Who do you think is the ideal striker to accompany Owen for the first round matches if (and when) Ronney cant play?

most probably crouch, complete contrast in players (owen and crouch) but imo hes good. most probable answer is that he will either do as said, 4-4-2, or play owen upfront, alone, with a holding midfielder, and or even gerrard behind owen.

but i would prefer owen and crouch upfront actually.

I think Crouch is the answer in a 4-4-2. He is a serious asset even if it doesn't look elegant. What are the real attacking options? Walcott is at most surprise off the bench. Gerrard is on song, but it wasn't an obvious parnership with Owen against Hungary.

Owen as the lone attacker is not ideal, its not his game and England do not get the best out of him.

agreed, owen and crouch is our only possibility with a 4-4-2 atm

with gerrard behind, doesnt play right, and owen lone as you stated just doesnt perform, although it was his first game out.

Crouch-Owen duo starting to a really good partnership.... 6-0 against Jamaica

3 goals by Crouch and 1 by Owen and one set up by Owen for Crouch...Crouch even missed a penalty(honestly really badly taken)... we need a trusted penalty taker... (Beckham missed some,Lampard just missed against Hungary and then Crouch (not good for the moral).)...Gerrard started to take penalty for Liverpool again..but he also missed some for Liverpool in the past.... lol maybe Owen?
