View Full Version : DEL PIERO, NEDVED & BUFFON Staying @ Juve!!!
I was very pleased to read that they were going to stay w/ JUVE in B. Maybe this will encourage Zambo and Canna to stay. :D :)
Forza Juve!
Gianluigi Buffon's agent has stated that the World Cup winning goalkeeper will remain with Juventus in Serie B next season.
The Italian international, widely regarded as the world's best shot-stopper, had been expected to leave the Bianconeri after the sanctions imposed on the club for their part in the Italian match-fixing scandal.
With clubs such as Arsenal, Roma and Milan reportedly circling it seemed as though a season in Serie B with a 30-point deduction would be too much to stomach for a star who is accustomed to the biggest stages.
However, Silvano Martina has now handed Juventus a huge boost in their bid to bounce back from the scandal, insisting that Buffon is prepared to stay with the Turin side for the coming campaign after they turned down an approach from Roma.
"Gigi is staying with Juventus," said Martina.
"He's ready to play in Serie B. There was a bid from Roma to take him on loan but Juve didn't consider it.
"The club said what any club would have, Buffon is an international and they could sell him for a vast fee, there's no reason to loan him."
Juventus sporting director Alessio Secco claims Alessandro Del Piero and Pavel Nedved will stay at the club.
A number of top stars including Del Piero and Nedved have been linked with moves away from Juve in the wake of their relegation from Serie A.
Juventus expect to offload several players as a result of their demotion, but they remain hopeful of keeping some of their stars.
Tottenham have been credited with an interest in Czech ace Nedved, while several sides are thought to be monitoring Del Piero's situation.
However, Secco insists that both players are planning to stay at the Stadio Delle Alpi.
"I've spoken to Alex Del Piero, who told me he's staying along with Pavel Nedved," said Secco.
Secco also played down talk linking Milan with star goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.
Milan have been leading the chase for the World Cup winner, but Christian Abbiati's move to Torino has cast a doubt over Buffon's switch.
Secco admitted Milan had enquired about signing Buffon in part exchange with Abbiati, but now Abbiati has moved elsewhere it has put a spanner in the works.
"With the sale of Abbiati to Torino, the chances of seeing Buffon move to Milan have decreased," added Secco.
"We spoke to Milan a few days ago about Buffon where they offered us money and Abbiati in exchange."
Secco also confirmed that Juventus were still in talks with Real Madrid about key trio Fabio Cannavaro, Emerson and Gianluca Zambrotta.
Real are keen to sign the trio, but Juventus are adamant they will only sell for the right price.
"We'll meet them again in a few days to talk more," said Secco.
"We are ready to sell players, but only at the right price."

if we get the points reduced to 10 and keep all our top players then we'll definetly be straight up :)
I'm aiming for the following hat trick:
1.Keep the 05-06 scudetto
2. Points reduced to 10 or less
3. all top players stay
very good news

The summer transfer period is far from over.
Everybody's got a price. Buffon might change his mind and come to a Premiership club. ;)

He said he wants to stay in Italy, nobody in Italy can pay the fee and Juve won't loan him so he's staying. ;)

Don't get your hopes up just yet when it comes to Nedved. His agent has told the Czech media that Nedved will announce his decision on July 24th and that he hasn't decided yet. So he might not even stay, though it's more likely he will. :)

Yes, Pavel will stay, he likes the city, the club, the atmosphere. There's nothing like Turin.

I can understand the decisions behind staying with Juve in Serie B. But I have to ask... Why do it? I think a professional footballer should always strive to play against top competition, and when you're playing in a lower league, you are not doing that.
When you decide to stay with Juve in Serie B for the next two years, you are essentially saying that you have put a large salary as a priority over your desire and drive to compete against the very best the world has to offer (champions league). Two years is a long time in the ever-shortening career of a footballer.
Then again, why should we be surprised? Money is always the most important issue...

That's same as leaving your one of you family members behind when he/she gets a disease. Would you say the same? The name Del Peiro is synonym with Juventus. He wouldn't leave them. Nedved isn't one of those money hungry whores.
Though I'd love to have Buffon at United. Because they are my favorite club. :) Hope you understand.

Nedved is 33 (34 in less than one month) and Del Piero is 32 if I'm not mistaken. What's the point of leaving for both of them? They love the club, they love the city, Nedved's family lives there (not sure about Del Piero).
It's not about money, because they would get more or at least the same wherever else they would go.

Yes, but havent you ever heard of a veteran player leaving his long-time club to finish his career somewhere else, somewhere that he will not only be able to get playing time, but to play for other competitive teams? *robert pires, luis figo*

but that is just the point.. juve is selling all their start players with exception of the older, more dedicated players. they will be the center of the team.. del piero, nedved, buffon.. and they will probably start almost every match. so im sure they arent that worried about it and might even be happier since they might get more playing time than in serie a.

bbc juve article (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/europe/5205794.stm)
But Cesare Zaccone, the solicitor defending Juve, said: "The career for a footballer is short and some of our best players are world champions.
"None of them wants to risk two years in Serie B or, worse still, relegation to Serie C1 (Italy's third division)."
Isn't that what I said a few posts ago and was criticised for? I expect the intelligence of Cesare Zaccone to be called into question, as mine was.

I have to admit that I'm not overly surprised about Nedved and Del Piero, because let's face it--"youthful" isn't exactly what comes to mind when you think of them, and that's before considering their iconic status on the squad.
Buffon, on the other hand? THAT one's a bit surprising.

I can't imagine del piero anywhere else cos he's never been anywhere else..he'll never leave unless they want him to (and they never will) especially now that he'll likely start again
nedved too..he's going on 34 so why leave?
buffon is somewhat of a surprise, but for all of them, just imagine the legend that will arise when they get back to primera
it'll be like bati at fiorentina
when were back in A we will be back at the top and Buffon knows that were he wants to be.

Last I heard, Camo is not motivated to play in Serie B but I think he will stay and Trezeguet will stay if Juve offer him more money this season...

i think older players want to be in a team where they know that they'll get playing time ... DP's been on the bench under capello and is probably desperate to start some games for juve .. also hes been at juve since 93 and to be realistic, if he leaves, i dont think any big clubs from europe will want his services and he'll be stuck somewhere in greece like rivaldo or maybe go to the mideast like hierro and effenberg and i think romario went there as well and batistuta .. serie b is way better than any of the asian leagues and if they advance to serie a next season then thats way better than playing in greece or turkey ... also by sticking with juve in serie b, he might end being remembered as the greatest juve legend of all time (hes already the top scorer and in the record books) also, i think he knows that he might not play for the azzuri anymore so his biggest challenge now is to take juve back to top of serie a and end his career on a high ...
i wish baggio had still been playing and juve cud have brought him back
