding on him, but you have to expect that any player that you want, and want badly enough will cost you to rip away from the current owner. I guess that price is 18. honestly at this point i don't care. Team is more competitive this way, and the cost isn't incredibly high. especially considering the windful of Obi Wan.

I just can't wait to see him link up with Rooney

personally I was hoping for a midfield enforcer... someone who would work there ass off and tackles the shit outta opposing players.

You know, I said this last season when the Alan Smith experiment began. I got a lot of criticism for it, but I honestly believe it can be done.

Wayne Rooney.

And no, I don't believe his creativity would be wasted in that position. I think it'll help him develop an all-round game. Just needs to keep his head straight and his temper in check.

I don't understand why United has such a hardon for Senna... dude is 30. In a couple of seasons, we'll be right back to square one, looking for another midfielder. Why dont' they go after Hargreaves. He's only 25, can play holding midfield as well as upteen other positions very, very well and I think could compliment Carrick & Scholes very well.

Well, I'm not too surprised they're gone. If it's as scorching up there in Manchester as it is here in the Northeast in America, then i can so see him not just cutting them off but shredding them as he clearly has by the evidence in those photos.

we'll live... as long as it's not 3 games...

I still dont' understand why this was reported to the FA... didn't Pool have a similar situation in last years tourney (or was it a couple seasons ago...) and it wasn't forwarded to the FA?

Rooney is going to be in for a tough season... if he looks, touches, runs, jumps, shoots, celebrates, drinks water, coughs, laughs or moans funny he's in for a red card... :D

I think it's silly to ban someone for the start of a season from a sending off in a friendly...not that I would mind in this case ;)

Sir Alex Ferguson has taunted Arsenal, claiming they’ll struggle to fill their new 60,000 capacity Emirates stadium. “I won’t miss Highbury,” Fergie said. “I think it was a run-down stadium. The pitch was too small for top-class football teams and I think it helped Arsenal in Europe in particular. “Moving to a better stadium will help them in the sense that the games will be better and there will be more room to play. “It will be interesting to see what happens when they hit a little bit of a bad spell, whether they’ll still be able to get 60,000 through the gates.” Your thoughts. Are Arsenal trying to punch above their weight? :D :D :D

Don't worry, I will make a new thread with new information (transfers IN and OUT, new team photo and NEXT/LAST match) once the season starts. This thread was for this season, and it will be locked if we request. It will be a new start. You see it was the first TEAM THREAD and then there were many of these Arse/Blues/Russian Blues threads but no one can match this one. Please co-operate.

Kudos to who-ever made this thread. :D  ;) :( :o :p :)

You have my full support.

Thank You. I will try to emulate The Rock's effort.

The only thing I dread is someone else making a half-assed thread and not updating it. It would be a shame, so please have a faith in me. The new one will be better and badder.

just so that you can get banned next week? How about we have Varun make the thread and we just send him the text etc. as opposed to yours or even mine.

I have faith in his longevity.

I've got a questiona bout the Senna deal. Since he played for Villareal in the intertoto cup agianst Maribor, would he ineligible for United in teh CL if we signed him?

that's a different competition altogether so he'll still be eligible for CL

i work in finance, many people in finance have what is called a bloomberg terminal, which i personally use to price derivatives and track market movements. it also has a ton of information on everything, including footy news feeds :p which are up to date and faster than you can get on the websites.

oh i got temporarily banned once. it's always over misunderstandings.

are there any mods that are man utd fans? i can't think of one. maxxed isn't a mod btw, he was very ahemmmm clear in correcting me on that one.

anyway this diarra things is starting to bother me. skysports just put out an article on it also. diarra's agent hasn't talked to the pres which is unusual since usually you can't get him to shutup.

Diarra seems like he wont be coming anytime soon, and I could have sworn around the winter transfer window Diarra would have been a Red Devil by this time(much earlier actually).
