Is he that good?
I just simply don't know too much about him since he left Ajax.

He should go to Real Madrid... Real should also buy Diarra from Lyon and Joaquin from Betis... That will create an unstoppable team next year:D...Although Zidane will be gone....They should sell Pavon,Helguera and Salgado

Chelsea - Blues ready for Real battle
Chelsea are ready to battle it out with Real Madrid for the services of Roma defender Christian Chivu, with reports from Spain claiming the Spanish giants will move for Ricardo Carvalho if they lose the chase.
The Blues are believed to be keen on recruited another central defender with Robert Huth among the names being tipped to leave the club this summer.
Chivu's ability to play as a left-back as well could see Chelsea break the bank for the player, but Real Madrid are desperate to rebuild and are ready to rival Chelsea in the Chivu chase.
According to Spanish daily Marca, Chivu is Madrid's top target but if Chelsea's millions win the day they may turn to Carvalho who could be pushed out by the Romanian's arrival.
However whether Jose Mourinho would offload Carvalho remains to be seen as the Portuguese defender has been a key player for Mourinho both at Stamford Bridge and during their time at FC Porto.
Just added Chelsea to the mix... ;)

He'll be a nice addition to Barca ... we need to shore up that defence a little bit. But I don't think Barca will pay too much or fight to get him...

Any defenders at Barca would be great lol Carlos Puyol is good, but the others go for walkabouts far too often. They're good enough if they stick to what they are paid to do. Problem is, they all think they're Ronnie :P Chivu has a straight choice between a team that is probably going to win La Liga for the second year running and maybe the Champions League, or a team that hasn't won a thing for three years. I don't think he'll find the decision too hard. Chivu join us (spoken in Star Wars Emperor voice :D )

I'd love to see him at Real.
I do not think Roma has much future for him coz the best they will get is the UEFA Cup. A player of his quality should be playing more in the UCL.

I think he would be great in Real Madrid together with my favourite player Sergio Ramos. They would create an unstoppable defence ( Hope so ) with Diarra from Lyon. Yes Chivu is a great centralback. He's not tall but he is flexible and that makes him to a worldclass defender. C'mon Chivu. Choose Real Madrid and you will win the league next season together with Adriano, Diarra, Joaquin and Riquelme?
Hala Madrid!

Well, Roma declared during the week-end that Chivu would be "untransferable".
If one can take this claim honest is another question...I think when the big teams (Roma is big too, but they're not in the same league as Real, Barca, Chelsea...) come knocking with the big money and Chivu really clarifies his intentions to leave, Roma will let him go. After all, they are still in some sort of financial trouble and could put the money to good use.
I'd love to see him play at Madrid. He could either play center back or replace Roberto Carlos as full-back on the left hand side.
Didn't AS come out with an article saying the deal with Chivu and Real Madrid was almost done
... then again, its AS :p

I know Real and Barca both are after him. But I read recently that Barca almost has got him. So I hope to see Chivu in Nou Camp next season. He is a very good defender, just what Barca needs. Left backs are getting too old and if Puyol or Marquez gets injured there is no CB and Chivu can play CB and LB.

I agree I think Barca has a better chance of landing him, I mean cmon, who wouldn't want to join Barca at this point?

Some players would prefer to go to a less successful club to get more minutes and to have a bigger influence on things. Lucio (Bayer Leverkusen) said that when asked about going to Madrid.
Maybe now players would be attracted to come to madrid and be successful... there is no room in the Camp Nou in my opinion, look at Van Bommel and Ezquerro... I believe both have been dissappointed with not seeing so much playing time!
my 2 cents worth :)

so van bommel is not playing much for barca right????
and there is always a good chance for chivu to play cause barca's looking for a good defender for next season.(though i am happy enough with what we have)

Zico's right ...
van bommel had a first team place before he joined barca and he was on the bench for half the season. He said he'll do whatever it takes to make a first team place. but right now he's playing only because of Xavi being injured and with iniesta coming up nicely ... I don't see him keeping his place.
Also u can see the desperation with him trying to shoot at goal from way outside D and wasting some chances. All he's doing is trying to score so that he can prove his worth but that's not the barca style of play now...is it?
And on topic...
Sure as I said earlier, I would like to see him at barca...but since the competition for him is getting hotter with chelski getting involved, I don't see barca paying thru the nose to get him.
