Barca fans: Do you still hate Giuly?

From what I have seen of late, he's been sensational. Surely you cannot hate him now with the form he has been in?

I've always been very fond of Giuly, but in my eyes, Messi is the clear first choice. I would be sad if he left, but on the other hand, a player like him shouldn't be benched.

Well I had never nothing against him :) Usually he is very irritating with all of his bars and posts and so on, but also adds some pace to the game and sometimes produces perfect shot. So no, I don't mind him :)

Giuly is one of my favourite players and I've never hated him, regardless on his form at Barca. Now that Larsson and Messi are injured, he should be in the starting eleven against Milan. I hope he takes full advantage of this chance.

My top 15 fav. players are from Barca and he is one of them. He is not my most fav. (like Xavi, Puyol, Ronnie) but I like him a lot. When he is in form he is playing very well, but I too think Messi is the first choice. Messi just has something special but now when he is injured and Giuly has been in sensational form I don`t worry too much before the Milan game.
Unfortunately I haven`t seen last 2 Barca games (first ones this season) coz these DUMB copyright losers or whoever messed up this forum(with torrents).

What bad luck? Having not won anything since 1999, Barca bought Giuly and won La Liga in the very next season. I know, maybe he didn't contribute to the team as much as Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Xavi, Puyol or Deco did, but, with 11 goals, he was the 2nd goalscorer of the team. I admit that he has been unlucky constantly hitting either the post or the crossbar. But you can't say that he brought bad luck to the club.

Yeah, I can't see him in their next season squad either, especially if Henry joins Barca this summer. I wish Giuly returned to Monaco...

i've bitched quite abit about him before.. but now that his playing time has been cut by alot i dont mind him :) hes been coming off the bench of late and that is a decent use of his talents. now he will get to start some matches that larsson and messi are both injured.. i sincerely wish him to play well because its about the team, not the individuals. i can bitch about him all i want but deep down i still want him to play well so we can win :) but i still think we can let him go and sign someone who has more versatility. we'd probably be able to get a decent transfer fee for him too, since so many people seem to think hes so good.

He's definitely not my favourite player, but why hate him? He's got unbelieveable pace, but lacks in technique. He reminds me of Saviola, whom I'd prefer to see in Barca's shirt :wink: Anyways I wish him luck when onfield, cause he's still playing for the good of my team :D

I never hated him, I don't think Ludo has really adjusted in Barca, he's definitely a shadow of his former self but he still is a threat when push comes to shove... we all have seen what he's capable of I just don't know why he hasn't been able to replicate his form from the Lyon days.

I do not hate giuly, though i do not think he adds much to the team. Right now he's important because we have some very unfortunate injuries which are not typical.

He's quick, no doubt, but he's not a great assist, he doesn't cross that well, and he hits the bar 8 times out of 10 (how does he DO that). I think the problem is that he's used to recieving the ball in space, and in reality what barca needs him to do is to create the space - not have the space created by the center forward with a run. This is where messi is much better than giuly, messi can create space on the ball - giuly doesn't do that as well. Giuly would perform better under circumstances where the forward was surging forward and drawing defenders ... but that doesn't happen very often in the barca offense. This is also why when samuel eto'o is playing on the wing that he has problems. Eto'o is also not good at creating space on the ball - he's much better at running into space.

I've said space a million times in the last paragraph, but I really think that giuly isn't the right guy for the position on this team. I also think that frank should stop having eto'o play on the left side when larsson is in and move a midfielder over playing both larsson and eto'o forward (this situation has arisen because of injuries and or not having the normal attacking players in the game). It's a defensive risk or sure, but I think it is why we had that drought for 3 or 4 games.

No That isn't true , Perez kicked Real out or was it Quieroz?? Anyway Giuly is a Good player but Barca have better players. Hehe no need to hate players , there are worse things in the world.

I've always liked Giuly. Certainly Messi is more unpredictable and exceptional, but the Frenchman is trustworthy. He's got pace and quite a good technique, but most of all, he's a true team player. He works very hard, helps the defense and is never selfish. That's why I'd like to keep him next season also. I haven't heard him complain about sitting on the bench.

Rijkaard's tactics isn't quite made for Giuly. Sometimes he would need more space to run into. Not so much wrong with Rijkaard, though. ;)

Its always gonna seem like fans hate a player when they're not playing well. Many players have gone through it. Look at Ronaldo right now. But as soon as he starts to find the net they'll love him again.

Guily is very inconsistant though and in a team like barca, that isn't a good virtue because they will bring in someone better. Personally I like guily for is speed, but if he could just complete a pass at the end of some of those runs what a better player he would be. Because he can't and he is getting older, i'm sure barca will use him to bring in a more efficient winger. I mean thats football. If your not playing well you for almost a whole season, you should worry about your job security.

Keep working on your efficiency Guily... A player at that level on a Barca team should not miss so much....

I like the guy, i think he misses the net alot, but, at the very least, he's a threat on the pitch that needs to be adressed by defenders, which opens up space for Ronnie and eto'o. And lets face it guys, it seems that untill Barca hits a defence that shuts those two(three including messi) down, thats all everyone else on the pitch is going to be 80% of the time. Distractions for the opposition defence so that Ronnie and dynamic trio can put the ball in the net.
He's had some fabulously exciting misses this season though :rolleyes:

Barcelona supporters in the stadium and people who regularly watch Barça matches don´t hate Giuly. He was a starter last year scoring lots of goals for Barcelona and this year he has played less minutes (Messi) but always scoring when he had the chance.

He has never been whistled in Nou Camp, but far from it he has always been praised when he is in the pitch, as he is always running and defending when Barça is not in possession.
In the roster, rest of players adore him because he is always trying to make jokes and improve the atmosphere between everyone.

People than talk about Barça without knowing is prone to be OWNED.

1) A true Barca fan does not hate any Barca player, to say nothing of Giuly.
2) He may not be the best finisher, but he always work REALLY hard on the pitch and he has a GREAT personality. I think most of the ones who criticise Giuly are the ones who watch only Highlights of the game so they see him only missing or something. But he is a big work animal and that compensates every mistake what he does in the front of the goal. ;)

Thats my opinion of this who-hates-Giuly-and-who-doesn`t ;)

sorry guys but simply 'trying' to do your best isnt really good enough. when a player had as many chances to shine as giuly did over the last 2 years and he doesnt deliver.. you end up getting quite tired of seeing him 'try'.

theres one simple fact that all of us have to realize..

giuly has not played at the level at which he was expected to perform when he was signed from monaco.

he has been pushed aside by messi and i think that he has fully accepted that because messi out performs him every second he is on the pitch. i've gained more respect for giuly since he was put on the bench, because he has really shown that he has a great attitude and will to play. even tho he missed so many starts and came on as a sub, he was still 100% with barca. gotta love that.

It's true that Giuly is not "a-man-for-the-future-Barza" like Leo Messi is.

Sometimes Giuly will make a really good move and handle the ball the right way.
Sometimes he fails - and looks awkward - compared to Messi and Larsson.

But I "love" him when he gets it right because then it's often something spectacular to watch.
Like that last one. ;)

If barca decide they need a better backup for messi then id love to see him play for a smaller team in spain rather than go back to france. He was brilliant for monaco in the CL so he can defenitely perform against good teams.

Of course if liverpool decide to invest in a real winger and can get guily cheap then id love to see him given another chance playing for a big team :)
