Farewell to one of England's true greats!!!

I love Shearer for always hammering the ball, no matter if it's from far distance or a easy lay in. GET IN THERE!

Really hope that he can at least play 10 minutes or something, in his testimonial.

He is still hopeful that he will be able to play some part in his testimonial against Celtic at St James's Park on 11 May.

Nevr really liked him TBH but he's still a great footballer. Sad he had to end his career like this

it's a real shame, seeing as there's only 3 more games to go. best striker England have produced IMO

I didn't believe he would retire until it actually happened.
I guess now there's no denying it.

If Newcastle get into the Champions League next season, somehow I wonder if he'll pop up. ;)

Sad way to finish up one's career but lets face it there are only 3 more games to go. Hopefully he'll be back for his testimonial match as he deserves it more than anyone. :)

i thought he suffered a medial ligament injury? if so, can't seem him playing anything other than a walk-on (literally) part in his testamonial, which is May 11th (edited).

great great striker, and great player in general. Pity that he won't be able to play at his own testimonial. They should organize another one involving the England national team as well, once he has recovered.

DAVID May SUPERSTAR, got more medals than Shear-Ar!

Sad to see such a great player have to retire due to injury. Wish he could stay around for a few years more. Man was pure class

he was a tw4t, always had the referee's onside, his perfectly timed elbows to players heads went un-noticed time and time again, one of the most hated players imo ever. could score goals tho.
