According to the Spanish press Mauricio Pellegrino is likely to retire and join Rafa Benitez as his assistant. Paco Herrera is set to return to Spain and Pellegrino is understood to have been offered the job by Rafa.

According to Liverpool Echo he has rejected the offer.

Gary Mac has also been linked but he is not likely to make a move.

gary mac would be best for the job,and i think he'd jump at the chance to go back to anfield

Right you are, but unfortunately he has ruled himself out because his wife passed away from cancer recently and he has two young children to look after. It would be very disconcerting for them to be uprooted from their home to make another fresh start. Here's the link to the story:
