Why don't we have a sub-forum for Dutch football?
Nobody interested in Ajax, AZ, Feyenoord, PSV???

It would be nice. Since two estonians play in Eredvise I would have some interest in it. Well, I can manage with just this thread too.
Roma is linked with Ajax player Urby Emanuelson. Has anyone seen him play? Read about him on wikipedia and ajax official site. Seems like he is a good talent.

I love Ajax Amsterdam. One of the best teams which always produces quality talent year after year. Must say Dutch league is very exciting and entertaining. Shame Dutch National team cannot win major trophies besides of all this talent at their disposal. I think Dutch league has one of the best youth systems as you can see the talent which comes out of the country through various clubs. Must say if I were a manager I would deffo scout and get some amazing players for cheap (I do that in FM already).
Gotta give credit to PSV though for getting that huge result in their last match to win the title on goal difference. Must hurt for Ajax to lose the title by 1 goal..

Hi everyone.
I just wanted an information from people who followed the Dutch Eredivise. Here in Paris, there is a rumour that Heerenveen player has interest fron Paris SG staff. I wanted to know some information about this player that I didn't know: his position, his skills, etc
thanks in advance ;)

A bit late but I never noticed this thread until now.;)
I think the player is Lasse Nilsson, an attacker from Heerenveen, also PSV is interested in him but it seems he's a bit expensive, some unofficial sources says the demand price is around the 6 million euros.
Anyway he had a good season, scoring 11 goals and producing 10 assists(all competitions), he's a fast lad who has a more than decent technic skills and he also can play as winger but he doesn't like it and prefers to be a striker.
He's at best when there is a companion who scores a lot of goals because he's more a producer of assists than a goalscorer.
Still I hope you guys will buy him because I don't think he's good enough for PSV, miss to many chances and imo he's lacking character, I think it's a good footballer only just not good enough.

Where will goalgetter Afonso Alvez be next season ?
I think Ajax are also in the market for Lasse Nilsson after losing Ryan Babel.

Is this still the main forum when it comes to Dutch football?
Aside from that, I just wanted to let everyone know that if they want to know anything about a player from the Dutch league, they can just give me a shout.
Funny seeing Oscarito here as well. Met him on another forum a while back.

I don't think I can. As NeQ said, it's hard to get a hold of tickets without a season ticket. And as I'm no fan of AZ in particular, I don't have the connections to get you a ticket through another way either. Sorry, mate.

Go gooo eredivisie!
ajax ftw ! :D
He's no VanDerVaart, Sneijder nor a Litmanen but he's the best "number 10" in the Eridivisie at the moment and I cannot hide the fact that I'm glad he's back in an Ajax shirt.
With TenTwat gone to Chelski, I was rueful of the fact that Perez was at P$V. He'd score 8 times in 14 league games for them and some of those goals were outstanding! This is not counting his creative contributions too! With him in the side, Ajax arguably have the most potent forward line.
*fingers crossed* for the 2nd half of the season.
Too bad there's no Dutch subforum.
Ajax Amsterdam is going to create the best Attack of the whole world:
Sulejmani-Huntelaar-Suarez
Remember the names, all becomes big players in the future.

Well,
I'm not here for long time - in this forum - but when I realised myself that here is not any forum or sub-forum about Dutch Eredivisie I was quite shocked. When you look at tradition of this league, top clubs and their succes on international area and dutch players who are doing faboulos job around the world it's surprisingly that league like scottish have their forum and holland don't. I think a lot of people here will be interested in dutch league, but well...it's not my decision. Still I think it's terrific forum and I'm really happy to be here, around so many great football fans.

I always look out for Dutch league games on TV (there's usualy one a week on UK tv and highlights (goalissimo, etc), but on Maxxed, there doesn't seem to be much interest. Look at this thread for instance, many of the Eridivisie supporters have only a few dozen posts or so on the whole site. The Scots forum has many posters with hundreds and even thousands of posts, not just in that sub-forum but all over the place.
Maybe it's more to do with a lack of interest or zeal from the Eridivisie supporting members, rather than any error from the people running the site. If there was a decent level of interest, then I'm sure Maxxed would provide a sub-forum. That's not the case atm unfortunately and there's no point having a section of the forum lying dormant the majority of the time.
Just my opinion on the matter. ;)

What do AZ fans think of Brett Holman? He cops a lot of sledging from Aussie supporters because he never seems to perform in the green and gold. Yet he must be doing something right if AZ pay a hefty transfer fee to take him off NEC.
It was nice to see quite a few Dutch based Aussies in the Socceroos lineup against Netherlands the other day - Culina, Holman, Wilkshire (now in Russia)

Been following FC Twente this season because of the Chelsea loanee's Stoch and Rajković. Stoch had a great game on the weekend scoring a brace against Heerenveen. Twente are sitting in seocnd place, only behind on goal difference. More than was expected by most, hopefully they can keep it up.
Thanks to Kraiden and rog I've been able to see most of their matches this season.

FC Twente are indeed doing great this season. 1st place ATM; however I don't think they will keep up. Twente is very dependent of a few players, and the players on their bench are nowhere near the quality of the first 11 players.
Personally, I think Ajax will be champions. I'd like them to be champions, but also, they play the best football.

What's the best season a team has had in the Eredivisie? At least in the modern era. Surely Twente are close. 80 points from a possible 93 is amazing. And from a team that has never won the league before!

Well, they have kinda won the league but that was before the merger that resulted in Twente as we know it today.
Not sure about the points tally thing. Maybe Dynamin knows.

I know. It happened over 40 years ago so it's nothing recent.
I wasn't able to find anything by searching so I just backtracked through wiki pages, season by season, for 30+ years. Eventually the point system in the league changed to two points for victory, so I stopped there. The best seasons I found were:
PSV 2004-05 | 87 points (27 W - 6 D - 1 L)
Ajax 1997-98 | 89 points (29 W - 2 D - 3 L)
As of this moment Twente are:
Twente 2009-10 | 80 points (25 W - 5 D - 1 L)
I believe they have 3 games remaining, so if they can win out they will match Ajax's total.

Haha yeah it was in 1926 when the last won it.
Twente have a tough run-in though. They have to play AZ and Breda away with a home game against Feyenoord in between.
Ajax routed Venlo today with hat-tricks for Pantellic and Suarez. They are now 4 points back but their run-in is much simpler.

Ajax need NAC to do them a favour against Twente as they are just one point behind.
Exciting stuff. Really hope someones able to post the Twente game.

Meanwhile a whole season has passed and you (might have) missed a great Championship match in the '10-'11 season.
Twente was one point ahead of Ajax with only one match remaining.
Ajax played at home in their final match vs Twente. Only a win would make Ajax Champions.
The Eredivisie had never seen a Championship match like this and the Amsterdam Arena was pumped.
Ajax won the match and crowned themselves Champions of the Eredivisie season 2010 - 2011.

Eredivisie 2011 - 2012
The season has started! Two matches have been played, this weekend the 3rd round of matches will be played.
Clubs
Ajax has been impressive so far with 2 wins, respectively 1-4 and 5-1m and thereby leading the standings after two rounds.
Feijenoord has won their two matches. been playing some very attractive football. Although they gained little reinforcements over the summer, their young team is full of potential top players, as is common to the Eredivisie.
PSV has been disappointing with a loss and a meagre win.
Twente has won two matches as well. Runnerup from last season, they managed to win the Super Cup over Ajax. Although Ajax was widely seen as a the superior team that day, Twente managed to capitulate with one more goal.

Top players to look out for
Bryan Ruiz (26, Costa Rica) is currently playing for FC Twente. Very unlikely he'll stay at Twente this season and has been rumoured to move to the Spurs, although Redknapp has recently said he wasn't interested anymore.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bryan_Ruiz
Christian Eriksen, 19, is currently playing for Ajax. A lot of top clubs have showed interest in this very talented attacking midfielder. As with many Eredivisie players, he's staying to develop himself, instead of moving abroad.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Eriksen
Douglas, full name Douglas Franco Teixeira, (23, Brazil) is a very beefy central defender. As with Ruiz, interest from top clubs from the EPL has been shown.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_Franco_Teixeira
There's more but these three are either very prominent and about to transfer (Ruiz, Douglas) or very, very good (Eriksen).

Two weeks later:
Twente is performing very well, being the only club with 12 points out of 4 matches.
Ajax following closely with 10 points out 4
PSV is 3rd with 9 points.
Feijenoord and AZ have 8 points.
Promovendus RKC takes a surprisingly 7th place behind Vitesse, both have 7 points, as does NEC.

The most bizarre moment in Dutch football just occurred.
Historical...
In the Ajax - AZ match for the KNVB Cup a batshit insane man entered the pitch assaulted the AZ goalie Esteban. He tried to karate kick the AZ goalie Esteban in the back. He barely deflected the kick. The attacker tripped and Esteban kicked him twice before stewards got to him. The ref gave Esteban red and the AZ coach took all his players off the pitch because he couldn't guarantee the safety of his players.
The match is discontinued.
Crazy match.
To be continued.

I saw that. That was abosolutely nuts. It's like a Pepe moment. Estenban should be punished for those actions. You simply dont kick some one even if he tried to attack you.
Gonna be interesting at what is going to happen. Ajax will definitely be punished as well.
