I haven't seen him play yet (waiting for the highlights show to be uploaded), but from reading the reports from the weekends match, Sydney would be crazy not to sign him. He would at least go along way to over turning some of the stale football we've been playing lately.

He played well, but he's not all that well known for his consistency. I doubt he'll be a problem.

LOL! Cya in a few weeks mate. Beni is going to tear your defence to shreds.

He gives us exactly what we were missing in the middle of the park and completly changes the way we play football. We now have someone to go through in the middle rather than just the 2 DMs and Corica who just doesnt have the fitness. Cant wait to see him at home this week!

He played superbly a fortnight ago. That goal and the back-heel flick. He should fit in comfortably.

Hi Dane. Do you still think Beni will rip the Melbourne defence to shreds from the sideline with a bung hamstring? :D

I rather enjoyed Sydney's 3-1 loss to 6th placed CCM tonight.

The only way I can see Sydney grabbing any points from next weeks match is if Carney is back, and Butcher decides not to continually pump the long ball. Even then it'll be 1 point at the most.

Leijer will be back from suspension, reforming the Pior-Vargas-Leijer "'Ard As Fuck" backline. Allsopp is in the best form of his A-League career, Archie is playing more for the team than he ever has before... and you can't really beat the midfield pairing of Muscat & Brebner.
That's not even bringing Fred or Allesandro into the equation... so I'd be worried dude, real worried.

I can't make it up next weekend, as I have to work , but I hear there are around 200 going up. The Victory support has NEVER been outsung by The Cove, now matter how hard the Sydney board wants to spin it :)

Oh wake up to yourself! You lot will be outsung & outplayed... Carbone or no Carbone!
We'll be up for this one.. Melbored have some quality players, but we're gonna bring it on Saturday! This is our home turf you're gonna be on!

Where do you guys get this whole Sydney rivalry from anyway? Does it stem from your long-standing inferiority complex as a state in general?
I really don't have any strong feelings about your team and to be honest mate.. in terms of team rivalry, I care more about beating the Roar than you lot!

Why don't you switch your attention to Adelaide.. was bloody hilarious seeing Kosmina grabbing Musc-rat by the throat on the weekend! :D

Why don't you just go ahead & pick out the "factual errors" instead?

Why would you want to bring the childish shit that goes on at melbournevictory.net and sydneyfc-unofficial.com here?

This is how the conversation goes.

You: You suck and you'll lose
Me: We already beat you, and we're ready to do it again in what should be a good rivalrous match
You: Rivalry? Stupid 'tard fuckhead. You just want to beat us because you know we have a better city and you feel like small poppies out to prove something
Me: [insert blah blahs about Melbourne being the most livable city in the world, and you couldn't pay me any amount of money to live in Sydney]. You scum seem to talk about hating us a lot and the desire to beat us at everything you do... but there's no rivalry... no, no of course not
You: LOL UR MOTHER IS FUCKING YOUR BROTHER
Me: LOL UR ALL FAGETS AND LOVE SUCKING COCK YOU FUCKING FUDGE PACKERS.

Shall I go on? We all know where this is going. It's stupid, it's juvenile and there's no place for it on this forum.

Trust me, I'm not into those kind of arguments either! Get a bit of a sense of humour mate.. the fact I even replied in the first place means that there is some sort of rivalry between the two cities/states & it should be a good fiery clash on Saturday. Nothing wrong with a bit of gee'ing up is there? No need to start calling eachother names.. RIGHT??

Anyway.. good luck to you guys! Just remember how circumstances drastically changed around this time last season! :p

Good job recruiting some brazilians during the offseason btw.. I like the idea of bringin a South American influence into the A-League! Too bad they pretty much stink! Maybe the next couple will be better, huh? :D

Sorry mate, been a long, hard day... but you Sydney guys like it long and hard, so I guess you wouldn't understand why that's a bad thing for me.

Back on topic......

A bit sad to see Carbone hit the road. I definitely think it's the best move for both parties though. I hear he would have missed up to 6 games or so with the torn hammy. For the kind of money he wanted in order to stay on, it wasn't a viable option IMO.

I'd like to see an attempt at bringing in another marquee player.. no idea who would be available though. We definitely need some kind of creativity & flair in the team.. maybe someone should pick up the phone & call the agent of a certain Mr. Collymore!! :D

LOL we got $500 000 out of him. He wanted to stay until the end of the season but the club decided to get something out of him rather than just let him go after his conract expired. Good business IMO.

He wanted to stay and Sydeny fucked up, showed no desire to resign him or interest sorting out a deal.

Sydney are shite without him and will continue down that path.

Yeah, we did great business. Got good money for a 34 year who in my opinion didnt perform on the park as well as he could have playing DM.

You say we are shit but dont back it up. Although I agree with you to an extent ;)

Ok lets see.

He performed very well when he first arrived playing upfront. Were he played most of his football and produced. He went back into midfield due to lack of sheer quality and still done the job asked of him. Not the job that makes a player stand out though. He was forced to do all the dirty work that really he wasnt signed to do.

ATM Sydney are crap, they play a poor formation under Butcher, while the do lack some quality in a few areas. Given though they are missing Carney who is a big loss though with the way Butcher has set things out while he was fit, he wasnt quite the same as last season when he had more freedom and played a formation that wasnt so narrow.

Dane
19-10-2006, 06:25 AM
Mate, the 4-2-3-1 he played against Adelaide and mostly in pre season uses width excellently through Brosque and Zad/Carney. Too bad he doesnt play that formation enough!

The club did well out of Yorke and you know it!

He was worth more to Sydney then 500k.

Sydney just showed him no love, and he wont be the last player to be treated like that. He was just a toy and the novality had worn thin, so they decided to look for something better.

Sydney fucked up and thats my opinion.

I AGREE with you 100% mate. Sydney may make money out of this but is money really worth it when you don't have the quality like Dwight Yorke in your team? You can't just treat a player like that, it gives the club bad reputation, what they did with Carbone, ok fair enough, it wouldn't be worth it for the money they were needing to pay and they were in a difficult situation. But do you really think that these to moves have helped Sydney on the pitch? These players have been doing most of the thinking and creating on the pitch and these are the players a team like Sydney FC need if they want to be successful!

He left because he asked what was going on, Sydney didn't have the decency to even talk to him, so he left.

I don't blame him, the way he was treated is the same as we are playing on the pitch, totally shithouse.
