Hey everyone,
I was wondering what youth facilities and academies (if any) are like in America and how they compare with Europe. The standard of the MLS doesn't seem to be too awful and I would like to know how the juniors compare. Who has the best youth system/academy and what type of facilities do they have etc.
Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

there are no youth academies in the US except for the US national team.. and there is a academy in florida ....
In US there is a "club level" where kids play throughout all ages from sub 8 to sub 19... There are a few big turnaments for these clubs( dallas Cup, Surf Cup, state cup, regionals) and if you are good enough, through rounds of rigorous qualifictaions you advance to nationals, where four teams in each play each other, one team from each region(East, West, south, and Northish):D .
Here are a list of the few top clubs in the US
Dallas Texans
La Jolla Nomads<------my club, no lie, we are really good:D
Del Mar Surf
Arsenal Fc
list goes on and on..these just come to mind
Then in the off season for club kids play for their highschool(14-18 year olds) but the compettition isnt as good as club.. no big tournaments
then it evolves up to college were kids wil play for there university.. or they can skip that and go abroad, or try to get a contract in the MLS, MISL(indoor), or various semi pro leagues...
Hope this helps, and hope you dont mind all the spelling errors because I am way to lazy from finals....

Thanks a lot for that. I've trained with and played against all the big clubs in england Man Utd., Blackburn, Arsenal etc. (to toot my own horn a bit). I recently went to germany and trained with clubs there and went back through America for a holiday. This time i'll be going back to trial with clubs in germany in september and hopefully going back through America again and thought it might be good to train with some teams but I guess it might not be the best idea. Hopefully I get signed in germany and dont have to go anywhere :D

Dallas Texans has an unbelievable U-19 team. At the recent Dallas Cup which is widely regarded as one of the premier youth tournaments in the world their team won the super group which include Real Madrid, and Man United which had Rossi, Pique and Kieron Campbell on the team.
