The Canadian Soccer Association has announced that Richard Bate has resigned from his position to join premiership side Watford as a TD.
Good. Went to see one of his session and he is the most defensive mided old schooler. Truth be told, Canada has no problems defending, but we have problems scoring.
Anyway, first Yallop and now Bates. The CSA in in a dire state of disarray. I fear football will not improve in Canada.

Master Bate really f*cked us over. Why take the TD job if you're going to jump ship so early?
I didn't mind Yallop leaving though. I wanted him gone after the WCQ debacle. I just wish he would have left sooner though.
Hopefully the replacements will be better.

This is extracted from the CSA's website, on the announcement of Bate's hiring (September 21, 2005):
Ottawa, Ontario – The Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) has named Richard Bate, effective October 14, 2005, as Canada’s new Technical Director. Bate’s contract will see him lead the country’s technical programs until the end of 2009.
“After an exhaustive, extensive global search for the ‘right person’ to lead our Association’s technical programs, I believe we have the perfect man for the job,” declared CSA President Andy Sharpe. “Dick’s experience and dynamism is exactly what we require and I am excited about what the future holds for soccer in Canada.”

I think these are only wishful rumours.
His name is Jon Van Schip (sp?). He was born in Canada and moved back to Holland when he was still young. He's related (cousin, I think) to hockey player Joe Neuwendyk (sp?)

yeah thats the one... personally i'd probably stay with holland until euro2008 if i were him, then see whats up. it certainly would be sweet to have someone involved with the canadian organisation with world cup and euro cup experience for such a huge federation.
