Martin Resigns

Real Madrid's turbulent season continued as Fernando Martin resigned as club president after losing a vote of confidence at a board meeting.

Director Luis Gomez-Montejano will take over as the club's president until elections can be held.

It was Martin's first full board meeting since succeeding Florentino Perez, who stepped down in February.

Real will end the campaign without a trophy for the third successive season, their worst run in more than 50 years.

There really needs to be a healthy competitive rivalry between RM and Barca to keep the La Liga as interesting as it has been in the past.

The way seems to have been cleared for Sanz to get back in control. Just as I supposed it would happen. Martin was just a puppet of Perez.....he wouldn't have brought any significant changes.

Bring in Sanz and we will have a good team next year. He knows the football business and he has more of an idea what the game is about. Okay, we f*cked up financially when he was in control, but hey......this can't happen again. We're the richest club of the world right know.

I think this is not the way to improve Real Madrid. Now we have to wait until the elections(about July) to signs players and the new coach. All the teams will have advantage to negotiate with players. I think they should have waited at least to the new season.
The board make him to resign by a 15:1 vote, but not for a special reason, they just don't like that Florentino Perez gives him the power. But the funny thing that Florentino Perez is the person who has influenced in the board to make Martin to resign. This is because he doesn't like the way Martin is leading the club, the possibilities of Del Bosque return or Camacho return, etc...
Fernando Martin is going to be a candidate, and i prefer him for president more than the others candidates.
Other candidates are:
- Carlos Sainz (the rally driver, you must know him)
- Baldasano (he didn't get more than 2% in the last election)
- Juanito Navarro (an spanish comedian)
- Lorenzo Sanz (no comments... just >> MAFIA)
