De La Pena's fly-like eyes (according to ray hudson) served them well. To bad FCB won't be the first team in Barcelona with hardware this year!

It was your sig that reminded me of the barca vs. espanyol derby in which ray hudson made those comments. It has immortalized de la pena in my mind ;) .
And yes at least the first trophy came from catalunya, may the next two as well!
Espanyol has gotta be one of the club's that hates Barca as much as Real Madrid does, so CONGRATS!! :p
Congrats also to Juanfran (Real Madrid should get him back, he's only on loan) and Luis Garcia, who scored 2 goals, also a Madridista

Just saw the game myself. Good (though not great) performance by Espanyol, especially the three attacking players (De La Peña, Tamudo, and Luis Garcia) and the two central defenders, who didn't let D Milito and Ewerthon have an inch of space.
I feel bad for Cani, though; he seemed to be the player most likely to drag RZ back into the match, after switching over to the right wing in the second half. But he limped off with what looks like a twisted ankle just a few minutes before the whistle.
Cesar is awful; RZ should look at getting a new keeper.
This makes me happy, especially since Espanyol's league form has been pretty dire this season. If Espanyol can stay up this year, I might go watch some of their matches next winter when I'm in Barcelona. :)

You called us "racist chumps" so I'm allowed to tell you whatever I want. You don't know nothing, repeat NOTHING about spanish league, so please stop telling nonsenses. If you ever want to know something, I'll maybe explain you.
BTW, what the hell do you want to say with the "a team from castilla" thing?

Stupid jerk, what kind of nonsense are you allowed to say??
I'll tell you in my own language...GILIPOLLAS.
I wonder do you go to Zaragoza games? Maybe if you do, you should reserve some of your anger for those fans that are involved in the monkey chantings and giving the club and the city a bad name.

go away! shoo! Why are you trying to flame? The fact of the matter is that enough fans at the romareda insulted black players this year to make the comments i made. Is everyone that is a zaragoza supporter a racist dick? Of course not, but when there is a problem that is systemic in the stadium you have to blame the team's establishment for not cleaning up their act.
A certain team from castilla would be rm ... i thought that would be obvious; that i would not want rm to win anything.
dolpiaza made a good suggestion. Go to zaragoza games and start a campaing to get those classless idiots out of your stands. Maybe then you'll gain some respect from the rest of the primera.
I also congratulate you on your superb self assurance and undoubtedly insightful opinion that i know NOTHING about spanish soccer.

I do not reserve nothing of my anger for them. The club and the city are above that 4 stupids.
And after all, I wonder if you ever know what your talking about. Do you know who is Alvaro? Or better, do you know who is Ronaldinho? Is he black (Ronaldinho)? Yes? So, if he is...why they didn't make that sounds to Ronaldinho?
The chants were also made to Alvaro and to Ewerthon when we played in Les Corts against Barsa. I didn't read anyone saying Barsa fans are racist. What do you have to say?

First. Madrid isn't Castilla. Since 1981, I think. Madrid is in Madrid Community. Try to read something before posting nonsense. Castilla teams would be...Albacete (Castilla La Mancha) or Valladolid, Salamanca, Burgos or Numancia (Castilla Leon). C'mon, try again. It's not so difficult.
Second. When you made your comment, you was insulting all the Zaragoza fans. What would you think if I tell American are bastards. Or Holland people are nazis.
It makes me funny reading some opinions of people around internet, watching TV and reading foreing newspaper, never knowing what's really happening in La Liga. If you know something about La Liga, you wouldn't say that.

I laugh and laugh and laugh :D .
Artificial borders drawn to make Madrid in it's own district mean nothing to someone who is knowledgeable about history my friend. Madrid is a team from castilla and nothing from 1981 will change that.
You're such a flamer, I love it. Your antics really mean nothing to me - though I must point out where you are wrong - especially since you are from spain and you don't know your own history. It was a good thing when the mosque of cordoba was converted in the 13th century to a cathedral, right? The burning of some of the greatest works of Maimonedes is also a triumph of the retaking of al-andalus, right? learn2think.
Another issue you bring up so eloquently, is the issue of ronaldinho and ewerthon being black. It is a well established truth in the footballing community that many racists in football overlook the skin color of a player if they are not from africa. That is - a dark skinned brazillian (or indian even) is not treated the same way as a black african. Being African seems to be even more heinous and unforgiveable to the racists of the footballing world.
You go on to assume that by saying that, 'the racist chumps at the romareda need to clean up their act' I am trying to say that a whole group of spaniards are racist. Subsequently you assert masterfully that you could say that americans are bastards (untrue i know many american children with two married parents!), and that all dutch people are nazis (trying to pick on my favorite national team are you?). This assertion makes no sense, in that I have not attacked the spanish people or civilization in anyway. I have not even attacked a population in a city. What i have attacked is the stupidity of many zaragoza fans in the stadium. You can not deny this stupidity, and you can not deny the relative apathy with which the club and governing bodies have dealt with the situation.
As to your neg rep about my comments being stupid - you are entitled to your opinion. But I hope you understand that I am not trying to degrade your culture or people. In my original comment I said I was glad Espanyol won the cup and that Zaragoza lost because it would be a shame to have those racist people celebrating in their own mess of biggotry. Clean up your fans - you'll gain more respect.
Barcelona fans are by no means angels. Though I watched the games you speak about where the Barca fans chanted. I didn't see them making monkey sounds or other degrading chants based on race. And while i'm sure it does happen, I've never seen it to the degree of what i saw happen at the romareda this season at the camp nou.
For the record, I watch football games, I don't read newspaper/tabloids. My comments are based solely on my experience watching football this year.

Google is a wonderful thing after all.
Did you ever know the histoy of the Kingdom of Aragon? I'll recommend you, it's very interesting. If you try to speak of another times, let's talk about it. Just a quick lesson. Castilla and Aragon were the two kingdoms that coped all the spanish territories. Madrid was in Castilla. Zaragoza was the capital of Aragon, who included territories like Valencia, Greece...and Barcelona. So if Madrid is a team from Castilla, Barsa is a team from Aragon. Funny?.
You are lucky my english is so poor that I can't write exactly what I'm trying to say, altough I understand your posts.
The funniest thing is that everyone in Spain knows that the most racist fans in all the 1st Division are the fans of Español de Barcelona, who did the monkey chants to his own goalkeeper Kameni.
And after all, I should say that Español deserves that win. They were by far better than us.
Man, football it's a game. Nothing about political or "artificial borders" or anything. A game. 11 against 11. If you try to go further, you should get better information. Watching TV games didn't give you a good point to talk with such attiude about a league. Try to be a more respectful. Or you can watch that interesting beisbol games...pitcher, catcher, ball one...ouuuuh, what an amusement.

It's a game, surely, but cultures, history, attitudes all play a key role in your support of a football team. Fortunately (or unfortunately some would say) football is like a religion for many people. They live their lives by the schedules of matches, they have rituals that bring luck, they even pray to God for their football team to win. So to say politics, borders, culture don't play into football; I think is a bit naive.
As to not keeping up with the tabloid press, I don't like media outlets in the first place. They distort the truth beyond moral bounds.
As far as respect. I'm sorry if i offended you, but I don't and won't mask my feelings about how the fans at the romareda acted this season. It was appalling and i fault the fans, team, and their governing body. You *CAN* dictate the culture of your club, and it's up to the fans and the rest of the organization. I'm sorry if this offends you. But it's not lack of respect - it's disgust. I feel the same way about what happened with atletico madrid this year. Their fans crossed the line too many times.
Baseball doesn't suck as bad as most people think it does. It just takes some getting used to ;-). Cricket falls under that category too!
The ancient history you mention in your post is interesting (I'm an amateur historian - but mostly of the middle east). Contrary to what you may think - I've been to la mezquita catedral in cordoba. I've walked inside - been amazed by it's grace. I've read the works of maimonedes and ibn-rushd. I've studied andalusia and the inquisition of the years after the fall of the moors. I am not as ignorant as you may think, and I dont' have to prove it to you - I just want you to know that I enjoy the spanish culture and enjoy it's people.
