So what do you think was the La Liga best XI of the season.
Mine:
------------------------Casillas------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------
----------------R.Marquez------Puyol------------------
--Daniel Alves--------------------------------M.Pernia--
----------------Edmilson---Marcos Senna---------------
-------------------------------------------------------
---------Riquelme-------------------Ronaldinho---------
-------------------------------------------------------
----------------David Villa---Samuel Eto'o--------------
5 Barcelona players, but they are after all, the best team in Europe.
BTW, I chose two defensive midfielders because in this formation I'm using 4 attacking players but you could easily replace Edmilson or Marcos Senna with a player like Deco for example.

it seems a crying shame to have messi not included.. i want him in there but, it would be difficult to remove any of those players. if it had to be someone.. i'd take out riquelme, because we know messi can operate in the middle very very well, also the right and probably do well from an attacking midfield position. actually senna could be taken out, but messi would have to play more advanced so im not sure whether riquelme would work that deep? i dunno...

I don't know BL. Nobody would doubt that he is one of the best players in the league, but in something like best XI you have to take into consideration what the player did throughout the season and I think Messi was injured for quite a while and before that wasn't starting every single game so that hurts him.
And you could move Senna, but that squad would be unrealistic to play with. The formation would basically be a 4-1-1-4:
------------------------Casillas------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------
----------------R.Marquez------Puyol------------------
--Daniel Alves--------------------------------M.Pernia--
------------------------Edmilson-----------------------
-------------------------------------------------------
------------------------Riquelme-----------------------
----Messi----------------------------------Ronaldinho--
----------------David Villa---Samuel Eto'o--------------
LOL..If only football was played with 4-1-1-4 tactics.:D

hahhaha a bit biased going for ronaldo? more like a bit biased going for ramos, cicinho and baptista. cicinho only played in the 2nd half of the season and sometimes didnt even start. baptista played well for the last few weeks of the season, and ramos is crapppp! how many red cards and horrible tackles and goals have gone in as a result of him? bleh, i just dont like ramos at all, i think hes overhyped and really not a good player. too hot headed too. but this is all hypothetical...

Sorry, no way baptista, cicinho deserve that. Ramos ... ... ... maybe? Ronaldo, definitely not.
As to the question about Messi Barcalove - i'll have to disagree with ya. I love the kid - *a lot*. He has shades of greatness that harken to legends. He issed the last 1/3 of the season too. I would probably have to go with De La Pena over riquelme. I think he was/is totally underrated, and has spectacular vision. Riquelme had a so-so season from what i saw of him at villareal.
I also question edmilson. I wonder if there might be another more versatile player for a defensive midfielder. I also liked cani this year...but i'm not sure you can exchange cani for edmilson.

I believe the selection should be about the players who had an oustanding last season not about players that few years ago had good seasons, or about players that some believe theya re going to be good in the future.
So said, theres is no player from Real Madrid except Casillias that deserve a place in Liga's Best XI. Proposing players like Baptista, Ramos or Ronaldo is unrealistic. I love Messi but I don't thing this year he got a place in the Best IX. Also I don't like Puyol to much, but Barca defense was very solid this season. Regarding these my choice is:
------------------------Casillas------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------
----------------R.Marquez-----------Pujol-------------
--Daniel Alves--------------------------------M.Pernia--
----------------Deco---Marcos Senna---------------

Cicinho-------Albiol---------Puyol-----------Pernía
-------------------------------------------------
--Jesús Navas--------Martí--------Riquelme-------
-------------------------------------------------
-----Villa------------------------------Ronaldinho
---------------------Eto'o-----------------------
I want to put any player of Osasuna, but i think they have reached the 4th place because they have a great team, but no one is a star (maybe Milosevic, but Ronaldinho, Eto'o and Villa are better than him)

See, Ayala was injured for a few months, so that's why I had Albiol ahead of him, since that boy has been playing so consistently throughout the season. He was Valencia's best central defender for the 05/06 season, in my opinion.

LOL. No, not at all. I laughed out loud because you left out Puyol (widely considered one of the 3 best defenders in the world, nevermind La Liga), you left out Eto'o (widely considered one of the top 3-5 forwards in the world), you chose Cicinho over Daniel Alves even though Cicinho only played just over half a season while Alves played all of it at a world class level and was a big part of Sevilla's UEFA Cup win and finally you picked Zidane who clearly was not one of the better players this year. Tellingly, you left out Barcelona players that clearly deserved to be there and included Madrid players that did not. I guess since you are a RM fan, it's understandable, but I must LOL at the selection.

Rafael Marquez is also considered one of the best defenders in the world maybe even better than Puyol, I left out Eto'o because David Villa was amazing this season scoring awsome goals creating somthing out of nothing he didnt have Ronaldinho putting in the pass for him and yet still managed to score, I chose Torres big he has been the best CLUTCH foward he stepped up to big games like against Barcelona, Cincinho played half of the season and yet scored 2 GREAT goals in half of the season that says alot more than Alves 2 goals for the whole season. The Zidane factor was because he has pulled out some pretty amazing goals this season INCLUDING his hat trick vs Sevilla  and thats why I chose them.
ps: I didnt see Alves in the WC squad this summer but I sure as hell saw Cicinho.

Well, like I said, you are a Madrid fan so your selections and non selections are understandable. The best XI of the year is usually a place for the best player in their respective positions throughout the whole season, not just in the clutch, or in a few specific games...that is why I LOL'd. Zidane definitely does not deserve to be on the team (even less as a CMF/DMF) because despite his occasional moments of brilliance, he was not one of the best througout the whole season.
Villa clearly deserves it, after all he led La Liga in scoring but selecting F.Torres over Samuel Eto'o (who is tied in 1st place with Villa in scoring) for the best XI of this season is absurd.
As for Marquez, I never suggested taking him out. If you see my first post when I opened the thread, he is on my best XI team. However, there is no justification for leaving Puyol out (other than you are a Madrid fan and refuse to pick a Barca player).
PS..La Liga best XI of 2005/2006 means who are the best players in La Liga of 2005/2006 season. Cicinho had his place on the seleção squad won from his days with São Paulo. In La Liga this season, Alves clearly had the better year and to suggest Cicinho did better despite the fact that he played half the season is ridicolous. But again, since you are Madrid fan I understand that you want to get as many RM players on the best XI squad as possible.

Just because I am a Madrid fan does not mean Im being biased Cicinho is on a completely different level than Alves. I chose 1 more Madrid player over Barca's 2 Iker I do believe was WAAAAAAAAAAAY better than Victor Valdes so if you think Im being biased Im not. Im not going to put the entire Barca squad though either now that would be biased.

If you say you're not biased I guess I just have to take your word for it. But leaving out Puyol-Eto'o and including Zidane and Cicinho despite the fact that one (Zidane) had a normal season and the other (Cicinho) played half a season is just odd. Forget about including Zidane and Cicinho how is it justifiable to leave out Puyol for Ayala and Eto'o out for El Niño? One is regarded as the best defender in La Liga and the other was tied for the league lead in scoring and both were on the best team in the league.
Thats why at least it looks like you're clearly being biased. I mean the only Barca player you selected (and he did deserve it) besides the obvious choice of Ronaldinho is a player who plays for your favorite national team (R.Marquez).

deviant mexa - I'm going to jump in on r9magia's defense. First off brazil is my most hated national team in the history of the universe ... after germany ;).
R9magia made excellent points as to what is wrong with your lineup. The main points are Cicinho, ayala, zidane in my eyes. Cicinho hasn't proven he deserves to be in this team yet, same with messi i think (they both need more time to be included).
Nobody and i mean NOBODY is saying marquez shouldn't be there. The man is a bastion of truth and justice ... or i mean defending. HOWEVER, Puyol must be included in the best 11. No doubt about it. The most hardy RM fan would include him.
Zidane had another lack luster year - no real consistency. In fact there was no real consistency in Madrid this year except perhaps casillas (brilliant) and guti (absolutely atrocious ;)).
That said i've agreed with you on multiple times - and I think you are trying to be unbiased in the team - but those few points are quite glaring mistakes.
EDIT - Also lacking eto'o is understandable. He had a bad final 1/3rd of the season. But he also had a magnificent CL and magnificent first 2/3rds. F. Torres I don't think performed as well overall, but that's more debatable than say Ayala vs. Puyol :P

Heh, I'll cut saurabh some slack on this one since this has been -- in my opinion -- one of the best seasons -- if not THE best -- Pablito has had since moving to Spain. He's played the most minutes out of the season, and he's been the most consistent re: injuries (although at the end there he was getting shaky). He also won this year's EFE award, or whatever it's called, for best Latino American player in La Liga. That being said, I still think Riquelme has played at a better level of competition, given Villarreal's run in the CL. (But I do have Aimar on my bench. ;))
Although, the rest of saurabh's list I can't defend. Aurelio at left back? Riquelme in a DEFENSIVE position? COLOCCINI??!! Just ... no words.

Aw poor guy :) You can have him in there!
the point though was to pick this year's best XI and there is certainly doubt as to why he would be in there from THIS year's performance on the pitch. IMO (and apparently that of many) there were players who did better this season.

And the point was that it wasn't all about Zidane. It was also about Ayala over Puyol, Cicinho (who played half a season) over Daniel Alves or even Miguel and Torres over Eto'o. But again, it's his team so he can do what he wants. But when you pick a team like that you should expect to be questioned.
