Despite faultering in the run in to the title,Bayern Munich clinched the Bundesliga today.A 1-1 draw at Kaiserslautern was enough as Hamburg lost heavily at Hertha Berlin.
Damn annoying as every time Bayern slipped up,HSV didn't take advantage.I seem to remember the same thing happening a few seasons ago with Werder/Bayern and Leverkusen/Bayern.
Was really hoping Hamburg could have caught the Bavarians this season.:(
yes, it would have been nice to see somebody but Bayern win again, the decline of the Bundesliga... the league is turning into a joke...

It looks sad, but Bremen, Hamburg and Gelsenkirchen became stronger so i see a chance that itll be more exciting in the future.
Unfortunately Munich keeps up their politic to weakening the oponents by getting their most importent players, its van Buyten from HiV this year. Maybe even Lincoln from G`kirchen or Borowski from Bremen.

lincoln might come, borowski isnt and van buyten's price is too high. i think people put too much into bayern poaching Bundesliga talent than what it really is...

Well thats not really fair to say. There were tons of close calls this year with Hamburg and Bremen on their tale pretty much all year long. Hamburg even beat Bayern both times this year so it's their own fault they didn't win the championship.
Schalke could have very easily been in the UEFA cup final and Bremen should have knocked out Juventus in the Champions League so it's not like the other german teams just disappear quietly. They are quite strong and competative.

Yes I would have to agree. This was Hamburgs fault that they did not win the table this year. They took both fixtures against Bayern. They just did not do as well the rest of the season as Bayern did. Bayern were a little more consistant in their performances this season but I think that next season this will be different. Next year Hamburg, Bremen, and Schalke will all be competeing for the title with Bayern. Next season should be a very exciting one with many upsets and big wins. Cant wait till next year. As for the UEFA Cup and Champions League, Bremen should have definately beaten Juventus. A single slip up caused this not to happen. As for Schalke I really think they had a good shot at winning the UEFA Cup. They just fell a little short. So next year look for German Football to start making bigger influences in European Football.

Warning - Biased Werder fan::::
If Werder can keep up their strong attack, and strengthen their defense juuuust a bit.
And Hamburg maintain their german efficiency and improve on consistency
and Schalke start playing worth the money int he club
Bayern wont win it next season.

Actually, I think next year will be one of the most competitve the Bundesliga has seen in a long time.
And THAT is the reason why the league is turning into a joke.
Not just that Bayern have won 7 of the last 10 championships, but that they poach other players who are still under contract (isn't this called "tapping up" in the UK?). Therefore they steal the best players IN THE BUNDESLIGA, but still do not have enough financial capabilities to be a buyer on the open market, the last big player they got from OUTSIDE the Bundesliga was Makaay.
So all the best players in the BL are at Bayern.

that isnt necessarily true. here is a look at our transfers the past couple of seasons.
Bayern Munich preseason transfers:
Ismael from THIRD PLACE Bremen
Karimi from Al Ahli Dubai
Lahm from Stuttgart (return from loan)
Bayern Munich midseason transfers:
Julio dos Santos from Cerro Pertano (Paraguay)
Within the last year, Bayern HAVE taken ONE player from their nearest rivals but we gave up frings. Meanwhile, Schalke took Kuranyi from Stuttgart and Ernst from Werder...and nobody cared. Yet, if Bayern would have done the same, everybody would have freaked out.
2004: we brought in Frings, Hashemian, and Lucio.
Hashemian came from FIFTH PLACE Bochum
Frings came from SIXTH PLACE BVB
Lucio came from THIRD PLACE Bayer 04.
2003: Makaay (from SPAIN), Demichelis (from ARGENTINA), Rau (from EIGHTH placed Wolfsburg)
2002: Ballack, Ze Roberto from SECOND PLACE Bayer 04.
your all just bitter fans that cant come to terms with your teams in ability to knock bayern out of first. hamburg came close this year but couldnt pull it together...

No mate, im not bitter plus ive seen enough victories of my team over Bayern not to be jealous at all.
They always bought the best players from their opponents and they will keep on doing that. Its not a crime and its not forbidden to do. They have the money and the name.
Its professional football... its simple as that, but you dont expect any love from the fans of other clubs ?
If you would expand your little list with more years and a position history of the clubs, the bayern-politic would shine through even clearer :p (you could add coaches as well).
Meanwhile, Schalke took Kuranyi from Stuttgart and Ernst from Werder...and nobody cared
Huii youre wrong about this, add Rost and Ailton to this and you know why the Werderaner call Scheisse06 "our little agency in G`kirchen" ;-)
I'm not not bitter about my teams peformance here at all, they're lucky to not be relegated given the average age is under 25 of the team & this has NOTHING to do with BVB.
I'm talking about how Bayern's policy of poaching the best players from the Bundesliga is ruining the league. Their lack of success in general in the CL is going to do nothing for the UEFA coefficient & it's only a matter of time before we lose the third CL spot & it's only two like Scotland.
Also, notice I said the last BIG player was Makaay.
Those other guys are nobodies.
Ismael from THIRD PLACE Bremen (again- tapping up)
Karimi from Al Ahli Dubai - who? from where?
Lahm from Stuttgart (return from loan) He was returning from a loan.
Bayern Munich midseason transfers:
Julio dos Santos from Cerro Pertano (Paraguay) who? from where?
Also 2004:
Hashemian came from FIFTH PLACE Bochum
Frings came from SIXTH PLACE BVB -don't even get me started on this asshole he demanded to be sold for two reasons: 1) the incompetent Sammer (who protected him) was fired, 2) he desperately wanted to win a championship so went to Bayern.
Lucio came from THIRD PLACE Bayer 04.- the best centre back in the league at the time
Who cares what place their team was on, you can have outstanding players on crappy teams.
When was the last time a big big name player was on the market & ended up at Bayern instead of in the EPL or Spain?
Makaay.
The argument is rubbish. Every team buys players, thus weakening other teams. It's moronic to point it out only in the case of Bayern, it's how the bloody market works. I'm by no means a Bayern supporter, on the contrary, but I think it's ridicolous how fans from teams who have only 2-3 players from their academy in their whole squad accuse Bayern of buying the whole talent from other teams. Spot the irony... ;)
Bayern were poor this season, way below their standards, yet they managed to win the title comfortably, despite Hamburg playing one of their best seasons in the last 2 decades. Now that tells you everything about the Bundesliga.
I don't know whether it's boring or not, matter of taste, there are no subjective measuring methods for entertainment. But one thing is for sure, if you take a look on the UEFA ranking which includes all results from all European competitions over the last 5 years you'll see that the Bundesliga is in decline in terms of competitiveness.
Edit: Now I see someone posted in between :) It's not a reply to the post above or to any other post, rather a general statement.

i will be the first to tell you that we didnt deserve to win the bundesliga this year. we played solid in the first half of the season but slowly started to decline. that week we lost in the CL to milan and then to hamburg, i thought we were done. hamburg slipped up and we kinda stayed course and managed to hold on.

ismael tapping up?----explain...
you'll hear of karimi and dos santos next year for sure. karimi was injured most of the second half of teh season and dos santos is 18 or 19. he played his first game yesterday against bvb.
I'm not sure of this whole tapping up thing, you should be aware that it's allowed to talk with players whose contract is running out in the summer from 1st January on.
And what's it called when they have a few years left on their contracts?
Like Podolski right now.
Bayern have been talking to him already & have admitted that, but he has at least 1 year left if not more.

i thought he has one year left. hes handed a transfer request and we're talking to their board about a fee. i dont think we've talked to him but we've made it known he is a target for us. whether that constitutes as tapping up...

oh shit, umm yea im a bit off today w/numbers and such...
I didn't follow the Podolski case really closely, but putting aside the fact that most hardcore fans I know don't want him :p, it appears that first of all he started the whole thing by saying that he would like to join Bayern, then they responded that he's their target. Currently they're talking about a deal with his club. I don't really consider that as tapping up.
Maybe we're getting out definitions crossed.
Ashley Cole was punished by the English FA for having contract negotiations with Chelsea while still under contract with Arsenal. I believe Chelsea were punished too.
Podolski still has at least 1 year left on his TWO WAY contract (meaning it's still valid in the 2nd division) but has been openly discussing a move with Bayern. AFAIK Koln have not yet been involved in these talks.
Maybe this is not illegal in the Bundesliga???
I'm not being a smartass, I'm just asking.

The DFB and FA have different terms.
You can consider Podolski already as a player of munich,
its just a question of 10 or 14 mio. €.
Cologne manager Meier and Hoeness had their latest meeting yesterday.
yes, I know this case is slightly different as his transfer fee NEXT summer is only 1 million Euros which is why they are desperate to sell him this summer.

From what I've heard, things could work out thusly.
Hannover will part with Mertesacker for around 2m euro if Werder throw in Fahrenhorst, another CB into the deal.
2 months ago, that was absurd, because it doesnt make sense to gain a CB and Lose one if youre trying to strengthen your defense.
But now, Valdez the striker seems bound for Dortmund, and its possible that Metzelder could come to Bremen along with some cash for the Paraguayan forward.
That way, Bremen lose a CB, gain two, and get a bit of money to go with it. :)

The reason for just 1 yellow card in 30 to 32 matches is an excellent positional play. Next to that i think he won the most duels of all defenders in the league.
The boy is 22 and plays like a veteran.
German media reports Bayern have agreed terms with Daniel van Buyten. It's just a matter of the fee now, Bayern are offering 7 m €, Hamburg wants twice as much.

I hope Hamburg dont sell van buyten. Would be a shame after the season they just had. He is a quality back. Would like to see him back in HSV's squad for next year unless they can come up with some amazing signing with the money they get for him. I like the idea of not letting van buyten go for less than 14. Hamburg knows Bayern have lots of money to spend so why not try to dip into that cash reserve a little.
Just saw on sky sports that Barbarez just moved to Leverkusen. He is going there on a 2 year contract. Skysports (http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=388039&CPID=22&clid=164&lid=9&title=Barbarez+makes+Bayer+switch)
