Wow... Last WC those two got in a fistfight during training. After the game against Trinidad & Tobago, Ljungberg aimed some comments at the Swedish defence. Mellberg took this personally and they got in a heated discussion in the dressingroom...

Could ruin their campaign... Come on Freddy and Olaf, find peace and get groovy!

to me it seemed that freddy was just itching to bitch when he was on the field. one of the high points of the match for me was watching ljungberg get owned just about everytime he touched the ball. i wonder what mellberg said to him haha.. freddie probably didnt like it much :o

they should learn from germany.. they (historically) hates eachother but as soon as they get on the pitch they fight with their whole heart together. according to former spurs keeper erik thorstvedt anyway

This is nothing.
Just wait and see how these two hot-tempered guys who both hate to lose will co-operate to crush both Paraguay and England.

It all started when Mellberg came into the dressing room, where Zlatan and Ljungberg were discussing why they didn't score, and he started complaining about the lack of goalscoring creativity up front. Ljungberg then told Mellberg how inefficient his balloon-passes are and told him to let someone else do those long passes because they are not good enough.

The big question is who's the snitch? Who told the papers about that minor argument in the dressing room?
FYI There was no big fight like the last time in 2004.
It was just a heated exchange of words right after the game had ended, nothing more.

actually heated arguments are not really a big deal.. it happens in every team .. and i am sure the next match u will see all of them playing as a unit....

IMO i still think Sweden will win this group, eventhough they didn't hit the target and with the beef in their camp.

Sweden is in shock, after internal details have been revealed.
http://ekstrabladet.dk/sport/landsholdsfodbold/article203738.ece

A source told the Swedish paper Expressen the following:

Mellberg told Ljungberg that there wasn't anything wrong with the system, but only with the lack of creativity upfront. Ljungberg then replied, that he should focus on his own play, stop sending ballonballs up the pitch and try to keep the ball on the flanks.

To stop a fight taking place, Marcus "The worst striker in the world cup" Allbäck got Ljungberg away from Mellberg. It is also mentioned, that Tobias Linderoth was in heated discussions with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The news today is that Henrik Larsson has held a meeting with all the players in the team - and the manager was also there of course.

Basically Henrik Larsson told everyone to shut the f**k up and work for the team. They set up some rules to allow players to let out steam about what's wrong with the play on the pitch after the game - without attacking each other personally.

Mellberg apologized to Ljungberg for having said a couple of personal insults to him.
- "It's nothing to apologize for", Ljungberg replied.

And then they all joined hands and sang the Song of War  preparing for the Paraguay game....

----

My view is that Lagerbäck is on the way out if we don't win on Thursday and with him goes Mellberg, at least as captain of the team. These troubles show a huge crack in the leadership which can't be ignored. The older players took their responsibility to sort it out when the leaders couldn't handle the situation.

Ljungberg is one of the most overrated players ever. I hate that dude. He was shit against Trinidad. How can that moron blame the defense for a 0-0 result?!
Also, Freddy, don't get in a fight with someone who will floor you within 2 seconds. I'd pay to see Mellberg kick his short ass all the way from Berlin to Gothenburg and back. :D

if there is an issue b/w the 2 guys... they better work it out soon cuz it seems to be affecting the game... yesterday's game was pretty intense but sweden didnt score until the last minute (literaly)... that was just sad... i was so pissed... so many opportunities and only 1 goal.. if they lost i would have murdered someone!!!
they really need to work out w/e is causing a rift before the game with england on tues... cuz they r not gonna win if they play like this :(
i mean sweden has such a good team but they gotta work together... ljungberg isnt as bad as he seems... i think he is pretty good... hell i love the guy... but they gotta stop fighting, he cant do it all alone!! he scored like 1 min before the end... it was perfect timing to save sweden!!! he was GREAT!
