who do you think will do best for england as RB, if lets say, carrick is DMC instead of caragher?
i personally feel caragher is a quality RB (so is nevvile) but eventhough nevilled has the experience and all that comes with it, i cant help but feel that jamie carragher could do better for england. i know i'l get slated for saying this but there you go.
thread closes 9th june- no particular reason.

Neville, based on experience and understanding with Beckham.

I used to not rate Neville but I think hes one of the most spirited players in England. A big asset for a team aswell as his good relationship with Beckham.
interesting fact about carragher, he has an Everton tattoo on his arm so always wears long sleeved shirts

What are you trying to say? :p I'll have to prove you wrong there mate, and vote for Neville. Can't stand the man, but he's a damn good-right back. Better than Carra, but then I reckon Carra should be in CD instead of Ferdinand.

Exactly what I was going to say. He may come across as a cock, but he's the best for England in that position.

I hate his 15-year old moustache,i don't rate him a lot as a player but i think he's more suitable in the RB position than Carra.Jamie should play as centre-back alongside Terry. He's definetely had a better season than Ferdinand.

Yes, Carragher is a quality CB but I'd rather have Neville in RB. He's got plenty of experience for club and country in that position.

I'd say Neville definately. he's got way more international experience than Carra, and I also just think he is the stronger right back.

In terms of doing a defensive duties, they would probably do a similar job. But in terms of bombing forward, supporting and getting past the winger, putting crosses in, you'd have to say the Neviller is a better choice.

As for the main topic, Neville is a RB and he's damn good at it. He should play there, provided he's fit. Having said that, Carra should play in the middle alongside Terry, instead of Rio.

neville's crossing ability wins it for him.
as far as rio. He's in there because of the better aerial defense, and because of his speed. facing teams like argentina that will matter a lot. carragher had a better season, but it's hard for me to say that rio shouldn't be playing some part. They really should be interchanged depending on the team they face.

leave neville, out with rio - england need a bit of spirit and passion and Carra provides a shite loads of that. In addition had a much better season than Rio freo....:)

i think Neville is more experienced as rb... although Carra is good at this position too used to play rb and then switched to lb and finally to cb...It seems that Carra won't be in starting lineup but he surely must the first-choise sub ahead of Campbell.... Campbell in the friendlies was not very comfortable He is no more like before..he is too slow..

I totally agree with you man.I just want to add that Sven has the bad habit of selecting always the stars even if they are out of form.

Wow it is nice to see so many people here chose Neville for the professional reasons, and not chose Carragher because they don’t like Neville personally, or because they got tired of him being around so much time and so on…
I wish we all had that attitude toward all players
btw - Neville - for all the reasons above.

Gary is better as RB

I don't see the reasoning behind playing a quality centre-back at right back, surely he is competing with Terry, Rio and Campbell for a spot in the side, not Neville and Cole.

What about a new position for Carragher? We can float him around on a hot-air balloon and drop him into areas that are lacking in passion, guile and talent? He can sit on Gary Neville's shoulder and whisper encouragement in his ear? He can fit inside John Terry's pocket and soothingly massage him during our prolonged periods of attack? He can hang from Rio's stringy haircut and scream "wake up you complacent buffoon! you're one of the best defensive talents England have ever had and all you want to do is make defending look like 'Saturday Night Fever'"
Or we can just let him take care of the back four all on his own - whatever happened to cloning? I'd take 4 GM Carras if I could get them.
But seriously. I don't think he'll get picked for the first team unless Neville is still lame or the situation calls for him in the holding position. But just to have someone like Jamie Carragher on the bench is fearsome enough for the opposition. Things look good for us if this is a 'problem'...
