no only is the coverage terrible on espn 2, the announcers make stupid comments and now they are making fun of becks and his accent? wtf. who are they. i have never heard of them in my life and my 10 year old cousin is more knowledgable about soccer than them. i am writing them to tell them this is absolutely ridiculous.

i havent heard the ESPN commentary.. but if they really did diss Becks and his wife, they're really dumb to do so... they arent suppossd to comment on the player's private lives.. if victoria wants to spend his money, she has the right to do so.. she married him for God's sake!

I don't consider ESPN announcers to be in any way important. Pity you can't switch them off.
Just wondering something. Were those announcers making fun of Beckhams accent because he is English, or because he sounds a bit odd when he talks?

Yeah I heard it too and thought to myself what a dick. I don't really remember what he said but at the end I think he kinda made fun of the fact that they called their son Brooklyn as well.

Not entirely sure but probably a bit of both I think.
Let's see if they'll have funny things to say on Saturday.

he made fun of becks cuz his voice is high. ya they made fun of brooklyn at the end. those three are idiots. i can not believe they did that. especially since he was voted "t mobile man of the match" or whatever shit that is. fuck it. telemundo is way better even if i dont understand it.
if you heard it you should write to them and give em a piece of your mind! they are supposed to be impartial but obviously they are douchebags

I agree they should not comment negatively about the player's private life but for crying out loud Beckham and his wife have left very little to the imagination.
They are not private people at all and they air their clean and dirty laundry for everyone to see.
I mean his wife posed nude, they dont deserve much respect or privacy in my opinion, other than bekham being one of the best on the English squad, he is not that good compared to players like Rohnaldino or Messi, sorry guys, I can easily name 10 better players better than him just from South America.
When you open yourself to that much exposure you also open the doors for silly people like those comentators to make fun of you.
I think Beckham needs to work on the way he talks, he does sounds terrible when he speaks. I lived in England for 8 years and I know what well spoken english sound like.

a football commentator should talk about football not about somebody's personal life not matter who they are or what they do. its different if they were discussing him on a talk show or whatever, but being a football commentator it's very inappropriate to say such stuff about a player. i dont really like beck either, but he did perform good that game, and nobody no matter who they are, should not be made fun of their accents!

i never said he spoke well, or even that he was intelligent. I didnt even say that his private life should be left private, but when they do that during a sports show about the world cup, it is wrong. i laugh at becks too. i know hes not the best, i can probably name 20 players than him, but the point is, you cant say that kind of crap when your supposed to be presenting on the world cup and the english team.

In Sweden all important WC-games are also broadcasted on the radio where the real professionals work.
So when we get some bad commentators on the TV we turn off the sound and turn on the radio instead.
It's more intense, it's more fun and there are better expert views on the radio.
I would hate to have only ESPN to rely on. I have heard them on various caps...

Has anybody actually got the interview available for upload? After reading the forum re Beckham I like probably so many others thought typical of the Americans. Oh its all a bit of fun I hear you yanks cry but suddenly that sense of humour evaporates the moment someone dares to poke fun at an American sports hero. (OK hero might be a bit strong but remember v Greece at OT a few years back).
Anyway more for fun to see what would happen than anything else I wrote to that pillar of British Journalism The Sun who almost immediately replied asking for a copy of the interview. Obviously no mention of where it came from will be made (unless you want some credit) but it might be a bit of fun to see how you could play a part in stirring up a bit of national pride and (if possible) further lowering the opinion of America abroad.
tossers dont even call it football. remember...great hussle from beckham - head ball. WTF them espn guys suck and i think they should get fined and hopefully beckham finds out about it, it is ok to make fun of beckham and all in comic strips as what is done but there is too many people slagging all the time, even yesterday after the trinidad game on RTE he got abuse saying he is a crap footballer and all he does is hit free kicks and corners, if you watch the match he was involved in nearly every single chance england had, and set up the crucial 1st goal. i think we should all contact espn and get them in trouble cus they suck as it is but now here is an excuse to bring them terrbile commentators down.
p.s. obviously i dont listen to espn all the time but i hear so much complaints and i watched a sheva v ronnie chairty match with their commentary, it was brutal.

Those Commentators from ESPN or any other North American station should not be doing games. Personally I like when they have England commentators even though they seem to be a little bit too much PRO England. I personally watch all my games in Italian, because at least those commentators are knowledgeble in soccer unlike those, and I'm sorry to say this, American commentators.
