After a fortnight of intense speculation, Gigi Buffon’s agent has surprisingly announced that the Azzurri shot stopper will not be leaving Juventus.

“Gigi is staying with Juventus,” Silvano Martina stated. “He’s ready to play in Serie B. He’s never won the Serie B title and now he wants to try.”

Since the Calciopoli verdict relegated Juventus to Italy’s second tier, several clubs have been linked with the 28-year-old custodian.

“There was a bid from Roma to take him on loan but Juve didn’t consider it,” Martina revealed. “The club said what any club would have – Buffon is an international and they could sell him for a vast fee, there’s no reason to loan him.”

Buffon’s reluctance to move overseas and the Champions League ban imposed on Milan also served to scupper advances from his main suitors.

In 2001, Buffon became the world’s most expensive goalkeeper when he moved from Parma to Juve for £33m.

Having recovered from a dislocated shoulder suffered last summer, Buffon returned to action last November.

He went on to enjoy a fairytale season winning the Scudetto with Juve and the World Cup with Italy as well as the FIFA Lev Yashin Award for the best goalkeeper in the tournament.

Juve have already received a boost today with reports that Pavel Nedved will join Alessandro Del Piero in committing to the club.

The Bianconeri will now hope that other key players follow Buffon’s example and stay loyal to the Old Lady.

To me, this is the best news ever. Buffon is the best keeper ever and he's won everything...except for the Serie B championship, which I think he wants to achieve as well. This is awesome. I will be watching Buffon play for Juve and Abbiatti for Torino. The best thing is, I don't have to go anywhere. God bless Turin!
Everytime I hear a calcio star willing to play for Juve even in the Serie B, it brings tears to my eyes. Ale Del Piero, Nedved, and now Buffon...this just made my day :D FORZA BUFFON! FORZA JUVE!

JUVE WON'T SELL BUFFON TO MILAN

Juventus have ruled out selling goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon to AC Milan this summer following Milan's decision to loan goalkeeper Cristian Abbiati to Juve's neighbours Torino.

Abbiati played last season on loan at Juve and, following an impressive campaign, the Bianconeri had hoped he would remain with them this term.

Buffon has been linked with a move the other way, with Arsenal and Manchester United also mentioned as a possible destination for the Italy international following the Serie A match-fixing verdict, which saw Juve relegated to Serie B and hit with a 30-point deduction.

But Juve's head of sporting activities Alessio Secco fumed to the Italian press: "Abbiati has joined Torino? Then Buffon will not join Milan.''

Should Juventus fail in their appeal to the Federal Court against their demotion, the likelihood is that many of their players will leave the club.

Buffon, however, has not ruled out the possibility of remaining at the Stadio Delle Alpi.

"If Juve want to keep me I will not have a problem playing in Serie B," admitted the Italy international.

Very happy that Gigi has pledged his loyality to Juve, just shows that still some players play for the shit and not for other things. Hope a few others decide to stay aswell.

Calm yourselves. La Gazzetta is now reporting that after Ibrahimovich goes to Milan, everything will be happy and peaceful again and Buffon will come as well.
