1469 VS 1470

As the massive game between the league Champions Chelsea & the European Champions Liverpool arrive this weekend in the FA Cup semifinal bout. There is no doubt their will be alot of tension between the two managers who've faced each other numerous times this season. And once again there ready to square it off, the last and final time this season. Who do you think has the talent and toughness to go through to the Finals?? Will Chelsea crush Liverpool like they did in two league games this season, or will the Reds put there foot down and surprise the Blues at Old trafford?

Put your predictions down and comments to the game..

To be honest, it's a bit of a bonus round for me - but the domestic double would be a treat.

Let's hope that nobody has to go to the 'ozpital' this time!

What an irony, the match between Liverpool and Chelsea being played in Manchester!

Although Liverpool's goal scoring form came alive in the last month or so, it has again dried up in the recent times. Chelsea is just one point shy of the premiership title, and looking good. So being very unbiased, I think Chelsea will win it.

Ch£l$ki's thoughts still lie with clinching the title, hence an easy Liverpool win 3-0 :D

This is an excellent opportunity for Liverpool to record a big win against Chelsea. Liverpool have been resting Gerrard, Crouch, Morientes, Kewell etc. in the last few games and they have a fully fit and fresh squad whereas Chelsea may be playing without Cech and a tired first team. Also for Jose, the game against ManU is a matter of prestige and he'd like to settle all the doubts by putting his best foot forward against ManU.
Liverpool have all their focus on the FA Cup and are more than capable of trouncing Chelsea.
Players like Morientes and Garcia have been Chelsea's namesis in semi finals anyway. I think this could well be a big win for Liverpool unless Chelsea decide to just sit back and defend.

To be honest I think Chelsea is going to win. Point taken that Liverpool have "rested" their players, but in fairness, does it make a difference? Chelsea have guys like Crespo and Joe Cole play 30 minuets of football in the league. I think it would be fair to say that the players for Chelsea won't exactly be exhausted (sean-wright phillips, Robben, all fresh blood).

Boys, do it for the fans. Do it for your pride, and put one up on Chelsea this season. Give it your best and we won't lose. Simple as that.

Any day now, we will hear this comment coming from a certain Sir Topham Hatt:

"Ve know ow to beat Jelsea",

Shortly followed by Jamie Caaaaaaaaarragher saying:

"Chelsea are afraid of us".

The pressure is on Liverpool, we have little left to prove this season, whereas it is their last chance to get something. I think it would be reasonable to say this game is much more important to them, and thus up to them to set the pace of the game. I hope we see the Premiership Liverpool side (attacking), as opposed to the nick-one-shut-up-shop Champions League approach. If that happens, we will have a fantastic match on our hands, albeit full of controversy.

As for our players being tired - unlikely, 5 days rest is a massive amount of time for players at the peak of their fitness. We'll probably even see the same starting line, since it is working so well, and it would be great to test it against a big side like Liverpool.

Looking forward to it.

I didn't realise Rafa was German  :p

Yes, this is a bigger game for us than it is for you, but that could work in our favour - we'll be more hungry for it, and Chelsea might be a bit complacent after sewing up the title and your two victories over us in the league. It'll be a tight one though, both teams playing tentatively at first, and unfortunately, whoever scores first will probably shut up shop.

I think the crowd (of which I'll be part of - woohoo!) will have a lot to do with it. Liverpool fans will show you Chelsea lot how to support a team.

Come on you Reds!

We sold our allocation

Enjoy the match - wish I wasn't stuck 6000 miles away :(

Your allocation is 15,000 seats compared to a 60,000 strong Liverpool crowd. I don't think there is any doubt who will enjoy the vocal support at least.

Nope - we got 30k, the same as Liverpool.

How can we have 4 times more tickets allocated to us than Chelsea?

Fair enough the game means more to us because we've got a realistic chance for domestic silverware (Chelsea will already have sewn up the title) but that doesn't mean we have to go all out and attack. If you notice Rafa likes to play on the counter attack against Chelsea. This is because you lot are more devastating when on the counter attack than when you have to break down a team with 10 men behind the ball. If you give a team like Chelsea time and space, they'll punish you.

If you look at the CL games and the Carling Cup final it almost worked both times. We got the early goal in the CL and defended the rest of the game with our lives. If we'd gone all out in search for a second goal you would have most definitely equalised. In the Carling Cup final the same tactic almost worked a treat until Gerrard's unfortunate own goal. I think the problem with that game was that we scored WAY to early (in the first minute) With that we had to practically defend throughout the rest of the match.

You want to see us attacking like in the Premiership because that would suit Chelsea nicely (the results says it all :()

Yep,

giving an early goal away to Chelsea would spell BIG trouble for us because if we're ever put in a position to chase the game it would suit Chelsea the most. The premiership game ruined by Traore (although we did equalise) was the case where we started chasing towards the end and Cheslea were deadly with their counter chances.

If we defend well in the first 20 mins, it should remain tight for the rest of the match I think.

75,000 Old trafford. Old trafford can only hold, is it 71,000 right now due to their recent upgrade. Start of next season is it 76,000 and then season after 92,000 or somthing? Impressive to say the least.

I don't know how the FA would allocate more to LIverpool than to Chelsea, it suppose to be neautral ground meaning it would allocate the same amount as one another.

So you're predicting a 0-0 + a replay?

Wouldn't be too far off I reckon.

Seems like everyone is predicting a boring match! Or even hoping for one!
Since this thread is titled 'The FA Cup semifinal bout', maybe it's time to discuss the other semi final, West Ham vs Boro. Two attacking teams who have good forwards and 'suspect' (at times) defences. Now there's a game I would rather watch ;)

Come on yuuuuuu Irons!!!

Boro have been in good form recently. I would fancy them to go through but only by a slim margin. 2-1 or 1-0

That's retarded. It can't fit 75,000 people yet, and for nuetral venues they split the allocations in half. So it'll be around 35,000 each if I remember correctly.

I think the stadium can hold a little over 72,000. the Sunderland match had an attendance of around 72,500. so that'll be about 36,000 fans each, like randy said, they split it for each side.

What are you guys thinking....???

Saurabh has made arrangements for 75000(the coach and the subs will be seated in the locker room...and extra chairs placed near the sidelines for the fans to increase capacity) and gave 60000 seats to the pool fans...while the chelsea fans only get 15000. Don't U underestimate our man Saurabh................silly :p

He has recently sold Stevie G to madrid, kept Xabi and now given you the crowd support advantage with the doctored seat assignments....What more can u ask of a fan. :D :D :D
