This lad was once considered by many (including myself) to be utter rubbish and baggage to the Liverpool football club.

His high wages were a complete misuse of and an expendable burden on the club's resources.

I wished he was sold off or at least kept off the pitch until he could be, so distraught at the sense of being 'deceived' by his ever promising arrival.

How wrong I was, and how glad I am now to have been wrong.

Harry Kewell turned back the clock yesterday against Chelsea and finally showed the fans and critics 'THE BURN' we used to see 2-3 years ago in his Leeds days.

He burned the shit out of'em.

Then he did it again.

We knew he was starting to contribute this season and phrases like "back to his best" were rather hastily thrown about, with those whose memories weren't what they used to be also hastily accepting such analysis.

But after yesterday's quiet run out at Old Trafford maybe "back to his best" is exactly what Harry is. :)

P.S. He grabbed his groin yesterday before coming off with a limp and we haven't heard any news about a possible injury. Should we be worried?????

I am very happy for Harry Kewell. Rafa kept his faith in Harry for two years and Harry responded by giving Rafa the performance that was needed at a "time most appropriate". Very good of Harry, and I am also very proud of Sissoko, Luis, Riise, Reina and Xabi for doing it when their manager's reputation and our club's pride was at stake.

I don't think Harry is injured but he will be rested for sure. ;)

Yeah, he was great yesterday, especially in the first half were he completely skinned Geremi (was it Geremi?) on a number of occassions.

You Aussies must be made up!

and 1 good performance against a poor Chelsea team makes him the best ever. i can see a bid coming from Morinho's mob in the not too distant future.

I don't want to attack you personally on your intelligence so I'll keep it as civil as possible. How on earth do you reach the conclusion you have after reading my post?

....and, in fairness, his form this season, particularly since Christmas, has been very good. Maybe not 'back to his best', but certainly better than last season.......

Starting to be the Harry we expected when he signed, hopefully this injury is not too serious

What I like about Harry is that even when he's not playing at his best, he always tries his best on the pitch. He's not back to his Leeds form, but he's improved greatly after his surgery. I haven't heard anything about the injury he sustained against Chelsea, so I assume he hasn't suffered a setback.

Here's (http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/NG152148060424-2121.htm) a great article about Harry's improvement this season, from .tv. (Great anticipation, Lonso! :D)

Kewell concern unwarranted
By David Lewis
April 25, 2006

HARRY Kewell last night refused to let a groin injury dampen his FA Cup celebrations, or cast a cloud on his World Cup prospects.

The danger signs flashed in the minds of fans from Merseyside to Australia when the winger was replaced 12 minutes from the end of Liverpool's FA Cup semi-final win over Chelsea on a weekend that also saw fellow Australia stars Tim Cahill, Mark Schwarzer and Mark Viduka consigned to sick bays.

Aware of Kewell's past history of groin operations, long absences and bitter frustration, a collective shudder gripped the Socceroos camp when a grimacing Kewell disappeared down the tunnel at Old Trafford.

But Kewell, 27, last night insisted there was no need to bring out the worry beads.

"The injury is fine," he declared. "It was just a minor strain and I've had the all-clear from the doctor. These things can happen and I'm not overly concerned. I'm just looking forward to getting back as soon as I can."

Reprising the form which four years ago tagged him as one of the top five attacking midfielders in Europe, Kewell faces two weeks on the sidelines but will be back in good time for May 13's FA Cup final between Liverpool and West Ham United at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium

Hope to see him again soon.;)

Reina? Didn't he cost you a goal? Should have stayed in his goal, instead of going out, and ended looking a bit silly. Almost like King Kong bashing for those planes.

But congratulations with the final :D

yeh our lad Hazza had his best game in the red & white, cheers to the man, for keeping his chin up through the tough times. There will no boiing H.K from the KOP that's for sure, anyone find Mourinho's tactics against us very poor...Geremi defending Harry? What was he thinking? One of our weaknesses is attacking using the wings, and placing Geremi there to look after Hazza just removed the trouble we usually have in the flanks.

Again well done Kewell for returning back to your best and congrats to Liverpool in putting in a solid performance. YNWA Lads, let's carry this momentum into Cardiff

- hopefully H.K's niggle isnt too serious

Harry played unbeleavibly well this past game against Chel$ki. I am very happy to see him playing this way. This is the Harry that we bought from Leeds. He is finally back to that form after fighting through all the injuries and crap. During the semi final game he was all over the pitch. Seemed as if every time he touched the ball Liverpool were putting pressure on the Chelsea net. Very pleased to see him playing like this of late and hope he can keep the form through the world cup.

That situation was debatable. Riise's back header was weak and that gave Reina two choices. One,stay on his line and let Drogba take a touch allowing him to be one on one with Reina. Although if Reina went this route and the ball bounced closer to him than anticipated, he would have no angle to play and Drogba would have had an easy goal. Second, come off his line and do what he has done many times before, take the ball away from the attacker. As noted, Reina has gone for the 50-50 ball a dozen or so times before and has been succesful, so I would not fault him for coming out as he did.

And the fact that he gave drogba a punch to the head is rather humourous.

Firstly...

Harry, Harry Keweellll
Harry, Harry Keweellll

Top class from Harry against Chelsea. He ran their whole back 4 ragged and if only he had scored from his run where he got past 2 Chelsea defenders. Glad that Rafa kept the faith with him as we always knew he was top class. Well chuffed for the lad :)

I reckon Reina should have stayed on the line. The goal was a result of 2 mistakes, 1 from Riise who should have used his right foot to clear the ball and 1 from Reina who shouldn't have rushed out. If you look at the replay, Carra (or Hyypia) was closing down Drogba and if Drogba had taken an extra touch he would not have had the time to have a clear shot on goal.

When Reina came rushing out Drogba didn't need to take an extra touch and he just needed to get there ahead of Reina which he did unfortunately. Poor decision making from both Riise and Reina but lets not be too harsh. I think that was 1 of only 2 mistakes we made defensively (another one was the Joe Cole chance right at the death where Finnan played him onside I think)

i think he just couldn't resist taking a swing at drogba. and none of us can blame him for that :D

As another cool dude on this mighty forum pointed out, there was another Liver defender close to the situation, and by the time Drogba would have gotten the ball under control, he would tackled him/distracted him.

I really do think, that he just wanted to bash Drogba in the head :D But you won, and you don't give a damn! :p
