For ages, most of the foreign players that have been enjoying the spotlight have mostly come from the South American countries. This is quite understandable because that region of the world has produced some really awesome world-class talents. There are also a number of European players that have been gaining a lot of attention from the media, sports scribes and fans. They possess such an insane amount of talent that watching them is just pure bliss.
Recently though, some of the clubs are starting to look to the east in discovering new resources for football talents that can be brought back to the league. Some of the clubs have already signed their Asian players with one of them being Manchester United itself (The top team in the world, in my opinion). Sir Alex Ferguson signed Ji-Sung Park to one of the most high-profile, if not the most high-profile, football teams in the world! Fortunately, Park has proven time and again that he was a good decision for the team and has been quite a consistent presence and have contributed much to the team in terms of making it more well-rounded.
I think Park has been a great addition to ManUtd. Do you guys think the same way?

Yeap...in my opinion he had a really good first season, settling into the ManUnited system well. His tireless running and determination when chasing a ball makes me glad he's a United player.

I don't really see the big impact he has on games. He's a better player than Darren Fletcher, but his impact on the game isn't that much more significant. I watched a lot of united this season and that's just my opinion of what I saw.
I think he'll really establish himself next season.

My wife's dad is a hardcore Korean and he goes crazy everytime Man Utd come on because of that lad. I, however, am a cynical Liverpool supporter...but I STILL think that Ji Sung Park was a very good signing for Man Utd. I think he needs to be encouraged to be a little more aggressive, other than that, he has a lot of skill and the work rate of Momo Sissoko. He's a great player in the making.

the kid is a workhorse, sooo full of energy, which is wonderful to see. I've never seen him dive or cheat, and that's always good. the only thing is he has to work on his shooting and final passes, I think that's the weakest part of his game. it's not that its terrible, but it could definately do with an improvement. I'm a big fan of Park though, and I think he's a great add to the United squad.

When PSV nearly beat AC Milan in last year's CL, I was blown away by Park. I've never seen anyone work so hard. Great player. Hopefully he enjoys many years at Manchester.

I think they don't play him enough, but I also think that about Richardson and a few of their other players.

He is one of the hardest workers in the game and as stated before i think he will really shine next year... this year he acclamated rather fast so it cn only get better.... now lets sell fletch and get a new defender for Mikial.

I think only blind person would say that Park hasn't been a great addition to the team. He works really hard and he's got amazing skill. As bricktop said his final passes are sometimes rather weak or off, but I think his shooting is fairly good. Good investment and he sells t-shirts. :p

Wow, interesting to see what you people think about him. Yeah, my observation is the same, he is a geniunely hard-worker, as PSV fans called him "oxygen tank", "motor", etc. From his high school days, his hard work led him to opportunities (university, Korean Olympic team, Kyoto Purple Sanga, WC2002, so on...) ultimately to Manchester United. Although he had his bad days, I thought he did pretty well for the first season, with 6 assists (just an useless fact, United won all the games in which he had an assist :D ) and a goal (w/ the goal against Fulham taken away to Bocanegra). Like people already said, I also believe he'll fit well next season, although it looks like Sir Alex Ferguson will make midfield signings over the summer and that might limit his playing time.
Just an article...
Fergie backing for Park
Sir Alex Ferguson says summer signing Park Ji-Sung has been a great addition to the Manchester United squad.
The midfielder moved to Old Trafford for £4 million on a four-year deal but although making 38 appearances for The Red Devils this season, the majority have been from the substitute's bench.
Park has failed to hold down a first-team place in United's side and was only selected on the bench for Sunday's game against Birmingham City with Kieran Richardson taking up the left-wing position.
"Park Ji-Sung has been fantastic for us, he has been terrific," insisted Ferguson.
"He adds something different to the way we play with his movement and desire to find space.
"He just needs to score a couple of goals in a row to get him going.
"He gets into good positions and is a good finisher and a couple of goals would do his confidence good.
"I don't know if it's affecting him because he is a quiet lad, you can't ask him about it either because if you do, it might make him start thinking about it more."

That's the same thing I say. Since he is not a consistent starter it seems that he tries to please everyone too much and play too unselfishly. He has the skill and speed to take on a player now and then and show some flair. He showed glimmers of it every now and then last season but he doesn't often enough. Once that happens we will see more numerous and better shots and final passes from him. Looking forward to seeing him show his true talent next season.
On a side not...PanMan...does your name have anything to do with steelpan?

WOW...I'm so excited to see so many people make positive observations on Park.
He's absolutely one of my favorite players. Why? I LOVE his workrate, and it helps that he's Korean :) (like me).
I was mesmerized by his play in the WC2002, especially that goal where he tracks the ball down with his foot, pops it up to his chest, and drills it in the goal. That moment, I was going crazy!! hahaha, I was like, WHO THE HELL IS THIS GUY?! He's AMAZING!
Then I watched him follow Hiddink to PSV and followed him at PSV.
At PSV his initial seasons were very poor, because both him and Lee Yong Pyo (compatriot and fellow Premiership player - Tottenham Hotspurs) couldn't acclimate to the Dutch culture. However, I believe Hiddink and the players (Park and Lee) decided that they needed to dispose of their interpreter from being around 24/7 and finally forced themselves to just try and fit in. From there, those two players stock at PSV Eindhoven went sky high. Both Park and Lee were instrumental in helping PSV run to the CL quarterfinals. Lee's crosses from the left were just magistic (even in the CL quarterfinal match against AC Milan...the COCU shot was a cross from Lee).
If Park had Lee's crossing, he would be that much more dangerous.
With regards to Park's on again off again glimmers at Man United, someone mentioned it earlier. He is tentative because he is trying to play nice. He's trying to be as facilitating as possible. I believe with a couple of more seasons on the team and some more regular starts, he'll grow into a more aggressive role, as he became at PSV. His strikes at PSV were wonderful to watch. He had some great shots with both his left and right feet.
Ok, I'll stop raving :p I'm just happy to see people regarding him with some positive remarks. For me, it's a no-brainer. I'm a fan, but to see you all speak positively of him, just makes me so happy! :)
I hope he shines in the coming seasons. His passing will become better as he gets used to the pace (which he has already shown he can adjust) and as he gets used to his teammates. The midfield kept changing on him all season, so I'm sure that didn't help with his synchronization with the guys.
Hooray for Park!! :)

One of the great moments of the last season was Park's run down the right and two people tried to get his legs but the lad didnt give up and didnt go down, stretched and passed for ruud to score. I cant remember exactly against who.

You cant say that about momo sissoko *HINT HINT*

I'm South Korean. So I watched many Man Utd games,of course.
Frankly, I could not see the Park Ji-Sung objectively.
In general, many people said Ji's first season is not so bad.
This fact makes me to expect the Ji's next season.
Thank you, Guys. Because yours acknowledge the Ji's ability.

I think that that season wasn't the best for Park but I hope that soon he will show us what the name Park Ji Sung mean!

as someone else mentioned on here...I don't see an impact he has on a game but he does work hard. He reminds me slightly of Hleb at Arsenal, who when they signed they expected great things from; only recently in my opinion has Hleb started showing what he's really made for; hopefully Park will come into his own next season. He definitly had game changing talent as we saw at PSV; which is the same as Hleb at Stuggart. Its just a matter of time before he shows this!

Park is a good player for man city.
He is not the type offf player I see starting for manU too normal in comparision to other top clubs.
I didnt want him then and want to sell him now.

oh fuck off! Park has been excellent for us! Sure he hasn't scored that many, and hasn't been a regular starter, but he's got such a motor in him and is a constant threat, always pushing on and on. I wish he could give off some of his energy to other players in the team. Maybe we wouldn't do so fecking shite against the lesser opponents liek Sunderland

get rid of scholes adn put park as a starter, you don't have any better midfield players at the moment than him. All the other midfielders stink, and scholes is past his sell by date and is rotting.

STFU....
STFU....
It's not like he is lying.
Giggs just isn't a central midfielder, Fletcher and O'Shea are utility men at best and Scholes has been out of it for the past 2 seasons and u cannot deny that Scholes hasn't been sucking for the past 2 seasons.

The problem with Park is that he is too unselfish at the moment and that is surely because he just wants to try and please everybody. He is very capable of doing the Fulham run alot more often (in the first part of the season, the Fulham away game where he had 3 assists and jinxed past 3 or 4 players before beeing brought down).
And if you would look for the statistics you will find out that Park has had as many assists and created as many openings for the teammates as Ronaldo did in HALF the minutes he played.
Not saying he is better than Ronaldo, i am just saying that Park has been alot more useful than Ronaldo yet he doesn't get the same applauses.

Scholes was "sucking" the past two seasons for two reasons.
1. the formation we played while Keane was still here. Scholes was forced to play deeper than usual in the midfield to assist Keane and couldn't get as forward as he would have liked. Once Keane left and Scholes COULD be the player he used to be, he was superb.
2. He was out with the eye trouble for the whole second half of this season. It's hard to be world class and set the world alight when you're sitting in the stands because you can't play..

He was bad for most of the starting season too. Actually he only started playing good right before the injury :/

I direct you to point #1.
At the start of the season, Roy Keane was still in the side, and was until the end of September. Scholes had about three months where he played before he got injured, and believe it or not, it takes some time to get used to a formation change..
