Raymond Domenech is expected to meet with Werder Bremen star Johan Micoud to discuss his inclusion in France's World Cup squad, according to French TV commentator Thierry Rolland.
Micoud publicly criticised the French national team coach just a few weeks ago for his failure to select the Bremen playmaker and Domenech has seemingly taken the comments on board.
The former Bordeaux and Parma playmaker is likely to get his chance to prove himself on the biggest stage, with Domenech seeing the 32-year-old as the perfect replacement for Zinedine Zidane.
"I can tell you that Raymond Domenech will go to Bremen this weekend to meet with Johan Micoud," Rolland told RTL.
Micoud has been in excellent form for Bremen this season, scoring 11 goals in 36 games as well as helping Bremen reach the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League.

it'd be the smart thing for the french
i would argue this guy is better than Zidane right now, because he's more fit. He can run for 90 minutes, while Zidane is starting to get along now

Micoud was injured during the last weeks. He had to leave the field after ~60 minutes =(
Daniel Jensen came instead and scored the 2:0

I certainly believe that Johan Micoud should be given a chance, there are not many around capable of reading a game the way he does.
Bonne Chance Monsieur!!

He's a really good player but let's be honest, he's not in the same class as Zidane.
I can't see a club paying 20M for this guy let alone 50M.
I can see him being Zidane's #2 during this world cup.
Coming in from the bench around the 60th minute.
Maybe this will be the experience he needs to become a truly top class midfielder.

As far as I am informed, he intends to end his career In Bremen
anyway, he's not exactly the youngest anymore.
No other player in the Bundesliga this season has prepared so many goals.

I think he should have played the first match against Senegal, in 2002. He did start against Uruguay, but by then it was all over. :)
Micoud is a great player and I hope he gets to shine on the big stage. Whatever, I do not see the wisdom in calling him the "perfect replacement" to Zidane at the not-so-young age of 32.

I hope that it will do the world cup with France. He's a great player.

I think that the "perfect replacement" to Zidane is not Micoud, but Ribery (Marseille).

Ribery is still learning and I don't know if he is ready to play with the A team yet.
He ain't.
France needs Micoud or/and Pires cuz Zidane is too much tired after fifteen minutes...

Yes. I think he will replace Zidane, but after the WC.

That I totally agree with. I saw him play against England for the U-21 team and he was awesome.

I would like to see Zizou play alongside Micoud, the only time that's happened before was in Istambul and France won 0-5.

Actually if you look at it, Micoud is only a year younger than Zidane so right now I'd still put Zidane before anybody else.

I saw games of France wich Domenech didnt had a playmaker on the field. like Viera - Makalele - Malouda or Rothen...and then 3 Strikers up front.
Micoud got a horrible statistic he was in the euro 2000 squad, right? so what are we talking about 6-7 years international, and just got 16 appeaences 1 goal.
It could be that Domenech left him out and nominate Vikash Dhorasoo as a back up for Zidane or Alou Diarra.
Ribery is not quite ready, but why not the expierence would be a big step for the future of him.
Micoud is 32 maybe it's his last chance for an big tournament and to play actually more minutes as in the past. His reputation in France is not high, it's like S.Frey!

Some people say that he was the best player ever in the Werder jersey,
and we had players like Rudi Voeller in the past.
When he played the most difficult pass it looked so easy everytime... :o

Yesterday was the Goodbye match for Joe Micoud.
Girondins won with 0-1 , scored by ....yes Micoud :D

Because of the german Liga-Cup it wasnt allowed to play in the Weserstadion in Bremen
so they moved the match to our neighbours in Oldenburg.
