After the shock last minute loss to Colon on Sunday, Boca hosts Olimpo tomorrow at 4 pm EST for round 8 (midweek games).

Well, it seems that Russo has decided that the time to "protect" Gracian is over and will start him tomorrow. The one leaving him the spot is Battaglia, this way Banega returns to his position of last semester.

Also, Krupoviesa will be back on the left of defense now that Urribarri was suspended. Hopefully, el Tucu is recovered and is in shape, as the other option was to ask for the 225 and have Urribarri play since Morel is away with his NT.

The probable formation:

Caranta
Ibarra - Maidana - Paletta - Krupoviesa
Ledesma - Banega - Datolo
Gracian
Palacio - Palermo

Russo's conclusion is that there aren't enuff chances for Martin. With Gracian, he hopes to find more ground balls arriving his way. And with Krupo, his characteristic crosses to the 2nd post that will keep Palermo busy.

Just in case this doesn't work, both Boselli and Bueno will be on the bench.

Finally, we can see 4312 again~~Celebrate!!!:)~~
Look forward to the performance of Tano and the return of my favorite LB -Tucu (Hopefully,Basile could give him a chance in the NT)

What's more,I wonder why Neri has not played a minute for such a long time ??~~
Since it changes back to 4312 now ,Neri should come back to his familiar position ,right??~~~

The most important thing was to gain the 3 points on a very rainy day in Bs As ... not everyone is able to adapt to the climate constraints and end-up drowned in half a glass of water.

The addition of Gracian and Krupoviesa had as the premise to find more offensive routes for Palermo. This was partially true, as the field conditions certainly reduced the chances to play on the ground. But this premise has a wider impact. The entire team is worried for Palermo. They are trying way too hard to have him score. And this turned into inefficiency ... clear chances that were once again missed.

There is another game in 4 days. Hopefully the field will be without water. Another chance to see if with the ball on the ground, the team can win confortably, earlier in the game.

Paletta impressed yesterday. Maidana was also on spot. What to do with Morel? Should Russo bench Maidana, Paletta or Krupo? The taller the center of defense, the less importance of Palermo in defensive duties. From the defensive choices we could start to read Russo's intentions moving forward. Unless Gracian helps Russo to delay the decision regarding the center of attack.

Banega is out for Sunday's game at Banfield. And is doubtful for the game against Sao Paulo on Wednesday, could be up to 2 weeks out. Pinto didn't even see a yellow ... seems that Pezzotta measures the yellows based on if there is bone damage. Thankfully, Banega's is just a swollen ankle, no bone damage.

Well, the international games start tonite at la Bombonera. Probably one of the toughest rivals in this Sudamericana to kick of the Round of 16 ... an anticipated final in many ways.

Russo will line-up the same team that demolished Banfield 0-6 on Sunday:

Caranta
Ibarra - Maidana - Paletta - Morel
Ledesma - Battaglia - Datolo
Gracian
Palacio - Palermo

Sao Paulo are leaders of the Brasileirao, 9 points above Cruzeiro and 15 points! ahead of 3rd place Santos. They have received only 8 goals against in 26 games ... scoring 40. Last weekend they beat 3rd placed Santos 2-1.

Game starts at 8:45 pm EST on Fox Sports Espanol.

Some updates to have this end of the tournament more clear for everyone.

The tournament is in Round 17 this weekend, only 3 rounds to play. There are only 3 teams fighting for the title:

1- Lanus 33 pts
2- Boca 30 pts
3- Tigre 28 pts

Games remaining for each:

Round 17:
Arsenal v BOCA 11-25-07
LANUS v Argentinos Jr 11-25-07
TIGRE v Central 11-23-07

Round 18:
BOCA v LANUS * 12-02-07
Argentinos Jr v TIGRE* 12-02-07

Round 19:
TIGRE v BOCA 11-28-07
LANUS v Gimnasia LP 11-28-07

* Since Boca is playing the Club World Cup and is travelling to Japan on December 5th, they have the "right" to move one of their games ahead. Boca decided to move their last game (was suppossed to be played December 9th) to Wednesday, November 28th. Since Lanus wants to play their games the same day as Boca, they are also moving their game against Gimnasia LP to Nov. 28th.

In short, the title contenders will play Round 19 between Rounds 17 and 18.

In case that there is a tie in points at the end of the tournament, a tie-breaker game will be played on Tuesday, December 4th.

Boca know that by winning their 3 games, at the very least they would force a tie-breaker game (for this to happen Lanus would have to win their other 2 games). This would mean that between this coming Sunday, November 25th and Tuesday, December 4th, Boca could be playing 4 games in 9 days, just prior to their trip to japan.

It is a tight end of the tournament ... perhaps not the best timing for these many games. But rather be busy than not playing for anything ... **cough, cough** :D

From the official website:

The list of players to travel Japan includes
goalkeepers Pablo Migliore, Javier García and Mauricio Caranta;
defenders Hugo Ibarra, Jonatan Maidana, Juan Angel Krupoviesa, Gabriel Paletta, Claudio Morel Rodríguez, Matías Cahais and Matías Silvestre;
midfielders Pablo Ledesma, Sebastián Battaglia, Ever Banega, Fabián Vargas, Neri Cardozo, Nicolás Bertolo, Leandro Gracián and Alvaro González,
and forwards Martín Palermo, Rodrigo Palacio, Mauro Boselli and Carlos Bueno.

Uncertain is what will happen with Juan Román Riquelme, whether FIFA will allow him to be player Nº 23 and travel to the most important competition of the world at the club level.

P.S Jesus Datolo is not in the list unfortunately.
He has totally fallen to hell from heaven ,due to his bad performance in the middle of this semester~~

3 games i could deal with, but 4 games...that would be a bit much. the let down physically might be a bit too much with the travel, jet lag...without Roman i wouldnt put too much hope beating AC in the final(and who wouldnt want to see AC/Boca in the final?!) :D

Looks like Krupoviesa is coming to Marseille. 1.5M euros would be the price.
My question is: has he fully recovered from his injury? Krupo was pretty good before it happened. But with Clemente back in Boca he hasn't had much time to show how well he is now.
Some informations, Vip? :)

I know some informations:)
When Clemente came back,Krupo was injury during the whole clausura.
After Clemente left, Morel played as left back and Krupo only got a few matches played in the apertura because he didn't recover quite fully and find his best form ~~:(~~
But now I think he is okay~
Hope he perform well in France~~

Damn, I forgot that Clemente had left Boca 6 months ago... :o

Looks like Marseille is only buying injured players (remember Cissé  )
Still, an injured Krupo will always be better than any Taiwo :D
But is the deal done?

I think that if they brought him either as an assistant, or hired an experienced coach to be his assistant, that would work out best. But he hasn't had any experience coaching yet has he? And now he's going into one of the hotbeds of football in the world? Its hard for any coach, let alone an inexperienced one. Bring in an aging but capable coach, with a proven history of prepared teams under him, as an assistant, and i'd say hire him in a second.
But as a rule, i'm very leery of hiring first time coaches, without proven support backing them up, into bigtime roles based solely on their playing days. Its a different beast, requiring skills that you really don't have time to learn on your own along the way. At least not without detriment to the team you're coaching. But yes, i'd like to see Batistuta managing boca in some capacity.

Bati has denied the possibility~:(~I was also excited when I heard the news~:)
And the new coach will be Carlos Ischia, assistant of Carlos Bianchi while the Viceroy was coaching in Velez and Boca.
He resigned from the Rosario Central in the middle of this apertura 07~

For those who are not up-to-date with Boca's current campaign ...

Won their matches for Round 1 and 3 beating Gimnasia Jujuy 4-0 and yesterday beat Lanus 2-1, both games at home. The match for Round 2 at Newell's was postponed to Sept 3rd, as Boca played a friendly against Barza for the Gamper that weekend.

For the Recopa (the equivalent of the UEFA Supercup), Boca beat Arsenal 3-1 at Arsenal, and will be playing at home this Wednesday the 2nd Leg. Away goal rule applies (just as in UEFA tournaments).

In the meantime, Boca just brought 1 player this semester ... Central' Diaz. Sold Ledesma to Italy, Boselli to Estudiantes, Franzoia to Central, Bertolo to Banfield ... Maidana is suppossed to be going to the Ukraine and youngster Monzon (Argentine Olympic team starter) to Betis. The objective has been to keep the core of the first team and give the youngsters some playing action this semester.

Yesterday, captain Martin Palermo tore his cruxiate ligaments of the right knee and will be out of action for 7-8 months. This is a serious blow, as Boca sold Palermo's sub for the past few years, Mauro Boselli, to Estudiantes. It is highly probable that Boca will turn to Pavone, playing at Betis to replace Palermo momentarily.

The story of Palermo is a true roller coaster of emotions. He is tied as the top scorer in Boca's history and needed to score only once more to become the highest scorer. Now, he will have to go thru 7 months sidelined and to extra train to comeback at 35 yrs. I have no doubt he will return, and that he will be given a chance again ... this is the 2nd time that he tears the cruxiate ligaments of that knee, the first time in 1999.

Aguante Boca!!!
