Blatter suggested the idea ... as to why not? :D :D :D http://www.ole.clarin.com/diario/2006/04/13/um/blatter.jpg This if Brazil doesn't pull it thru.

that would be unreal killer!!! :D :D :D South America would be one heck of a place to be during that month!!
Would they be allowed to use the facilities they have in place now? I doubt they could afford to build the stadia required for a World Cup.
I think yesterday the minister of sports from Chile, Carolina Depassier, said that they would not agree to a co-hosted world cup with Argentina but they would rather support Brasil in 2014..."chupate ese caramelo ;)"

Blatter was rather scathing about Brazil's situation. He basically said that Brazil has 0 (ZERO!) stadia ready to host the World Cup. It is as if he trying to get CONMEBOL to change their minds (at Brazil being the sole candidate). But everything is hypothetical regarding who gets to host the 2014. It has not been decided that South America will get it then. It is wishful thinking, and it is probably South America's turn (seeing how it was last held in 1978). But this is not certain folks! Maybe Canada can host it :)

Is there a thread for WC2014? :D
Anyway, Colombia and Brazil were the only two countries who wanted to host the WC14...! However Colombia doesn't want to host it anymore which means that Brazil will get it if they prove to FIFA they can!
BRAAAAAAZIL! :)
Yeah, I've just read this on a website around here, looks like 2014 will be here. FIFA representants were here a few weeks ago checking out the stadiums for the 2010 WC Qualis, and some of them didn't exactly fit into their standards. And this is not even considering the problems about transportation so much.
Brazil has a lot of work to do if they really wanna host 2014

How can they handle the violence/crime with soooo many tourists coming to the WC? You think it is possible?

Honestly? I have serious doubts about that. As much as I would love to see a WC here, I think it would be much safer and better organized in a place like Canada.. They were thinking about bidding, but I think they gave up too.
Rio de Janeiro is hosting the PanAmerican games this next July, that should be a good test to see if Brazil is really ready to host big international events.
If things go relatively well, then we'll have plenty of time to work on the details, learn from possible mistakes and make sure things go perfectly in 2014. But if we have any kind of more serious problems, I'm not even sure if FIFA will be confident enough to let us host it, because the WC is a far bigger event than the Panamerican games.
How recently has Brazil even hosted the Copa America? Can they even handle that in your opinion?

I don't think Canada have a chance at getting 2014; we would get it if no South American country can host :p.

According to Wikipedia, 1989 :P
I can't even remember the last time Brazil hosted a high-profile international competition (we hosted the women's world basketball championship last year, but that can't hardly be mentioned, popularity-wise. And it was a disaster, it was supposed to be in Rio, but they transferred it to São Paulo with just a few weeks before the games, because the arena wasn't ready. The arenas here were unprepared, one of them even dripped water on the court when it rained. I went to some games and I saw players slip and fall at least 4 times during the championship).
I think we could do a fairly decent job in a Copa America, because there wouldn't be so many people, the pressure wouldn't be so strong, and we could probably use our own installations, unlike the WC.
But then, the rivalries between fans could be worse. The WC has a bit of a "friendly" feel to it that the Copa America doesn't have
Funny thing is, there are 3 months left until the Panamerican games start, and many of the buildings and arenas are not finished yet. And all the construction work is coming out 800% more expensive than predicted.
I can only imagine what would happen on a WC
