Ecuadorian defender Ulises De La Cruz (Aston Villa), has been talking to the press:
The fact, that he is not completely fit, is good for us. Maybe I can kick his foot, to test it, even though I do not want a red card.
I will do my best, to test if he is a 100% or not.
That's not very nice is it? :(

Maybe its just a tactic to scare rooney... but I am sure rooney can handle him...
Its mind games imo... Rooney will come out on top :)

Even if it is mind game – it is cruel and disgusting mind game.
I just hope Rooney won’t be overly motivated (if that is possible with him)

If he injured Rooney, he would be dead within a week..(there are some pretty hardcore Man Utd/England fans out there)..:)

If Rooney plays for Chelsea, De La Cruz would already be dead by now!:D
But seriously, it is nothing but mind games. it could backfire as the officials may keep an eye out for his antics and be extra tough on him. It is common in football for defenders to go in extra hard on attackers early in the game to unsettle them. Sometimes it works for them, sometimes it doesn't.

wait does this guy know that rooney comes from a long line of boxers and he was undeaten as a boxer himself before he became a pro footballer.
but im sure that playing against ecuador, with all respect, isnt too much of a test for rooney but for ecaudor. maybe we should rest him and put walcott and crouch upfront. ;)

Agreed - if this Fukker tries to hurt Rooney, he's going to get booted, especially considering that this tournament has already seen around 10 red cards! This comment will also backfire in the sense that Rooney will probably be even more motivated to make this c*nt look like the fool that he is... and just for that, im betting a few quid on Rooney to score :)
Rooooney Rooooney Rooooney!

Yeah, I was a bit puzzled when i read about this. Surely if he was going to really do it, he wouldn't have said it to the fucking media for them to shine the world's biggest spotlight on him and make the ref watch him closer.
I'm of the opinion that Ecuador can beat England anyway, but he's either the world's stupidest douche, or he's trying to play mindgames which isn't really necessary.

Ecuador won't beat a team of midgets if they play like they did against the Germans.
