View Full Version : Lampard going elsewhere?

With the imminent arrival of Ballack, the UK press has been hinting that Lampard might make way (especially with Kenyon's recent comments).

Thus, I was thrown into a tizzy that United might be able to persuade Lampard to Old Trafford, and finally secure a stellar center mid. (Lampard is, and always has been, pure class.)

:D

But then I realized this was the UK football press. And I realized how dumb of a suggestion that was. Whatever Ballack's abilities, the bedrock of Chelski's domination has lain directly at the feet of Terry & Lampard.

Oh well.

It is not quite so farfetched as it might seem. You are right that Chelsea would probably do better keeping Lampard in their ranks. But there have also been rumblings that he is interested in going to Spain as his wife is unsettled and was back there looking around Barcelona. She could have been visiting family.. maybe looking for a place.. who knows these days?

i don't think barca really needs him. i've heard stuff connecting him and barca a while abck but that's just bull i guess. Van bommel seems to be staying, xavi is fit again and iniesta is playing beautiful, not sure abt deco staying(but i hope he is)...so i guess we don't need lampard.

I know what you're saying kidujp and the rumours have stopped for the last little while.

Although I've never been fully convinced of Iniesta's ability. And van Bommel doesn't seem to get that much of a run out, although he is a fantastic player. Interestingly enough I was looking around the Barca website to recheck my stats (he's only played 17 times in the league and 6 times in the CL)... and he's not even listed on the first team website.

And if Lampard leaves Chelsea there is no way he is staying in the Premiership. It would be tantamount to treason.

Lampard must stay with Chelsea even if Chelsea buys a 100m pound midfiled player. Ballack is coming to Chelsea. But how long will he stay there? He is already 30. He cannot play every match for them. I think he and Lampard will be substituting more often. I dont think Mourinho will want to play Lampard so intensely like he did last season, and even this season. With Ballack, Chelsea now has an efficient and consistant replacement for Lampard.

these can be easily dealt with a simple pm instead of posts in a football thread ;)

anyway I can't see Lamps leaving Chelsea even if Ballack comes to Stamford Bridge. If he leaves it wont be until the season after when Ballack some how proves that Chelsea can functon without Lampard. However atm we have no idea how welll Ballack will adjust to EPL and Chelse'a tactics and it would be a massive gamble for Chelsea to lose such quality as Lampard when the future of the newly signed German is so unclear

Lampard is Chelsea's best player. And he is a much better player than Ballack. Look how many goals Lampard has scored this season, he is Chelsea's leading striker. IMO Chelsea may have struggled to win the Premiership this season without Lampard thats how good he is and how important he is. Ballack?? He's 30, past his best/peak and looks good in the German league (which is not the greatest of leagues) Ok he still is a good player, but he has never played in the Premiership which is very different to anything he has ever played in. To compare him to Lampard and even suggest Lampard would make way for Ballack is as funny as saying that my team (Wolverhampton Wanderes) will sign Rooney and Lampard after the world cup and win promotion then the premiership within two years.
Then again, if Chelsea do off load Lampard, as a netural, I think it will open up the Premiership race next season, because the last two years Chelsea have been too good.

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has ruled out a move to Barcelona - despite the ties of his fiancee Elen.

The England star was runner-up to Ronaldinho in the World Player of the Year award for 2005. And he admitted: "Having grown up watching Barcelona, Elen gets a bit annoyed watching me if I don't do flicks and tricks like Ronaldinho.

"I have to explain you can't do that all the time in a game!"

Lampard, 27, admits he wants to live in Spain with Elen and the couple's daughter Luna but only after he has hung up his boots.

He also revealed he has had no luck trying to show off little Luna in Chelsea colours!

Lamps said: "I would like to live in Spain but only after football.

"Luna is half-Spanish so I want her to get to know Spain well and spend plenty of time there - and, of course, it's sunny there too.

"I bought Luna two Chelsea kits, snuck them into the house and put her in one.

"Elen laughed but took it off and they haven't been out of the drawer since."

I think that should clear everything up..He wont go and if he did Barca will have to shell out a assload of money to get him. Lampard is Chelsea and always will be

For as great of a player as Lampard might be, he is most certainly p***y-whipped. :D

I have to say, I would be very surprised to see any of our core England players leave - Lampard, Terry, J.Cole - for at least another 3 seasons. Terry will never leave.

zaffo

I agree MT...but i hear that J.Cole wants to resign only if he's going to be given first team football....he's not happy about missing the FA Cup and being subbed early in some games eg: When we played Fulham.

I think J.Cole should be playing every match possible he's cearly a top class player now then just a talent.

However i think Duff could be nearing his way out....he's been shite this season and just doesnt seem to impress much anymore same as Gudjohnsen who isnt a midfielder.

They're doing it because it's not hotlinking... hotlinking is taking a picture that is hosted on another site and without any permission putting it on your site (as such if you took somebody's sig image and put it in your sig using img tag without permission it would be hotlinking). It doesn't mean you can't link to another site. If the mods meant it that way, they should write it that way. If not, somebody's a moron here... and I know who.

i thought moaninho planned to play Ballack and Lampard as part of his 'dream team'. (translated as he wants Ballack to stand in the way of Lampard's shots which would ensure a deflection which would increase the probability of him scoring :D).

and i thought the 'him moving to barca because of his fiancee' story was a load of crap.
