I do not mean to insult this wisdom of the KNVB, for I am just a simple Greek man which no comprehension of such complex matters, but what in the **** is this???

2 v 5
3 v 4

Winners of these play for the CL spot. Loser goes straight to UEFA Cup.
Losers play for UEFA Cup. The loser of that match up must play another tie to earn UEFA Cup qualification...

6 v 9
7 v 8

Losers of these ties get nothing. Winners play for the right to play with the remaining team from above for the UEFA Cup. Loser goes to Intertoto.

Why go through all of this? Why reward the 6th place club like that.. Players, club will complain on the extra matches played.. Fans of the higher-ranked clubs will not be happy either.

they probably figured gate reciepts would be higher for knockout games.
also this gives the teams in mid-table obscurity something to play for.
AZ probably aren't too happy with this.:p

Its crap guys..
Even that AJAX won the first playoffs of last season..
but still..
I dont think its fair..
the nr 2 should play the 3rd QF Round of the CL and not the winner of the playoffs..
Anyway thats how I think about it.. ;)
