do ppl not learn from what has been happening to real madrid over the past 3 years ??? inter has 6 world class strikers and so many other stars in their team .. yet the quality upfront is far greater than that at the back and that cud cause problems for them this season ...

I think zanetti and burdisso are great defenders. I also think Samuel can do an adequet job, plus matterazzi...well...he's not that bad. I think their defence, while not looking nearly as good as their offence, is still as good as any other teams in the serie a.

had to be a juventini to start this thread....lol
anyway, you are right somewhat that a "galacticos" team MAY cause problems and have shown to do so (CURRENT real madrid)
however, it has also been shown to be successful if you look at the current Chelsea squad (last 2 years....they have been successful by my standards) and Real Madrid from 2000 - 2002 (figo, makalele, juninho, redondo, raul, morientes, zidane...may i continue)
so in my opinion, it could either work or not work and it is not a definitive and guaranteed to fail....
just my 2 cents

Madrid started failing when they got a new coach. Think about that.

i think that whether all the stars in a team get along or not depends more on what players u have than how many ... to me, adriano and zlatan dont seem to be the type of players who will accept being on the bench for longer periods of time ... also inter have bought viera as well and there were reports last year of some sort of 'disagreement' between him and ibra ... and then u have materazzi who im sure is on every french guy's favorite player list :D ... in my humble opinion, inter has too many hotheaded guys in the team and all it takes for the whole winning momentum (if any) to break down is a few locker room/training ground bust ups ... but then again, being the juve fan that i am , i might be wrong about this whole thing and inter might go on and win the scudetto or the champs league ... i think that the point of having stars in a team is to make the other players better ... if u admit that someone else is better u tend to learn from them but if u think that ur the biggest 'star' in the team then the whole getting better part goes down the drain .. nyways, we'll see how it goes in a few months ...

again...you guys dont understand football and transfers...
you cannot sell before you buy....especially when trying to acquire top talent because they may either go elsewhere or may not move at all...
inter COULD NOT sell Martins, recoba or cruz before they picked up other strikers...
this is the latest news today:
http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/aug14f.html
it looks likely that martins will go for around 10mil and recoba on loan, trimming down the strike force to a very manageable 4...

roma is also trying to get pizarro, so that will be a further reduction of the 'surplus' on the team....
what will you say then???

Nope, 1 word "Makalele"
and also the purchase of Beckham to sell shirts also helped in the demise of Real.

the problem isn't having a whole bunch of stars - the problem is when those stars aren't brought up in your footballing system. There are combinations of players that just won't work no matter how talented the individuals are. This happened to RM. They forgot about growing ... and old superstars have problems growing into a system (usually). There are exceptions; I fully consider henke a star and thought he was absolutely perfectly integrated by his second season at barca.

I don' tthink so, I think inters recent spending spree was simply the result of tremendous opportunity(juve's relegation). Ibra and Viera, for what they went for, were steals. And if Inter had been quicker to act, I'm sure they could have gotten Cannavaro and Zambrotta(where you could argue where they need more bolstering). Still, if next summer or this January they haven't upped their defense, then they might be the new galacticos but this summer they were just placed in situations of tremendous opportunity that they would have been foolish to pass up. And I agree with what was mentioned earlier, Martins put in a transfer request so he's pretty much gone, and I think by the close of the window, they'll be down to 4.

It's a good thing you bought Ibrahimovic. The money is always useful. This is a business after all. Good luck with your purchase.
