Bayern Munich are ready to speak to Manchester United about signing Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said.

"The player wants to come to us. We know that," Rummenigge said in a newspaper interview carried on Bayern's website on Monday.

"Now we will approach the thing with all calm. We have to speak with the player and naturally with Manchester United. But there are no grounds for haste."

Van Nistelrooy stormed out of the club after being omitted from United's final Premier League game last season having spent most of the latter part of the campaign on the bench.

He still managed to finish the season as United's top scorer with 21 league goals.

The 30-year-old striker scored once at the World Cup.

does Man U have any decent striker that nobody knows about? besides Ole.
man...just when i thought Prem would be more competitive that now everybody hates chelsea. i guess, liverpool would take man u's place or even tottenham.

guess not....

MADRID, July 27 (Reuters) - Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy will join Real Madrid from Manchester United on a three-year contract, the Primera Liga club said on Thursday.

The deal is reported by Spanish media to be worth around 15 million euros ($19.12 million).

"Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Manchester United for the signing of Ruud van Nistelrooy," the Spanish club said in a statement.

"The player... will take a medical on Friday morning and will be presented in the afternoon at 1700 GMT in the Bernabeu."

The 30-year-old scored 150 goals for United since joining in 2001 for a then British record fee of 19 million pounds ($35.39 million).

He is Real's third signing under new president Ramon Calderon following on from Italy defender Fabio Cannavaro and Brazil midfielder Emerson, and will link up with former Manchester United team mate David Beckham.

Van Nistelrooy put in a transfer request two weeks ago and Real and Bayern Munich had been competing to secure his services for next season.

I heared in the media that Bayern Munich offered more money
but Manchester refused to deal with them.
Guess they are pissed off because Bayern Munich didnt dealt with them about Hargreaves.

that could be a good reason why they didnt go for it.

i've read that we were 5 mil euros from man u's asking price and that real did end up spending what man u was asking. so umm yea, whatever. i think we'll be fine though. but this whole transfer saga was very weird to me for some reason.

Money is money and business is business. You'd think SAF would be profesional enough to look past that. Unless he's not. and in that case... lol.

You never know, maybe Ruud just decided playing for RMA was too good an opp. to pass up...
