i would love them playing for india as well but at this point i don't think a player from england would come into the setup that we've got to jeopardize any possible playing career.

so he is Indian
i know chopra refused to play for India and most likely all of the others will too :( which sucks cause all of them are elidgable untill they play for the national first team of another country under the new rules
but come to think of it all those players + current squad and we might have a half good starting 11
plus finally Nike took over the team jersey and the new one is pretty good, gonna pick one up soon :)

uugh those jerseys suck soccer balls...the other with the strips are better. nevertheless where can you buy one...oh and by the way vikash has already capped for france...and fm2006 only recognizes vijayy and bains as indian nationals

It would be nice to see.Kanoute (who even played for france u-19's i think) decided to play for mali. The younghusband brothers at chelsea have 'chosen' the phillipines over england.
So many examples of this happening with other countries. If someone like chopra decides to play for india, i'm sure others will follow.
The only way I can see such a move being detrimental to a player's career is that he will have to miss games for his club to play in the tournaments.

not true just look at Karthekeyan (sp?) and Sania mirza and even the Hockey team, if someone does good then there are enough people to capatalize on it and pour in money.

Has India ever done anything football wise? I've never heard of an Indian team in AFC Champions League, Asia Cup or Tiger Cup (isn't that the UEFA Cup equivalent?) I think that accounts for players looking elsewhere.
You know what they say, real men play cricket :D
Is Chopra really Indian? He doesn't look it if you catch my drift ;) Or is that a South Africa type situation as in the case of Dave Matthews being South African.
There was an old rumor that used to float around when I was in the 4th grade that India was banned because they used magic to beat the other teams. Supposedly when a player took a shot the other keeper saw knives flying at him.......LOL! I know those stories are stupid and ignorant but they were just so funny. Everybody would go overobard acting out scared keepers. It was so funny.........<changes tone> but completely incorrect and I denounce it.............LOL! :D

East Bengal are pretty good and do half desent in AFC Champs league and have won a few cups of late in S E Asian tornuments and even beat CSKA MOscow at some point if i remember correctly :)
plus there is Mohun Bagan too who do good once in a while.
As for India, they can't play in Tiger cup as it's only for SE Asia ie, Former French polinysia.
Oh they beat Singapore in WC qualifying and played good against Japan......well good in a different sort of way :)
