At least it is a charitable cause - not good to see the shirt ruined, but better than a generic electrical, mobile phone, investment bank company.

I think they will be revered in some parts for this decision, not selling out to the corporate monster :D

They are charging UNICEF to put their name on their shirt

Isn't that against the concept of charitable donation?!

It doesn't say that we are having them as a shirt sponsor, just that we will be promoting them. There was a story about a month ago where we linked up with the Catalan section of UNICEF and people thought we would have them as a sponsor then. I still think that the kit will remain untouched. It is just part of Barca being more than a club, we care about people.

Besides those pics are from last years kits.

The image in the first post is just some shoddy photoshop work. The final annoucement will be made on the 11th of August. http://www.unicef.org/media/media_34946.html
As has been disclosed earlier, Barca will donate 0.7% of our profits (~2mio) to UNICEF.
I'm still hoping it's on the sleeve and not on front of the jersey, as nobuzz said.
Laporta is making UNICEF the first logo on the front of the jersey because he wants to phase the sponsorship idea in. This way he will not lose as many votes in the next election if he had gone with a sponsor like betandwin.
Eventually we will see a 'corporate' brand, if UNICEF is indeed going to be on the front.

OK donating some of the winnings to UNICEF is a better idea :)

I misunderstood the issue! I guess good for them, however I think fcb_sandy05 said it best: Laporta is trying to ease the sponsorship deal in ;)

Just before stepping down Laporta said something about the deal that it might not happen if they have to step down.
