This is question for people who support barcelona or interest in La liga... and hence in this section. So here goes :

Do you really want to see Henry playing for Barca ?

EDIT : My answer is yes... but i don't see him doing it after that press conference yesterday as he wasn't really giving a diplomatic answer and kind of burned his bridges but you'll never know. And even if he joins, he's never going to get the same status he gets with Arsenal...that's for sure.

its hard to say whether he played better not being captain than being captain. hes had a great season, but dont forget its only his first as captain.. so he might slip into the supporting role quite easily.

its strange, i can almost think of the same number of reasons why he should stay at arsenal as for moving to barca. i really have no idea what hes going to do and would care not to speculate. after his comments, i dont think they mean much.. he was pissed and disappointed... he didnt mean to trash eto'o or ronnie since he is friends with them both. it was a bit troubling (for arsenal fans) to see him quarrelling with wenger so openly (and during the match!), that could prove to be hurtful to his chances at arsenal. but they could also be chalked up to his 'heat of the moment nature'... he always has a sour puss on his face during matches, even when he scores and they win.

so i dont know whats going to happen, im just going to sit and wait. we'll be a better side with him (+ some headaches as far as selection goes).. but next year we are going to be brilliant either way. with the same squad returning most likely (who wants to leave the european champions??) and messi in his 2nd full year, it could be another year of domination domestically (i wont say europe, because you need some luck to win in europe).

You can see the majority of EPL's followers voting for 'not sure' ;) as the EPL will lose a great deal of skill with his going:p

It can be the beginning of the END. Eto'o will not be happy if he got benched. On the other side if Eto'o can behave himself. Barca can be more powerfull then ever. Altough they need to strength up their defense.

unsure
being able to watch him play with 'dinho, eto'o, messi, deco, xavi, iniesta and co. would be priceless
barça have an interchangeable squad as it is but you gotta think it'd be more of a galactico/milan/chelsea move to have two such huge talents riding the bench for long stretches of time

barca already has a lot of star attacking players. They need defensive players than offensive ones like Henry.

I agree. Like Chelsea they are getting so damn greedy because of their succes. I think it's disgusting how Barca, CheŁ$i and Real act when there are attractive players on the market. Barca already have the players to keep going but they want more. It's sad to see that somebody wants to have all the big names in one bloody club.

HAHA wtf are you talking about man... sure maybe we used to be like that for a spell.. when we splurged on ridiculous contracts for overmars and kluivert. but those days are gone. ronaldinho rightly is paid a huge salary, but we also have many home grown players in our lineup. can you say the same for arsenal? NEG!

also trying to put barca in with chelsea and real madrid in the transfer market is a bit ridiculous. mainly because we are hugely in debt still and havent really dropped serious cash on anyone besides ronaldinho and eto'o.. and even their signings werent as glamorous or near the sagas that any signing at madrid or chelsea might be.

another point is that no one in barca has confirmed that we are actually going to buy the player. its all speculation, and if you believe the media then you are one naive person. yet another is that we really didnt buy anyone new at all after we won la liga last year. we got van bommel on a free and messi came up from barca b to scorch the footballing world. those were our 2 main additions, with other players (6 of them) coming back from an injury plagued season. so i think we've earned the right to sign another player if we want.. logically we should probably look for defensive cover first and offense quite a bit later.

i smell sour grapes from arsenal fans... and them shitting their pants that henry STILL hasnt renegotiated his contract. whos to blame? the team that hasnt even officially approached or confirmed this alleged transfer.. or the CAPTAIN of your side who has been stringing you lot around for the better part of a year?

He's going to Barca anyway in my opinion, so there isn't much point in the discussion. It is up to Barca how they use him but hope Maxi is released.

I guess we can close this thread now.

Good luck to Arsenal fans... and you need him more than us and he's very much part of your team. Congrats.

i dont think theres enough touches of the ball to go around if Henry comes to Barca. I think hes an incredible player, but RMA is the perfect example of to many superstars, and not enough ball touches. If a star doesnt have the ball enough each game, or has to sit often, then he looses his confidence and has a bad year. Messi, eto'o, ronnie, and then maxi on the bench, with guile as well on the bench i think is perfect. Henry makes to many chefs in the kitchen.

What a great player though!

honestly, it probably would have hurt the team more than it would have helped. there is such great unity with the barca squad and messi is just too amazing to hold back. eto'o is a warrior and i feel like he truly feels loved at barca, so there is no way he could possibly be set aside for another striker. then theres ronnie, he is peerless so its impossible to sit him. so where would that have left henry? taking up a midfield spot? what about iniesta? his star is rising incredibly fast. now people all around the world know his name, as one of the super subs to come on in the CL final and change the game. xavi... he IS barca. deco might be expendable in a few years, but he is equally important as anyone in the team right now.

so its really not possible to play with henry without disrupting the best team in the world and their incredibly efficient system of playing. good luck arsenal, im kinda glad he stayed there... it woulda been plain wrong for him to leave his supporters and his captaincy. after vieira left, im not sure if arsenal would have survived next season without titi.
