I want to present my favourite team: Toulouse Football Club. http://127.0.0.1/StatsL1/images/logo/tfc.gif
In 2001-2002, Toulouse played in National (third division) with only 3 professional players (Revault, Lièvre, and Prunier) and since 2003-2004, we are in Ligue 1.
This year, we're going to stay in Ligue 1 for the 4th years, and that's a little miracle for this team. :D
The most famous player is Daniel Moreira. http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/photos/FootballImage2832.jpg
We have some internationals U-21: L.Aubey, D.Congré, and A.Ebondo.

Yea Toulouse is a pretty small club but i say they deserve to be in Ligue 1. They won the Ligue 2 championship in 2003 too.
But you mentionned Moreira but I'd say Bergougnoux should be mentionned too. He is really young but I'd say he's gonna get a whole lot better.
You heard it here first.

Bergougnoux must learn how to pass the ball before, and play for the team and not only for himself.
Toulouse will change the coach at the end of the season. Erick Mombaerts will be assistant general manager next season. :(
He's the man who accept to manage a cfa's team in National to Ligue 1. Thanks for all Mister Mombaerts.

What is not a miracle is the way Toulouse is playing this year. Man, I can't see another team playing so badly except Bordeaux or St Etienne (I'm talking about teams with ambitions at the beginning of the season). It's a shame cause they bought some gifted and offensive players.... but nothing. Maybe they will play football next year ;)

Some players didn't appreciate the coach, and they don't played as they can play. They didn't do what Mombaerts wanted.
During a training, I saw the coach explained how to defend to a player, but the player didn't listen him...
A rumor announce that the next coach could be Laurent Blanc.

Hey! Considering what they've already done in their career, they have the right to have a "big head" :D
You know, you can give names. They don't have time to surf on the internet, they are on PES all day long ;)

I have no confirmed information. But Cardy had problems with the coach, Bergougnoux said that tacticals choices were not good.
Some players like Emana, and Ebondo, "choose" their matches. They made great matches against Lyon, Marseille, or PSG, but against (for exemple) Strasbourg, Nice, or Ajaccio, they were bad. In fact, some players are good if the match is on Canal+...

Hi all!
A little summary of the transfers in my favourite team:
Out: Cardy (Metz, L2), Giresse (Amiens, L2), Bedimo (Le Havre, L2), Lièvre (stop his carrier, he will be integrated to the staff), Moreira (Rennes, L1).
Out (rumour): Psaume (Nimes, National), Emana (Portsmouth, Premier League).
In: Elmander (Brondby), Fabinho (Santos).
In (rumour): Barthez.
Three young players of the second team became professionnal: Camara, Pentecote, and Robic.
Toulouse change the coach. Erick Mombaerts will make a study on the formation. The new coach is Elie Baup.
We will play in 4-4-2. Bergougnoux seems to have a better spirit. Mansaré scored 7 goals in 5 friendly matchs. Emana played great games.
Francileudo Santos is injured, we don't know when he will come back.
:D

Thanks for starting this thread. I have some relatives that live in Toulouse but I don't know anything about this club. Probably because they were down there in L3. Hopefully now I'll have more to talk about with them than the HOT weather
Is Toulouse fun to watch, like PSG in form? I just saw the 1st half of PSG vs. Bordeaux where Pauletta scored the hat-trick. I'm going to be watching a lot of PSG and Lyon this year. Can anyone convince me to add Toulouse to that list?

Being relegated to National (3rd division) was the best thing that could appened to us. It was a new rebirth with young players (from cfa team, the 4th division) and 4 old players (Bancarel, Lièvre, Prunier and Revault). Four players became international U-20 (Taider, Congré, Aubey and Ebondo).

Well, some games are very fun to watch, but not all. During the 3 past seasons, the best matchs was against teams like PSG, OM, OL. This year, the first half time against Nice was very good (I can't see the other match).
And if you likes Cameroon, Achille Emana is playing very very well this year. :D

I hope Elmander will develop a lot in Toulouse.. I think he has been pretty good so far. A little more time and he'll be scoring goals as he did in Bröndby :).

I remember Elmander saying after 1 or 2 matches with Toulouse that he enjoys playing in a club where the team has to fight 90 minute every game to get at least 1 point with them. He said some matches in Bröndby they could play at half capacity and still win comfortable.. That is one of the reasons I like Elmander, he is a real teamplayer!

Clubs in the french league (except Lyon, of course) don't play a very good football but have, more or less, the same level. That's why you can win or lose against almost any team. But most of the time you get a pathetic 0-0

Too bad that you lost against Auxerre and that Elmander is out.. I don't think it was a bad injury this time though? I think he will be back in the next game..
I watched the Auxerre game, but I came on after Elmander had gone out, so I was a bit confused when he wasn't on.. as one of the commentators said: "Just when you expect the big, ugly Swedish centre forward to come up.. he's not on the pitch, is he?" :D lol.
About the game, I think Toulouse gave away to many easy balls all over the pitch.. they tried to do something, but then someone made an unforced mistake and they lost possession.. didn't get any flow in the offence because of that. Not good :(.
How did it go against Rennes? Appreciate that you are updating on Toulouse's games!

I don't found any news about Elmander's injury...:( Next match is against Paris, at the Parc des Princes, and I hope he 'll play because we need him.
Two before the match against Auxerre, I read that Elmander was injury, and he won't play this match. However, Elie Baup take him, and Elmander was on the green ground. For only 28 minutes.
Last saturday, we received Rennes. Christophe Revault was applauded for all he give to Toulouse. And Moreira was whistled for all he didn't give to Toulouse. :D
The match wasn't interesting. The absence of Elmander was prejudicial in offensive animation: Santos was a ghost, Bergougnoux and Batlles had not inspiration,... Only Fodé Mansaré have done a very good match.
During the second half, Pentecote enters and he offers solutions to the team.
Two penalties were whistled for Toulouse: Bergougnoux scored the first. Mansaré want the second, but Bergougnoux didn't let him, and Bergougnoux missed...
So, TFC win 1-0 and stay at the 9th position, but at only 2 points of the second Lille.

If you were thinking about capping it from the TLT channel, I advise you not to do so. They have the worst image quality I've ever seen from a TV channel. It looks like an old video tape recorded in the 80's and having been watched like a thousand times already. I'm serious, it's barely watchable!
Watch games on this channel (like I do from time to time) but don't spread material with such a bad quality unless they improve it. Check it first if you haven't already, you'll see what I mean.

It' Lens, not Lyon. ;)
We always have a chance, if not, we don't play the match. :D
We have 3 or 4 players to replace Dieuze and Emana: Taider, Sirieix, Fabinho and Mathieu. But, this season (and since last year), we never played without this two men. So, the two players who will play today, didn't practice enought to do as well as Dieuze-Emana. And the fact that "affraid" me, it's that this happen against one of the 2 or 3 best team in France.
Lens didn't lose since 8 matchs, I think that a good series but, I hope it will ended today. :) I think also that a draw won't be a bad result.
Today, the temperature is cold, Elmander will play a big match. :D

Lens wins 1-0, goal scored at 91°. :(
Maybe they were better than us, maybe not. I can't explain because Lens played with a bad spirit: they simulated, they played falling to obtain faults. It's not football, it's not my football. I am disappointed, and sad for my team.
Well, we don't made a great match, but we should get the draw. Elmander was too alone to do better. Bergougnoux, like past year, play for himself and not for the team. Sirieix and Fabinho were not as brilliant as Dieuze and Emana.
@Bruun: I will try to found some picture of Elmander. ;)

I just watched the match, and I must say I didn't think Lens was second in the league.. The teams played at equal level all the match, so I thought they were around Toulouse's spot in the table.
About the match, I think MAYBE Lens deserved the win in the long run.. but when they scored the goal it didn't feel fair.. but they did hit the woodwork twice, and early in second half I think they earned a penalty, but the referee didn't.
Would not have felt unfair if Toulouse had got a goal in the end of the match though.. very unlucky that Lens got that one in :(.

Yes, we lost, and very sad and angry against players.
Nantes is not a good team, we were better than them during 1 hour. After, Nantes scored a beautiful goal on a free kick. And since this goal, we couldn't do anything, mentally, we were KO. Only one player continues to do something, but playing alone against 11 it's not easy (we create the 0-0-1 system :D ). It's not a surprise, this player was Elmander. He was the only player to received applause of the Stadium.
Now, the mercato will start, and we wait for a right winger (Fabinho, and Bergougnoux aren't real wingers) and a striker (we'll try to sell Santos).
Next match is the 6, in Coupe de France, and we'll play at Châtellerault (3rd division).

Tonight, Toulouse start the year with the best french team: Lyon.
Even if Coupet won't play, it will be difficult to get a good result. First, Lyon remember the draw that we get in august. And we have some problems in defense with the injuries of Lucien Aubey, Jeremy Mathieu, and Mohamed Fofana. Ebondo and Arribagé are Ok, Dao too (but he have play only 4 match this season after a long injury). I don't know who will play left back: Walid Cherfa (19 years old, 0 match in Ligue 1) or Alsény Camara (19 years old, 0 match in Ligue 1).
Last 3 years, Lyon win at Toulouse (0-1, 0-2, 0-1), but each match was a great Toulouse performance against the french champion. I'm sure that we will play good match, I sure that we will scored, I sure that David will defeat Goliath. :D
French newspaper, L'Equipe, announce new transfer for next season: Paulo Cesar (PSG) sign for 3 years since next July.

It's a good player, but he's young. I think that he should stay 1 or 2 years more in France before playing for a european team. I think he will be a very good player. He plays left back, he can attack. I like him.
And now, the spoiler of the night:
I'm sure that we will play good match, I sure that we will scored, I sure that David will defeat Goliath. :D
We do it, putain, we win, 2-0, against Lyon.
Elmander made an assists. I don't know if you see the assist he made at Gerland, but he made the same pass, for Emana. And then, Elmander scored an incredible goal: he shoot a free kick, on the wall, get back the ball, run in front of the penalty area, enter into it, shoot and scored.
Mansaré was really magic.
In defense, Arribagé didn't play (he's ill), so the midfield Dieuze played in defense with Ebondo, Dao and Cherfa. All the team made a great great match.
I'm very happy.:)

Mathieu agent reveals Roma talks
tribalfooball.com - January 14, 2007
The agent of Toulouse midfielder Jeremy Mathieu admits he's close to sealing a move to Roma.
Federico Pastorello revealed yesterday: "In the past months we have worked a lot with (Roma director general) Daniele Prade on the topic of Mathieu.
"The only problem I see is that Roma had hoped to sign him as a relative unknown. But now many people are aware of him and that means his price is going up."
Pastorello says Roma will have spend over £3.5 million to land the young Frenchman.

A penalty stopped by Benvegnu and a new goal of Elmander offer to the TFC a beautiful victory outside. Three deserved points conquered thanks to an enormous combativeness of all the team…
a raid carried out by Emana on the left-hand side will make fly. Left the medium of ground, Cameronian serves Elmander of the outside of the right, in front of the goals. An offering tasted as it should be by Swedish for the opening of the score and its fifth drank this season

Well, during last 7 days, Toulouse was on the road: we get one point at Paris (0-0), we lose in Monaco (2-0, Coupe de France), and we win at Nice (0-1).
The defeat against Monaco was not really dramatic. Our goalkeeper, Douchez was excluded for a foul out of the penalty area. If the red card is severe, the FFF decide to punish Douchez with two matches !!! Fucking federation...
The video of the foul (http://13obscur.free.fr/tfc/video/NdRedCard.avi).
So, Benoît Benvegnu enter for his first match with the first team. Only 20s after, Meriem scored on the free kick.
Defender Momo Fofana injured, and so, Daniel Congré played his first match after one year without playing (due to injuries). :)
Three days later, at Nice, Benvegnu played his first match in Ligue 1, and was the man of the match. Emana did a bad pass to Congré who must tackle Koné: penalty kick for Nice after only 3 minutes. Laslandes, 35 years old, one of the most scorer in activity in french Ligue 1, shoot, and Benvegnu stopped the ball. 20 minutes after, Emana offers a good passs to Elmander who scored his 5th goal in France and give the 3 points to the TFC. Last victory in Nice was in 1987, 20 years. Ouf!:D
I downloaded some video of Nice-TFC:

The defeat is unfair for Lille because they do a great match. But, well, it' football. Lille is the best team I could see in Toulouse this season, hope they'll do interesting things in Champions.

Always the same story actually...
Nasri is getting better and better! I can't imagine what he'll do in the future with Ben Arfa or Mathieu in the NT of France... They all are pure gold!
About Ribéry, I don't know if I should tell what I think of him cause it won't be nice... The only thing I can tell you is that the right and only place for him should be on the bench until the end of the season when I'll leave Marseille for Arsenal...

I'm not surprised by this defeat. Every year, matches against Sochaux are very hard for Toulouse.
This season stay one of the best season we made in Ligue 1 since several years. Two years ago, we were 6th after 30 matchs (29 matches were played this season) and we lost the last 8 match (a "record" ). Every month, the paper L'Equipe, Canal+ and UNFP (National Professional Player Union) organize an "election" between 3 players. Every body can vote. Elmander wins for February, and was second in january. :)

I think that Elmander had no price. But I'm happy that we could get a so extraordinary player.
do you think he will play for TFC next year?
Everybody in Toulouse asked themself this question !!!
I hope he will stay. He said that he will play Euro '08 with Sweden, so I think that be am important player, and play every match in Toulouse is a good way to play with his national team (if he's on the bench of a bigger team, it may be more difficult). If we can play an european cup, and if our president accept to pay Johan better, he may stay.
There no TFC fan who want see hi left the team. A second season here and he enters the legend. :D

"Elmander! Elmander!! oh oh oh oooh oh oh oh oooh" :D Elmander was replaced 5 minuts before the end, and all the Stadium stand up and applause him.
3rd victory in 3 matches. Except Lille who wins against Sochaux (Thanks and congrats ;)), all others matches had the big score: 0-0. Also Lens. So after 32 matches, Toulouse is 2nd.
After only 7 minuts, Kaboul (Auxerre) "gives" the ball to Emana who score. TFC 1, Auxerre 0. The night is starting very well. 17°, Batlles shoot a free kick, Elmander is here and scrore. But he was offside (It's not sure) and the goal was refused. 30°, an extraterrestrial player come from the north offer a great assists to Mansaré. Toulouse 2, Auxerre 0.
This first period was really nice. :)
The second, Auxerre try to score but our goalkeeper, Douchez was unbelievable tonight. The defenders Congré and Mathieu realized a great match. At the minut 65, Arribagé score but the referee refused this goal, again... :(
We win, we are 2nd, and I dream with UEFA.

Un nouveau dauphin
samedi 14 avril 2007 - 22 h 00 - Patrick DANIEL

Do you guys think that Toulouse will continue it's great form?
13obscur

It's possible. Players want an european cup, they want the Champions League. We need at least 8 points to get a european cup.
But, when you see the tables, the 10th have need 3 points to be in an european position. So, if Toulouse wants UCL, we had to continue winning.
And we will play some difficult matchs to the end (Paris, Lens and Bordeaux):
J33 Rennes - TFC
J34 TFC - Paris
J35 Lens - TFC
J36 TFC - Le Mans
J37 Nantes - TFC
J38 TFC - Bordeaux
Paris and Nantes play to stay in Ligue 1. Rennes, Lens, Bordeaux for a european cup (even if Bordeaux will play UEFA cup due to the Ligue Cup, they may wants the UCL).
Now, the players want Champions League, so they had one thing to do: continue to play well, and win.
The end of this season will be very very exiting. :)

Mansaré scored a great goal.
The referees were very bad. Emana scored a second goal, we should lead 2-0, but the referee cancel the goal (for a goal kick). But the ball stay in game, in the ground. With 2-0, we should win, it's sure. But no, Paris must stay in ligue 1, so "we" had to do everything to help them.
Well, except that, physically, it's was very difficult. The last matches will be difficult to play. We have not enought players to fight during 38 games.

With the victories of Bordeaux and Sochaux in cups, the 6th place can put us to UEFA (and the 7th to Intertoto).
Any news on Elmander?
Oh, yes. He's tired, he spend lots of energy during this season. He was not very good in Lens, but he was better against Le Mans.

UNFP Trophy, tomorrow at 7pm. Every year, the UNFP elect bests players of the year.
There is 7 categories: Best player (for L1 and L2), best goalkeeper (for L1 and L2), best young player (L1), and best coach (L1, L2).
Toulouse have a player, and the coach, nominated.
Best L1 player: Johan Elmander (Toulouse), Florent Malouda (Lyon), Abdul Kader Keita (Lille), Seydou Keita (Lens).
Best L2 player: Julien Féret (Reims), Yoan Gouffran (Caen), Babacar M’Baye Gueye (Metz), Jean-Michel Lesage (Le Havre).
Best L1 goalkeeper: Grégory Coupet (Lyon), Michael Landreau (PSG), Ulrich Ramé (Bordeaux), Teddy Richert (Sochaux).
Best L2 goalkeeper: Stéphane Cassard (Strasbourg), Steve Mandanda (Le Havre), Christophe Marichez (Metz), Romuald Peiser (Gueugnon).
Best young L1 player: Jimmy Briand (Rennes), Karim Benzema (Lyon), Samir Nasri (Marseille), Dimitri Payet (Nantes).
Best L1 coach: Elie Baup (Toulouse), Gérard Houllier (Lyon), Alain Perrin (Sochaux), Ricardo (Bordeaux).
Best L2 coach: Ludovic Batelli (Amiens), Cédric Daury (Châteauroux), Francis De Taddéo (Metz), Jean-Pierre Papin (Strasbourg).
For the best player, I think it will be Elmander or Keita (from Lille). For the best young player, Nasri had to win (I really like this player). For the coach, Perrin should win.

According to Aftonbladet (http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/sport/story/0,2789,1105002,00.html) Jon Jönsson, a full back from last year's Swedish league winners Elfsborg, has been talking to Toulouse. They also say he's been talking to Newcastle, as well as PSG.
Couldn't find any news about it in French or English, but maybe you guys can.. I think it would be nice to see him rise in Toulouse as lord Elmander, he's indeed a talented player.. has done a few performances in the Swedish NT as well, not in important games though.

Four players left the team: Benvegnu (Amiens), Bonnet (Sedan), Pentecote (Bastia), and Cherfa (Tours).
We have two new players: Rudy Riou (goalkeeper), and André-Pierre Gignac (striker).
Gignac sign a "pre-contract" with Lille, but after he decided to sign in Toulouse. Lille is angry against TFC (it's logical). The LFP will decide in which team Gignac will play.
I don't know why we're fight against Lille for this player. He played only 1 season en Ligue 1, and he cost 4M€.
I heard this news about Jönsson. L'Equipe:
I think it may be official this week.

From TimesOnline.co.uk
"Wigan Athletic and Mallorca have expressed an interest in Fodé Mansaré, the Toulouse winger. The 25-year-old scored four goals last season. He was part of the Guinea squad that lost in the quarter-finals of the 2004 African Cup of Nations."
He looks great on YouTube. We need a left winger badly do you think there is any truth to this rumor? This thread looks like the place to ask about him! Any info would be greatly appreciated! :)

According to me it would be a pure madness for Toulouse to let Mansaré go cause this year they can play the UCL.
And i guess Toulouse's chairman thinks the same about Mansaré or Elmander.

Well done by Toulouse & especially Elmander ;)

Although Lyon was controlling the game until the incident, Kallstrom's red card was well deserved. The replay shows him spitting in the direction of the linesman, who immediately complained to the referee. Also, the injury to Cris was not Toulouse's fault - he kicked Elmander instead of the ball and his knee seems to have locked.
Toulouse played extremely well in the 2nd half with the extra man and took advantage of their best opportunity. Elmander found himself in perfect position for the goal, and Emana came very close to making it 2-0 in extra-time when he hit the post. In my opinion, Emana was the player of the match.
------

Liverpool have been in the CL-final twice the last three seasons. And some say they have an even better team this season.
It's not a shame to lose when playing vs one of the best Cup-winning Teams in the world.
After the first two goals were conceded, the Toulouse players became less motivated to play the way they need to stop Liverpool.
So it's back to the UEFA Cup for Toulouse where you could get a chance to meet Helsingborg of Sweden,

Once again an other disappointment...
We lost 1-2 in a game we shouldn't have lost.
We started the game very well and just like Scotland against France, Toulouse scored with one opportunity.
After that the genius Elmander scored a goal on a ball that Nasri gave too easily.
At 0-2, our team was too weak mentaly to come back. So Toulouse won this game 1-2. They played defensively and it payed.
We shot 22 times and only 4 times on target. Toulouse shot 8 times and 3 times on target... It says it all!
