So who do you think has been Premiership's best mid season signing?
D'Alessandro - For helping Portsmouth stay up.
Fowler - Pretty good whenever called upon.
Agger - Looked good when called upon.
Kromkamp - Provided new options to Liverpool by playing RWB and RM.
Adebayor - Has had a good effect on Arsenal.
Or, do you think its Maniche or Vidic or Evra or Pongolle or anyone else?
Note - You have the option to choose more than one player, for example, you can vote for D'Alessandro as well as Fowler, you will need to tick both names before submitting.

Voted for Adebayor.
Any other day I could have voted D'Alessandro.

The first time for a while that no club made a signing that had a real impact. Robbie Fowler stands out, not for his accomplishment but more for the fact it awoke Anfield.

Fowler, D'Allesandro and Diaby ofcourse. Each have being vital for their team in their own individual way

Manny get my vote. He is a major part of us getting to the CL final. Yes he is not playing that tournament but he is the only other striker we have now. Reyes is playing more of a winger and rvp is out of form. he gave us the option to resting our front guys for CL matches.

D'Alessandro for playing an integral role in Pompey's survival in the Premiership with his playmaking and excellent finishing.
Robbie Fowler for galvanising the Liverpool attack, fomenting and inspiring our new-found scoring touch (started the scoring spree with his goal against Fulham), his winners that gave us valuable points, and simply delighting Anfield with his return (ok this is for purely sentimental reasons hehe) and giving me the excuse to go out and get totally pissed in celebration!:D

D'Alessandro adapted very well to the EPL and added that creative midfield spark pompey lacked which inturned has kept them up.

Vidic for me. he's much better than i expected him to be. really solid.

I voted Vidic. If he was a teensy bit taller IRL (he's 188 cm*) he'd do a little better at winning headers but he's definitely a solid addition to the team.
And he kicks @$$ in FM 2006 :D It seems like everytime I play him I see "Vidic is winning everything in the air today".
* Disclaimer: I'm 184 cm tall so no I'm not mocking him :p

I voted D'Alessandro, though Diaby was also a world class buy:)
and Fowler has also managed to get some confidence in our strikers - that's a really nice thing too :)

This is not some useless scum bashing, but Vidic...seriously? What exactly has he done to justify best mid-season signing? I suppose compared to Silvestre he looks marvellous but he hasn't completely stabilised your defence to be honest. In fact, the times I've watched him, he's looked decidedly shaky in defence. I'm sure he's improved as he's played more and more games (every foreign player needs time to adapt, fair enough) but it's not like he contributed towards some fantastic clean sheets or anything.
No offence intended, by the way, just wondering whether this is loyalty to your team (player) or an accurate assessment of his worth.

I am personaly very happy that Mancs are voting for Vidic. I hope they buy many more players like him. ;) We don't really want them to keep clean sheets, do we?

D'Alessandro wins it for me. He helped Pompey pulled of the great escape although Mendes did also score a couple of crackers for them as well. I don't think Krommy or Agger should be in the list as they haven't had much playing time. Any chance Benitez will swop for D'Alessandro? He sure as well looks like a skillful bugger :p

Evra with 0 votes is a bit generous imo. :D
In all honesty, the lads been shite. He could be the Manc version of Josemi, except probably more expensive (dunno the figures) and definately more expected of him.
I voted for D'alessandro, Adebayor and Folwer!

D'Alessandro of course but not forgetting the other signings that scumknapp made during the transfer window including Mende's for the super goal that changed our season round against Man City and also you cant forget Dean Kielly for making some great saves and last but least "The 12th Man" The pompey Fans for the awesome noise they made this side of 2006 :)
Stay Up Pompey - Pompey Stay Up!
can't believe so many people have voted adebayor - I watch every arsenal match and I openly admit that he sucks!! he's got a long way to go...
I voted D'Alessandro cus he's simply awesome

have you watched the champions league, I think ever since the knockout stages(like when we had manny) Arsenal have been playing 4-5-1, I mean I like the guy and all but I don't think he's made that big of an impact on the CL final.

Chelsea may have won the Championship, but it felt like we had... ...Words can't really describe how fantastic the fans have been. They're so passionate and follow the team for every game. The passion of the Pompey fans is similar to in Argentina. There were so many of them at Wigan. I'll never forget the scenes on the pitch at the end.
I've been playing in Europe for three-and-a-half years, and my time at Pompey has been the best. I'm really happy...
I want to stay here. I like the club both on and off the pitch. I get on really well with the players... ...There are other clubs interested, but my choice is to stay here.
Hands off!

saying evra's been shite is an understatement. I think vidic is exactly what our defence needs, someone alongside ferdinand who is intelligent and is fearless to make up for ferdinand's lack of physicality against stronger forwards
i expected evra to spark the attack down our left flank like neville does down the right, i was very wrong

fowler scored the first goal in five games that liverpool went on to win. a couple of game winners too. he gets my vote.
Has to be D'Alessandro, he’s been a revaluation this season, one of the key contributors to Pompey’s remarkable come-back.
This is not some useless scum bashing, but Vidic...seriously? What exactly has he done to justify best mid-season signing?.
By the same token, how can anyone possibly even begin to justify Agger’s and Komkamp’s inclusion in this list? They might have had a good time playing for the reserves I suppose, but they’ve done next to nothing in the first team.

You're absolutely right. However, I'm not the one who made the thread. And if you check my posts in this thread, you'll find no indication that I was advocating their inclusion in the poll, nor that was I promoting their (lack of) achievements:) Jlimty also mentions the duo's lack of playing time in his post and hence that their inclusion is illogical. I was simply responding to those who unequivocally stated that Vidic was deserving of best mid-season signing. Nevertheless, a valid point.

Well I didn’t mean to target you in that response, I was just astonished that the thread starter even thought about including them in this pole, and then justify it was weakly as he did. As for Vidic, there’s been times when he’s done something brilliant, then followed it up by trying to assault the forward in front of him. I’m sure he’ll be better when he has more experience under his belt; he has the ability and the body to do it. He just needs to learn you can’t just jump into someone and rip their shirt off like he could’ve done else where.

The big signings by the big clubs were included in the poll. It has nothing to do with performance. How could performance be judged? When the poll was created season had not ended. Evra has also been crap. You have the choice to vote for the player who you think has done the best. If not you have the option to choose "Other" and mention the name. Is it very difficult to comprehend??? Kromkamp and Agger have both represented their nations in International matches, Vidic was the most expensive summer signing, Evra also came with a big reputation. Hence all were included. If they do not fulfill their promise or do not get the opportunity to do so, does not justify their exclusion. They all made headlines while joining and now you get the chance to pick who has been a success, not to sit back and do a post match analysis as to whether or not they should be included in the poll. If Kromkamp had scored the winning goal in the FA Cup final, he might have got a lot of votes, so could Agger. How can you predict that before the games are played and exclude them for the poll? They had quite a few games to show their skills after the poll was created.

where the hell is Ashton?!?! This poll is flawed.
where the hell is Ashton?!?! This poll is flawed.
Indeed, I’d suggest he was a better signing than half of the people on this list.
