What the hell is Rafa Benitez thinking? I believe he is bringing yet another left winger to liverpool (Mark Gonzalez is his name). Doesn't Liverpool has enough left wingers with Zenden, Kewell, Riise and now MarK Gonzalez? How is he going to fit them all in? And all the while i have been hearing that he need a striker and a RIGHT winger.

probably doing a conversion of his role ala Wenger - Henry.

I think he can also play on the right. Maybe Rafa bought him as a replacement for Kewell, who was playing crap at that time. You're right though, we'll be pretty well off down the left-hand side for next season, plus we've signed that Argentinian left-back (Paletta is it?) and there's also Warnock, who I quite like.

I'd like to see Paul Anderson (great, young right-winger from Hull) introduced next season. From the few reserve games I've seen, he's taken the absolute piss down the right-wing.

Edit: I like your username. Titi, what a player!

yeah we bought him in october, and yes he can play both right and left as well as up front as a second striker,oh and by the looks of it he is better than what we got at the moment

The only reason Mark Gonzalez did not play this season is because we could not secure a work permit.

Zenden is unlikely to break into the first team in the near future. Kewell is quite inconsistent. Mark Gonzalez is far superior than what we have currently. He's fast, excellent dribbler and has a shot that'll put Stevie to shame! ;)

We don't need a right winger. Stevie G will do. And Luis Garcia is a good backup.

We are going to spend all our money to buy 2 very good strikers and maybe a midfielder as a backup for Momo/Xabi. ;)

i think rafa was thinking about his age. this guy is young and tied to a fairly lengthy contract. zenden was a stop gap imo. this is a kid on the upside of his career who is versatile. our other lmf options are just starting the downside of their careers so imo he can not only contribute now, but for years to come.

So, what's the situation now with his work permit? I'm hearing different things. First I hear that he will have a Spanish passport by the summer (so a work permit wouldn't be needed) then I hear Rafa saying his form has been good enough to get him a work permit. What's going on?

And, can you believe the red-taped bullshit that this country puts itself through? I was watching the La Liga programme the other night, and Guillem Balague (sp.) made a very good point saying that imagine if this had happened if, for example, Maradona had wanted to come to England 25 years ago. Our stupid f*cking government would've denied us the chance to have one of the greatest of all time playing in our league because they wouldn't grant him a work permit.

To me, it's utter bollocks - why the f*ck does the government need to get involved in these issues?

Gonzalez will play as a 2nd striker behind Crouch. He is pretty Versitile. Zenden is pretty Versatile as well, who can play accross the field.
Kewell will keep his position and left back is still weak.

Palleta is a Centre back I believe. Agger can play left back as well.

I think we going to have a mighty squad next season.

Mark Gonzalez was supposed to be here last season, only due to the work permit, he wasnt here. In fact, he has been signed as Liverpool player already, but now loaned out to Real Sociedad.

Riise is not a left winger, he is left back. Zenden is getting old and injuries keep coming, so we only have Gonzalez and Kewell fighting for regular place.

i think he'll play on the right wing, not left. someone else will come in to be the second triker. rafa likes to rotate his squad and gonzalez can fit in a number of places.

I have watched mark gonzalez in spanish league and I think that he is a left winger not right...
and now he is the best player of real sociedad...he has scored 4 important goals for his team.
I hope that he plays in liverpool the next season
un saludo

I have never been able to see Gonzalez play but it seems as if Gerrard can play on the right side but if you have someone who normally plays on the wing instead of the middle is a big difference even though Gonzalez normally plays on the left. From left to right is a lesser difference than center to right imo. Hope he gets the permit soon. Am interested to see him play.
