Is anyone following it? Does anyone care? I'm going to see my beloved Kansas City Wizards take on the Des Moines Menace at a local high school field!!!
I saw RSL won, so I guess that makes the MLS undefeated in the competition this year. Yay.
FORZA WIZ!!! LOL.

The U.S. Open Cup is the United States' equivalent of the FA Cup, I suppose.
I can't find anywhere that says any of the games will be on T.V...I kind of hope at least the semifinals are.

I'm not sure if anyone else is interested in this, but I happen to follow American soccer.
Chivas USA lost to what can basically be summed up as a semi-pro team. That's pretty embarassing, if you ask me.

And my beloved KC Wizards won. Yay! My friend even started the game, so that was exciting.

Real JamesO: whos your friend on KC
Ryan Raybould, midfielder, normally a reserve team guy. I'm really better friends (12 years) with his brother, but I remember hanging out with him as a kid. His whole family is really into soccer - everyone got a D1 college scholarship (two to Yale and one to Boston College).
It's pretty cool. I also went to the same high school as Will John, former Chicago Fire and current KC Wizards reserve.
blah, that was more than probably anyone wanted to know.

That's because there wasn't enough room... :( I figured I'd put my two favorites people were most familiar with.

Too bad MLS isn't set up like the Premiership where the bottom teams are relegated down and the top teams from the lower league are promoted up to MLS. Might make for a bit more competition.

Just to pick up on your point, US Open Cup seems a bit hollow when there's no relegation and promotion in the MLS. Especially since the MLS itself doesn't value this competition that much, otherwise they would drag it out toward they end of the season like all other leagues.
If anyone has seen open cup games, do the underdog teams play with real passion and drive like you'd expect them to or is it the same old boring soccer? To bad I live in Mississippi, or I would be winning this thing right now :D

Actually, the only U.S. Open Cup match I saw was kind of interesting, because everyone on the pitch was giving their all every minute. The development team (Des Moines Menace) were trying to prove themselves while the MLS team (KC Wizards) sported a team full of reserves who were also trying to prove themselves.
The play wasn't of the greatest quality, but the effort most definitely was there.

Ocean City is the town my dad grew up in, and where my family lives in the summer along the Jersey shore.
