Football Magazines in Germany

I haven`t been reading any Football Magazines for a number of years.
Back when I did, there was only "Kicker" on the market, I believe.

Recently I realised that there are a number of nice alternatives on the market, being released monthly.

I personally like "11 Freunde" the most and sometimes get myself a copy of "Player". "Rund" I don`t like too much.

What do you people think of those magazines, or do you have any other interesting magazines to tell of ?

i like 11 freunde very much, best mag imo.
rund is shite cause it came out much later than 11 freunde and copies a lot of topics from them, besides that i hate the ugly layout.
player is nothing for me either - too much ads and lifestyle crap too less football imo.
a new mag which just came out and seems pretty good to me is "fourfourtwo" i was positively surprised by the first issue.
kicker is still alright, nothing special though, just stats and analysis.
a somehow strange but still quite interesting mag with a very own and more poetic and artistic approach on football is "der tödliche pass".
the only mag i really hate is sport-bild, which is exactly the same shite as bild-zeitung in general...i wouldnt spend one cent on that crap :mad: .
the best mags are usually independent fanzines from the active fanscene of clubs but those are hard to get...

11Freunde is really a great magazine, I love every whole issue. I think you can't compare that to the Kicker, which is also a good mag, but I only go to the kicker website. When I'm on holiday I buy the print issue.

I saw a commercial of the "fourfourtwo" magazine, but I didn't manage to look for it in a kiosk. When you say that it's worth a try I will buy it the next time I see the mag.

I also like Stadionwelt, but that's a whole different sort of football mag. The magazine is full of stadium articles and supporter stories. On the website www.stadionwelt.de you can get an impression of the topics in it.

It`s dealing more or less with football by people like you and me and comes from the "11 Freunde" publishers.

I bought the last two issues because of your post and I like the magazine.
The layout is terrible, like some popmusic magazine for teenagers, but the articles are ok and they feature quite some EPL stuff as well, which I like a lot.

A little update on the topic :
"Rund" will no longer be released and "Player" seems to have become a magazine with less and lees football in it.


Olympia-Verlag stellt Fußball-Magazin "Rund" ein

Das Spiel abgepfiffen hat der Olympia-Verlag für das Fußballmagazin "Rund". In der vergangenen Woche gab der Verlag noch "technische Probleme" für die überfällige Auslieferung des aktuellen Heftes an, nun bestätigte man die Einstellung. Aufgeben will die Redaktion aber noch nicht.

Und wieder ist ein Fußball-Magazin gescheitert. Die Ausgabe 05/2007 des Magazins "Rund" hätte eigentlich bereits am 18. April ausgeliefert werden sollen, lässt jedoch nach wie vor auf sich warten. Als Grund nannte der Verlag noch in der vergangenen Woche "technische Probleme".

Um welche technischen Probleme es sich handelte, wollte man allerdings nicht sagen - und mit den technischen Problemen war es offensichtlich auch nicht weit her. Am Montag gab der Verlag, der auch den "kicker" herausbringt, nun bekannt, dass das Fußball-Magazin "Rund" endgültig eingestellt wird. Die überfällige Ausgabe 5/2007 wird somit nicht mehr ausgeliefert werden.

Das Projekt sei "im Einvernehmen mit der Redaktionsgemeinschaft" vorzeitig beendet worden, teilte der Verlag mit. Der Gund für das Aus sind nach Verlagsangaben die enttäuschenden Verkaufszahlen. 50.000 verkaufte Exemplare habe man angepeilt, nur rund 25.000 waren es zuletzt. Die durch die WM ausgelöste Euphorie im Segment Fußball habe nicht zu der erwünschten Ausdehnung im Bereich der Monatstitel geführt, so die Verlagsleitung.

Die "Rund"-Redaktion unter Rainer Schäfer gibt jedoch nicht auf. Derzeit suche man einen neuen Partner, das das Fußballmagazin in Zukunft herausbringen soll. Der Olympia Verlag will sich hingegen auf sein Flaggschiff "kicker" konzentrieren, das im ersten Quartal 2007 gegen den Trend steigende Auflagenzahlen vermeldete.

Der Olympia Verlag ist dabei nicht allein im Bund der Gescheiterten, die ein neues Sport-Magazin etablieren wollten. Auch die Motor Presse Stuttgart konnte "Champ" nicht erfolgreich am Markt platzieren, B&D Media hat das Magazin "Player" mittlerweile vom Fußball- zum Männermagazin für alles mögliche umgewandelt und beschäftigt sich seitdem unter anderem auch mit Themen wie Job, Wirtschaft und Lebenshilfe. Tapfer hält sich hingegen das Fan-Magazin "11 Freunde".

That`s really sad as the last issues of "Rund" in my opinion finally got better in my eyes.
But as long as "11Freunde" is there, I am happy ;)
