Since it seems that the hotest topic is Inter these days and we want to avoid trolling. I decided to start this thread.

HISTORY

1908
At the beginning of the century, Milan derbies did not exist. At that time there was only "Milan Cricket and Football Club" (now AC Milan). But on 9 March 1908, a group of rebels form "Football Club Internazionale Milano". The name of the club derives from the wish of its founding members to accept foreign players as well as Italians, hence the name Internazionale. Indeed, the first captain of the side is a Swiss player - Hernst Manktl. The club colours are gold, black and blue, a tradition which has been kept right up to the present day.

1910
Inter win the Italian league for the first time. The captain of the championship-winning team is Virgilio Fossati, who several years later dies in World War I. But even without Fossati, Inter win their second title in 1920.

1930
During the Fascist era, the club is forced to merge with the Milanese Unione Sportiva and the team wins its third Scudetto under the name of Ambrosiana Inter.

1934
Nerazzurri Allemandi, Castellazzi, Demaria and the legendary Giuseppe Meazza win the World Cup with the Italian national team in Rome in 1934. Two years later, Frossi and Locatelli win the gold medal at the Berlin Olympics.

1938
Inter players Ferraris II, Ferrari, Locatelli and Meazza are involved in the Azzurri set-up that wins the 1938 World Cup in Paris. The same year, Inter win their fourth Scudetto, while the clubs first Coppa Italia success comes in 1939. Another league title arrives in 1940, while the name Ambrosiana is abandoned in October 1945, after which the club returns to its previous name Inter.

1947
Giuseppe Meazza plays the last of his 408 official matches in an Inter shirt. The Inter striker, who attains legend status with his 287 goals for the club, dies in 1979, and a year later the San Siro stadium is named in his honour.

1953
The Nerazzurri win their sixth Scudetto in 1953 and repeat the success a year later thanks to four great protagonists Italian Benito "Veleno" Lorenzi, Swede Skoglund Dutchman Wilkes and the stateless Nyers.

1963
The "Great Inter" era begins. The club president is Angelo Moratti, the coach is Helenio Herrera and the line-up is unforgettable: Sarti, Burgnich, Facchetti, Bedin, Guarneri, Picchi, Jair, Mazzola, Milani (Domenghini), Suarez, and Corso. The Great Inter side win three Serie A titles (in 1964, 1965 and 1966 the latter is the tenth Scudetto which allows the club to wear one gold star on their shirts), two European Cups (in 1964 against Real Madrid and 1965 against Benfica) and two Intercontinental Cups (in 1964 and 1965, both against Argentine outfit Independiente). In 1964, Suarez wins the European championship with the Spanish national team.

1968
Burgnich, Domenghini, Facchetti, Guarneri and Mazzola contribute to the Italian national team's success at the 1968 European championship in Rome. Three years later, the Nerazzurri win their eleventh Scudetto under the guidance of coach Gianni Invernizzi.

1982
After the twelfth Serie A title won in 1980, Altobelli, Bergomi, Bordon, Marini and Oriali win the World Cup with Italy in Madrid in 1982

1989
Inter win their thirteenth Scudetto in 1989, garnering a record 58 points from 34 matches (two points awarded for a win). A year later at Italia '90, Inter's German trio of Brehme, Klinsmann and Matthaeus win the World Cup in Rome. The same year, Lothar Matthaeus becomes the first Inter player to be awarded the prestigious European Player of the Year award.

1991
On 22 May 1991, exactly 26 years since their last international success, Inter defeat Roma 2-1 on aggregate in the UEFA Cup final. Matthaeus and Berti score for the Nerazzurri in the first leg at the Meazza. Inter defeat Salzburg in the final three years later to win their second UEFA Cup.

1998
Ronaldo is the first Inter player to win the FIFA World Player award and the second to win the coveted Ballon d'Or. Inter lose out on the Scudetto after a long duel with rivals Juventus, but beat Lazio 3-0 in Paris to lift their third UEFA Cup. Frenchman Djorkaeff beats Brazilian Ronaldo in another prestigious match played in Paris - the 1998 World Cup final.

2000
On 12 April, the world is struck by Ronaldo's injury during the Coppa Italia final against Lazio. The "Phenomenon" makes a return to the pitch and scores again in the 2001/02 season. In the meantime, Nerazzurri defender Laurent Blanc is part of the French side that beats Italy in the final of Euro 2000.

2001
The season concludes with Inter overtaking AC Milan to finish 5th in the Serie A championship. During the summer, a "Ronaldo Day" is held to celebrate the Phenomenon's return to competitive football. In November, one of Inter's most legendary players, the unforgettable full-back Giacinto Facchetti, becomes vice president of the club. Unfortunately, in December, Inter fan par excellence and vice president of the Beneamata Avv. Giuseppe Prisco passes away two days after his eightieth birthday.

2002
Inter go very close to winning their fourteenth Scudetto. Leaders going into the last match of the season and with a one-point advantage over Juventus, they lose 4-2 away to Lazio at Rome's Olimpico stadium. The Scudetto goes to Juventus, while Roma beat Inter into second place. Just as in 1967, the last match of the championship is fatal to the Nerazzurri.

2004
Hector Cuper guides Inter to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League and a historic two-legged 'Euroderby' with AC Milan. The Nerazzurri lose out on the away goals rule.

2005
Roberto Mancini's debut season as Inter coach ends with the club's first trophy in seven years - a 3-0 Coppa Italia final victory over Roma thanks to a brace from Adriano at the Olimpico and a Sinisa Mihajlovic free kick at the Giuseppe Meazza. The Nerazzurri, who finish third in the Serie A and reach the Champions League quarter-finals, lose just three matches in 2004/05. In August Inter lift the Italian Super Cup for the second time in their history with a 1-0 victory over Juventus at Turin's Delle Alpi Stadium. Juan Sebastian Veron scores the winning goal.

2006
In a repeat of the 2005 Coppa Italia final Inter beat Roma over two legs (1-1 at the Olimpico, 3-1 at the Giuseppe Meazza) to retain the trophy. Julio Cruz scores in both matches, with Cambiasso and Martins the other two Nerazzurri players on target. Two months later Inter are officially awarded their 14th Serie A title by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) after a sports tribunal strips Juventus of the Scudetto in the wake of the match-fixing scandal. In the 2006/07 season curtain raiser in August, Inter come back from three goals down to beat Roma 4-3 in extra time at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza and retain the Italian Super Cup

Cambiasso injured again....

not good news for the nerazzuri as i believe he is one of the most important players for inter....with 2 new signings playing in the mid, we are missing the guy who is most acclamated to mancini's system and he is great at linking up/combination plays....plus he runs hard for 90 min which is also nice..
even if he recovers before the expected time, i doubt he'll play the milan derby...
but at least for the derby, we'll have dacourt to replace veron to mess with kaka :p

david pizarro!! lol...you should've stayed

wow....dacourt basically has to play every single game from the beginning of the season until basically mid to end november..that is CRAZY!
and he's 33 years old....

All hail the one and true champs! :D

I don't watch Serie A but from the gazetta highlights show would have me believe that the most important thing in the league right now is Sampdoria not getting a win since February.

However I would say that the Crespo goal is more important though ;) (and you know which goal I'm talking about). Ibra needs to go play for a smaller team and build his confidence back. It's just not happening at the highest level for him. He's the new Martins! :D

the media (in italy) have been suggesting since the season began that 'inter has internal problems...players don't like each other...always some bust up'...
i do believe what moratti has said that there are people in high places in Italy who do not want Inter to succeed and have created this media circus where the only reports in the papers about Inter are bad things...

anyways, pictures are worth 1000 words....i can clearly see the rift within Inter....:p

About Inter, I don't understand how Zlatan gets the nod ahead of Adriano or Julio Cruz. His finishing has never impressed me. He would be a world class winger, but a center forward? Doesn't look like it to me.

ADRIANO GIVEN SEVERAL DAYS OFF
Friday, 20 October 2006 20:40:22

MILAN - In accordance with the coach and the technical staff, the club has decided to give Adriano several days off. Starting from this weekend's trip to Udine, the Brazilian forward will not be at the service of Roberto Mancini. Adriano will undergo a personalised psychophysical recovery programme, to be planned in the coming days.

ah well......the derby is done....inter v fiorentina is done....inter v roma is done....ALL AWAY games as well...

AND WE CONQUERED ALL!

the critics can talk all they want, but slowly, the team is beginning to gel and pick up wins...
they always crying that Inter are in crisis, yet i look at the serie a table and see a team on top, that has beaten all the 'so called' rivals....and still hasn't lost a game in the serie A...

the season is far from over, very far from over....
however, i think the Inter train has started rolling...

i have to congratulate Mancini for making this team full of new faces gel this quickly....
i mean, you look at today's match against Milan, our formation had Maicon, Grosso, Dacourt, Vieira, Crespo and Zlatan; more than half the team are new players....and sadly (for the rest of the competition), the best is yet to come....when cambiasso come's back, i can only see the team playing better and better...

hats off to milan for creating such a great game today...

About Inter, I don't understand how Zlatan gets the nod ahead of Adriano or Julio Cruz. His finishing has never impressed me. He would be a world class winger, but a center forward? Doesn't look like it to me.

Did you see the derby between Milan and Inter? Zlatan actually played in the left wing position the major part of second half.. He did a pretty good job, but I can't understand how you think he would be a better winger than center?

He is tall, heavy, fast, his technique is extra-ordinary in relation to his size, he's also a very good umm.. what do you say. Passer, lol. He makes smart passes, that the other players scores goals on (What word am I looking for? Ahh, help). Anyways, all this makes him an excellent, sort of upgrade of the classic center. You can send a long ball on Zlatan, he will receive and either make his way towards goal on his own (using his technique) or he will control the ball (he is almost impossible to get the ball from) so team mates can join the attack. He also scores a lot of goals, even though he's had some tough times lately.

Anyway, my preferences on a good winger is that they are more quick and agile .. I think Ibra is more of a target player than a winger.

Labfm1
04-11-2006, 02:08 AM
mancini prefers to play zlatan because he is very similar to what mancini was as a player.; a foward who has excellent technique and is good at setting up plays rather than scoring..... of course he has to score a few, but not as much... his great stature and technique allows him to hold up the ball to help bring the midfield into the attack.... excellent player and his best for Inter is yet to come :)

Lol, I heard about that.. I had actually stopped looking, when Cruz made it 2-1 and suddenly I saw on a news site that Zlatan was sent off! Must see the situation to form an opinion.. but I must say he first one was arguable as well. But but.. the ref's in charge!

Whoah10115

Zlatan looked great today (though there's no excuse whatsoever for missing that goal).

But what a goal he scored! Fantastic technicque, balance, concentration, and accuracy. The ball stopped flat when it hit the net.

I would like to see Recoba up there, but he's hurt. I think Zlatan, if he plays like he did today, is gonna be great. He's a very good passer (Would be better if he didn't hog the ball so much). Pair him with Crespo (The best forward in the world right now) and Inter are gonna be a handful for any team.

Oh, and DaCourt. He's solid. And I know Inter have injuries. But why not try that diamond formation again, but with Viera in DaCourt's position, instead of wasting away on the side. Try him, Dejan and Zanetti, with Figo in the hole. Figo was great there earlier this year.

The red card was given because he kicked the ball towards the end of the field in order to waste time of the clock. This is "un-professional" and againsts FIFA regulations. The booking was correct.

Was it intentional? Hence deserved... The ref thought so.

Whoah10115
13-11-2006, 06:13 PM
Agree with that. And he wouldn't shut up the entire match. The Spanish commentator even said "Very good ref. Deserved for a player that was talking inccessantly throughout the match" or osmething like that.

There are reports of Inter's big interest in Messi. Is it a dream, or is there any truth in it?

APPIANO GENTILE - Supervised by technical assistant Fausto Salsano, fitness coach Claudio Gaudino and physiotherapists Sergio Viganò and Marco Della Casa, four players trained at Angelo Moratti Sports Centre this afternoon. Adriano performed aerobic, weight-dragging and technical-athletic exercises; Esteban Cambiasso started with an athletic warm-up before continuing with technique drills with the ball and strengthening exercises; Alvaro Recoba did lower-limb strengthening and cycling; and Francesco Coco did strength-building exercises in the gym followed by uphill walking on the treadmill.

By the way, the Inter match today was sadly one of the dullest matches I've seen for a long time.. was hoping they would put on a better display.

i've realised from watching inter this season that our mentality has changed....

we are becoming a more results oriented team BUT we are not playing defensively....

we are attacking a lot, just not playing a lot off possession football that was characteristic of mancini in his first couple years at Inter....

lol...

i was being cynical..

i dont want Inter to lose at all.....just saying that for Palermo, they have to win to justify dropping all their starters for the UEFA cup...
IMO, they should not have done so...serie a has 25 or so more rounds to go and the result of this game will NOT decide the title....and i actually think they have a GREAT chance to win the UEFA Cup...

i am actually quite confident that Inter can win this game since this year we have been very good against the good teams...
that being said, due to Palermo resting all their players and playing at home, I think Palermo will be coming out fired up and they will be extremely committed so I wouldn't be surprised if Palermo wins..

either way, the game is going to be a cracker and definitely be on par with, if not better than the Milan derby in terms of excitement....

Snore, dull match, failed to live up to the hype. With Simplicio, DiMichele, and a healthy Amauri in the lineup, Palermo could have offered much more.

And yes, Roma are still the hottest team in Serie A because they don't squeak by like Argentinternazionale, but in convincing style.

Stating a contrary opinion of another after a match - not trolling. I've posted in the Juve, Roma, and Inter threads respectfully. I'm not a sore loser, same as I'm not an overbearing winner. Entering a thread solely to flaunt your club - trolling. But feel free, if you feel it is trolling, report it.

Palermo were very uninspiring. Why? Simplicio's suspension as well as several key injuries. Inter has the bench (and $) to support key injuries, Palermo doesn't, at least not yet. I'm hopeful that Palermo and the rest of the south (especially Napoli) will soon reach European competition and bring life to Serie A again.

Not a jab at Inter, or because of Milan's struggles, but this is easily the most boring Serie A season I've ever watched. Aside from the Milan derby and a few other good matches, the league lacks quality with Juve gone and admittedly, a depleted Milan. I'm finding Serie B a lot more interesting at the moment.

And again, if Roma were to face Inter today, Roma would be the winner. I've explained it before - it's not only convincing style, but effective and exciting play. Btw, I don't hate Inter fans, I dislike fans that make disrespectful and ignorant statements.

Of course I am. If the choice is between Inter & Palermo I think we both know what what my answer is. ;)

But about the game, 1st Zlatans goal, WOW and 2d Adriano, I was very impressed, he really did a great job. I thought factory Ibra/Adri wasn't gonna work but I was clearly wrong.

everybody (including you and all you Inter haters) expected Roma to beat Inter....

it was boring to you because Inter effectively shut down Amauri and Palermo's offense while also creating several goal-scoring chances...

YOUR team got shut down and couldn't deal with Inter....
blame Palermo...Inter played a good game today and got the desired result...

When we struggled against reggina, Inter is crap...
when we come against one of the best teams in calcio, go to their home, dominate and win, that is still not good enough for you....
face it, there is nothing Inter can do to get a congratulations from you...

then you go again with "if Palermo had simplicio and di michele"

ignorant prattle directed at "Inter Haters"

Did you even read my post? I conceded why Palermo lost. They were missing important players, don't have a deep bench, and couldn't carry the play. And yeah, Inter played fairly well, but without Palermo's full lineup I don't think it was a fair representation of what it could have been. That's why it was dull.

Adriano played well, and if he wasn't at 100% you still have Crespo and Ibra. When Amauri and DiMichele is injured, Caracciolo is supposed to make the difference? Don't think so. Inter's injuries compared to Palermo's (and the backup available) is hardly comparable.

Enough of this "Inter hater" label, the world does not have a vendetta against you, grow up and stop hiding behind it. "Bla bla bla to all you inter haterz, we won.... We will kick Roma's assss again, we beat you alll at home!!1111!!" I'm not an Inter hater, I just don't like ignorance and rudeness.

point is, you are a sore loser...

i wouldn't go as far as saying Inter dominated Roma... it was a really good game and Inter ended up on top... maybe if it was 2-0 or 3-0 you can say that Roma got owned and Inter dominated.. but that wasn't the case and Roma put up a very good fight.

why would they win now???
they are an inconsistent team....
win against catania, but get DOMINATED and LOSE against shaktar in CL, then win against sampdoria??

Again you're going on about how teams keep dominating Roma.. first of all, if your sense of logic makes any sense, and losing in CL and winning in Serie A means a team is inconsistent, then Inter are the kings of inconsistency. They beat Fiorentina, but they lose to Sporting in September? Then they lose to Bayern, and narrowly beat Chievo? They're following the same pattern as Roma, but let me guess: Roma is the inconsistent team, not Inter..

And don't make Sampdoria seem like a bad team, if i remember correctly, Inter couldn't even manage to beat them, but Roma did.. hmmmm

please...save your excuses for somebody else...
if it was any other team in Inter's place right now, you will not be saying the things you are saying right now...

This is the same for every sport, and every team. The team on top is always gonna get ragged on by the fans of teams who aren't as high up in the standings. If Juve were first place in Serie A, everyone would be saying how they cheated and deserve to be in B, if Palermo were on top people would be saying it's because Serie A is weaker this season, etc.... it's a fact of life, as long as there's someone in 1st place, people will complain and make excuses.. I can't imagine the excuses Inter fans were making while Juve was on top for the past 2 seasons

all I have to say is:

1- Inter struggled against Reggina because Reggina is good, not because Inter is crap

2- The reason Fac1 is mentioning all these "ifs", is because without Cambiasso and Adriano, Inter still have Crespo, Ibra, Cruz, etc.... without Simplicio and Di Michele, Palermo don't have the same kind of backups. If everyone was healthy, Palermo would've benefited. But alas, this is why there's the return leg, and THEN we'll see what happens.

3- I don't see any sore losers in this thread.. All I see is people discussing the game, and some fans taking it too far and making accusations that they can't back up.

The piece about whoever is in first will get the brunt of the criticism is true. Guidolin defends Palermo
Monday 27 November, 2006
Palermo Coach Francesco Guidolin has praised his side’s performance against Inter, despite falling to a 2-1 home defeat.

The Rosanero lost their second straight League game and are now third, six points behind the Nerazzurri, who continue their race towards the Scudetto.

“I believe Palermo played well, it was a balanced game and I didn’t see much difference between the two teams,” said the Coach after the clash at the Stadio Barbera.

“The standings reflect things well, there is an inevitable distance between us and the top clubs.

“I think we proved our value on the pitch but Inter were stronger than us from a physical point of view,” added the former Monaco tactician.

“We started off well, but their early goal threw us off balance and after that everything was harder, although we gave our all until the end.

“I think we lacked some enthusiasm, which could have been useful,” continued Guidolin.

There was controversy though, with the referee failing to miss an apparent foul in the lead up to Patrick Vieira’s winning goal.

“I would prefer not to comment on the referee’s job tonight. I can only say that some decisions definitely did not favour us.

“We are proud of what we have done so far, everyone can have a difficult time, but we will continue to work hard in order to remain near the top,” concluded the boss.

Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini was not at all pleased after his club’s defeat though, lamenting the performance of official Roberto Rosetti and his Coach’s tactics.

“The referee did a very bad job and this is stupid, because the Nerazzurri do not need this kind of presents,” he fumed.

“I was horrified when Rosetti called a foul on Amauri, I think he acted in bad faith. Anyhow, the standings on the table now reflect the clubs’ true values.

“I told Guidolin that I didn’t like the formation because I thought Amauri would not have enough space between Inter’s central defenders – we didn’t even deserve the goal in the first half.”

from channel4..

i actually thought that the ref was pretty decent for this game in letting the game flow and NOT favoring any teams....

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Them leaving doesn't say anything bad about Juve, it just shows their disloyalty to a team who they played for.

Neither of them were getting criticized. Capello LOVED Ibrahimovic, he played him all the time over Del Piero, omg i think he played the most games out of all the strikers last season.

Vieira was in really good form too last season...and uhh, well Ibra didn't do too poorly last season with Juve, how many games did it take him to score a goal this season?

Finally, you make it seem like playing for Juventus is a bad thing...quick recap:

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Them leaving doesn't say anything bad about Juve, it just shows their disloyalty to a team who they played for.

Why would you want to play for a team in Serie B? Lets talk about Capello, Zambrotta, and Cannavaro...I guess they're disloyal too??

Neither of them were getting criticized. Capello LOVED Ibrahimovic, he played him all the time over Del Piero, omg i think he played the most games out of all the strikers last season.

I didnt even say that Capello liked or disliked either one of them. Ibra played a phenomenal season with Juve his first year. And yes just like Adriano he started struggling and was scoring less if not at all. I'm sure you are all gonna say how fond you were of Ibra last season, but I was saying that he was being critisized by Juve fans for not scoring goals.

Vieira was in really good form too last season...and uhh, well Ibra didn't do too poorly last season with Juve, how many games did it take him to score a goal this season?

Just for you information, Ibra scored in his first league game for Inter against Fiorentina. So that would make it 1 game.

Finally, you make it seem like playing for Juventus is a bad thing...quick recap:

I do think its a bad thing to play for a club that has to bribe refs to win games. But since most of the individuals in this thread are Juventus fans then I'm sure you will all disagree.

World Cup Finals, Juventus was the most represented club, with lots of players on Italy and France, and even more ex-players...so shhhh

Oh yea and half of those players that were on that world cup team left to Spain....hmmm

Please don't discredit our win against Palermo with your Juventini bullsh*t. Ibra and Viera are now Inter players and are part of our team. So why don't you go open a Serie B thread and discuss how much better Juve is over there.

excellent game by the nerazzuri today...

we are into the next round of coppa italia again...

especially considering primavera players getting a nod today (maaroufi starting, some others came one), as well as players trying to regain form (cambiasso and adriano) and then the guys who don't get to start....

cambiasso seems to be back on track and is regaining his fitness....
adriano looked good again today and he his definitely on his way back...

in sum, good game, good scoreline, quarterfinals here we come!

can it be another Inter v Roma coppa italia finals for the 3rd year in a row??

that'll be funny...

in the beginning of the season, the team did not gel properly yet...if you watch Inter now, you can see great communication between Vieira and Maicon, Stanko and Ibra, Crespo and Ibra and in general, most of the regular starters are playing very well together...

it will take a couple matches b4 cuchu starts to gel with our new style if play, but it will happen....

have no fear my friend...

Wow, soo many Interisti here!! Hey fellas!! I am really impressed with our current run of form taking into account the injury to Cuchu who is a very important part of our team. Lets hope this form is consistent through out the season because I need to see us do well in Europe too!! Next game against bayern I expect a much better display than what we did in Milan.

Yep, I'm looking forward to the Bayern game.. hopefully it will not be dull because both teams have already secured a place in the next round, but an excellent match over the first place in the group. Should be a great game!

Vic
04-12-2006, 12:28 AM
The game is important guys, not only because the confidence it would provide but because if we win, we will be topping the group which will allow us to play the return leg at home in the round of 16. I wonder how important Mancio thinks this is and wether he will have the record in mind too.

The thing that seems most dangerous about Inter is that they likely have yet to reach their peak.

But why is Figo not playing? Wasn't he their best player last year? He was certainly the best player on the field in the first game this season, playing in a position I can't recall ever seeing him play. And then he didn't play the next two matches and three of the next four. He's only started seven games. I just don't get it. Stankovich started playing great, started scoring, then started playing deeper. Yesterday, with Cambiasso back and not coming up to attack too often, he still played deep. Why? With Viera and Cambiasso that's not what Inter needs. Play Figo or sell him now. Just a waste of a guy who's at the end of his career.

Vic
04-12-2006, 04:10 AM
Every game is different and you have to recall that Figo is not young any more so he requires alot more rest than the rest. Bear in mind Figo has not had too many impressive games as he tends to dive rather than make the easy pass very often.

Cuchu is coming back so you will probably see Figo a bit less barring injuries to others.

Whoah10115
04-12-2006, 04:59 AM
True. His fitness is diminished. But in that case it's not worth wasting that rest on the 10min of action he got yesterday.

Nerazzurri4life
04-12-2006, 05:21 AM
I think that Inter are already trying to adapt to life without figo....

the guy is already 35...not much in those legs...

we need our players to play in a system that is not figo dependent, as was last year (figo and veron dependent)..

Whoah10115
04-12-2006, 06:28 AM
That's true also. But this is only his second season there. I think it'd be smart to get something out of him, without having him be the focal point of the offense.

I wonder where he'll go. Will he go to MLS after this season? He's 34 already (Not 35 haha). He's already said he has one or two years left. I guess he will go to MLS.

i guess at this point, it technically doesn't matter...

top teams are finishing 1st and 2nd...
if we finished 1st, we could get drawn Real, Barca
if we finished 2nd, we could get drawn Chelsea or Lyon...
either way, hard fuckin games..and i haven't even considered liverpool are 1st and ManU or Arsenal could finish 2nd as well...

and since we are already qualified, i guess resting some players as well as focusing on the league makes more sense....

we have an away trip this weekend and i think Mancini and Inter are really trying to focus on winning the league and keep the consistency...Roma is still right on our ass as they have also started to be consistent, so now is not the time to play around in the league..

its about priority and meeting our goals...qualified for knockout in CL, qualified for knockout in Coppa Italia, now its to maintain our pace at the top of the serie A

good thing is, we can't draw barca....

i am really afraid of barca..and maybe lyon
i think inter suffers against teams that play wide in attacking....

that said, looking at the teams, liverpool or valencia will be best suited for us...
arsenal to some extent...

all the arsenal fans like to talk about beating us 5-1 but they intentionally left out that we beat them with an 18 year old Martins 3-0 at highbury as well..

i think our attack will create lots of problems for arsenal and liverpool....ibra can cause lots of damage and crespo is just crespo...adriano should be back in full effect next february as well...

tbh, it all depends on the health of the team...if we get cambiasso back to full strength, and vieira playing like he is now, it will be pretty difficult to beat us..

ronaldo has not played shit in any of the games i've seen....

spoilers from empoli v inter.....

inter played real SHIT today....real bad...especially in the first half..
but still....3-0 victory :)
well done by the boys, keeping the pressure on roma after palermo also won on saturday....

on normal circumstances, this would be a normal victory, but because empoli's coach likes to talk shit about Inter right b4 the game (it seems this is the trend for every opposing coach now), i dedicate this victory for him.....STFU!! hahaha

today we sorely missed vieira and maicon....SORELY!
burdisso was solid in defense today and his few runs forward were fruitful..
cambiasso is still not 100% and it is evident by the lethargy in his game...normally he is quick passer, moves quickly and makes good decisions quickly...
grosso is looking pretty ordinary to me...maxwell is progressing quite well and given the fact he is more technically gifted than grosso, maybe next year maxwell will get the nod (i hope so)..
zanetti was the usual, playing in any position, this guy gives 200%...
stanko was ordinary..
solari was bad..
recoba did well when he came on, and i like the idea of recoba playing in the "kaka" position, of course, not to kaka efficiency, but good enough..
zlatan was ok but he misses and gives away the ball too much...should have had 3 goals today...
crespo was also ordinary..
i don't like how mancini puts adriano to play wide right when he puts him in...doesn't make sense..

in all, i am pleased that we squeezed out a victory (despite the scoreline, it was tight for almost 60min) while playing badly...
definitely not like other years, when we paid the price for playing bad....

good luck roma this afternoon..i will be watching that game and hopes that it is a cracker....hope totti starts...

to be honest, i don't care about the size of the gap...
all i care about is next May, Inter is on top....and wins the scudetto...

it could be by 1 pt and i wouldn't give a flying f#$k...
once we win :D

7pts seems like a cushion, but i dont want the team to think that way...it is better to think as though one loss or a draw will make u 2nd, thus driving the team to play hard every round...

we have some really tough games against lazio and atalanta back to back, especially atalanta, who are in top form right now and they create loads of chances and score a lot of goals...

roma have palermo next week as well, so hopefully, they'll drop some more, or better yet, the game will end in a tie, making both of them drop off the pace..

then after the christmas break, we need to get back in top condition quickly, as we have fiorentina, sampdoria then roma...i think that'll be a crucial point in our scudetto campaign...

Ibrahimovic should've had a hat-trick in the Emploi game . First the header which hit the bar, then the goal and third the one on one he had off that quickly taken free kick. Too bad he didn't put some more in.. and he stills gives away too many balls, but he's beginning to show the form he had a couple of years ago.

Yeah I get what you mean mate. Is just that you never know if our Interismi disease will kick in this season where we choke even on water. Is just that having the game will act as an insurance in case something goes wrong.

Yeah having Atalanta on probably their most impressive season in a while challenging Milan and not an easy side to push off and same with our bogey team, LAZIO.

If one point wins us the scudetto I'll take it any day too!!!

About Ibra. I think a lot of people think that because the incident which happend while they were Juveplayers. What was it again? I think they had a fight at one of their trainings.
But Zlatan seems like the guy that easily forgive and forget. I mean his coach Sinisa said some awful things about his family two years ago and the whole thing ended up with Ibra headbutt Sinisa. And then he got suspended. But they seem to be best friends now. Same thing with Matrix, he injured Ibra before, today they are best friends. 2 - I don't usually call people that are big enough to admit to their club's on wrong-doings as "not knowing much". It's called being objective and unbiased.

I call them the flip-flops that probably now support Inter FFS.

No, far from me. I'm into writing and journalism. You must mean "you're", feel free to use that in the future.

Another example of sidestepping claims that you can't refute. But I'll indulge you, nonetheless. - 8 vs. -30/-19/-11 + Serie B + shame of the nation, hmm... difficult decision...

Blind devotion to one's club, that's something to be real proud of! When you can shed your bias, maybe we can talk. And good job throwing in the Inter remark, keeping it relevant to the thread? Grow up and stop trying to incite flame wars.

Andreolli will likely start with Nico in the defence, who would have thought that would eventuate in Serie A.

Adding to the discussion, Phat JuBe ashamed Italy and harmed football as a sport, clubs that are managed like that are not needed in our beautiful game and mistakes should not be always one way! Referees did not just have a complex wich forced them to favour JuBE, the system in place put them ahead of the game and as a result bad publicity of the league has been fuelled.

Please think about what the calciopoli scandal has done!! If you love your club more than the game you are in the wrong foot!

in Inter related news:

we are severely depleted in the defense tomorrow against a very attack-minded atalanta side....

no materazzi, cordoba, or samuel...means we are down to our last 2, burdisso and young andreolli...
to be fair, andreolli did really well in the CL game against a full strength Bayern with 2 top class strikers...so hopefully, everything will turn out well tomorrow...

adriano looks to be starting with ibra out....
i think the midfield may be the same...depends on vieira's condition....

cambiasso is starting to get back into form....looked really good in our last 2 games defensively and in distributing the ball...too bad we're going into a break but i guess it is important for us to recover players like cordoba and dacourt...

hoping for our 12th straight victory 2morrow...end off an already good season start with another victory....

Nerazzuri4life, Do you think J.Zanetti will play at the back with all the probs we have there? just wondering who would get the nod out of Chino and Adriano. Lets just hope he breaks his duck in this one and maybe we can see something close to the real Adriano.

Maxwell has done well in the last few games but he seems to be a little slack about defending would you agree, his lack of urgency when defendign can cost us now that we may play Andreolli due to suspensions and injuries.

zanetti won't play central defense...it'll definitely be andreolli at right center back and burdisso at left center back...

zanetti will play his new left midfield position (in which he is excelling at as well)...

i think mancini is set on the 4-3-1-2 formation and if things are not working out during the game, the attacking midfield player just moves sorta wide....

maxwell is very good technically, which is why, once he gets better defensively, he will start over grosso....

grosso has been disappointing but that was kinda expected by me, since he flourishes in a counter-attack system which Inter do NOT PLAY (similar to why cesar and kily gonzalez never really worked out)

if you remember, maicon also made few mistakes defensively early on in the season, but mancini stuck with him because of his talent offensively and we all see now how well he has been grooming......he can still be better defensively, but he is improving consistently....
i expect the same for maxwell...mancini would continue to play him until he gets better defensively....remember, maxwell has probably played max. 4 or 5 games this season...

plus, grosso is already 29 going on 30, whereas maxwell is 25...maicon is also 25/26, so young, quick, technically gifted wing backs are perfect for the mancini system.....

i am aslo hoping for adriano to start + score tomorrow...he has been playing well with the limited time he has gotten....i think if he doesn't think about scoring, he will.....it's real tough and a real awkward situation for him and i know psychologically, it is really affecting him....

scoring in the san siro tomorrow would be the icing on the cake for Inter this year and a perfect christmas present for adri...imagine we did all this this season without an in form adri...imagine when he does get back to form...

good luck tomorrow....

12th in row.....please??

Well, for once Nerazzuri4life is right.Keep the shit about other teams where they should be.

I have to admit Inter have been impressive so far.Beating Palermo and Roma away, and now even Lazio this is so unlike Inter(:D ) but, fair play to them, they deserve to be at the top.;)

But as we know in Serie A the league leaders usually drop points after the Christmas break, so we'll see if Inter finally got what it takes to win the Scudetto.;)

FORZA INTER!!!

Nerazurri4life, yeah I agree that Maxwell is gifted technically and I can see him being our left full back or even lef winger when we revert to 442. I still think Maico has some room for improvement but so does everyone and lets hope they keep it up as the team is very confident so it can rub off onto Maxwell and make him superb.

I hope that Chino comes on in the second half, good memories of him comming in the second half against Atalanta. Remember 2001, 2-0 down and we won 2-4!! All Chinos work.

we won!! and as i hoped, adriano scored...his excitement after scoring was simply gratifying....i know he was tired and frustrated...
end of a good year for inter and was capped off properly with adriano scoring...

the ref in this game was a complete jackass in the 1st half.....horrible...
credit to atalanta for trying to bully inter and got the approval of the ref...

however, unlike years before, we don't complain about the ref...we go and fight and play hard...well deserved victory boys...hope to come back next year with a full squad....

congrats to roma as well for staying competitive and playing a real high level of quality football....i expect them to do really well in th CL..

also congrats to ac milan for finally picking up some form and winning games now....it'll make the next derby game really enticing...

The rumour has it that Moratti is trying to urge Figo to stay, the other option Inter have available is the purchase of Beckham, but Moratti says he isnt as good as Figo, so he is trying to keep him!

Figo has been influential as a sub, be a shame to see him go.

Adriano is getting back to form slowly but surely and it seems like he is commiting himself more and more to Inter after thanking the fans, Moratti and Mancini for there time and patience with him :)

Adriano, Ibrahimovic up front and both on form *feels sorry for serie A*

Mancini set for June exit
http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/jan12e.html
Roma midfielder Amantino Mancini is reportedly set for a summer exit because of an alleged rift with teammate Francesco Totti.

The Brazilian is contracted to the capital club until June 2009, but he is said to be keen on an exit at the end of the season.

Mancini and Totti are understood to not be on great terms and friction between the pair was evident during Wednesday’s Coppa Italia win over Parma.

Despite both scoring in the tie, they failed to join each other in celebration which seemed to confirm that not everything is quite right between the star duo.

The Gazzetta dello Sport argues that there are a number of reasons which have led to the current situation, including the fact that the Brazilian was one of Antonio Cassano’s ‘supporters’ when the Bari-born striker played in Rome.

Furthermore, Roma have yet to deliver an increase in salary which was promised to the wide man – who joined in 2003 – 18 months ago.

Inter are favoured in the chase for the 26-year-old seeing as they apparently already have an option on him should he leave the Olimpico.

The Nerazzurri grabbed that agreement during talks which took playmaker David Pizarro to Roma in the summer.

Mancini is valued at £14m and could land at the San Siro in a player plus cash deal including former Roma stopper Walter Samuel, who is also a reported target for Juventus.

i really don't think roma would sell him because he is the 2nd most important player for roma....

that being said, it would be GREAT if Inter can get him for next season...with figo gone, we need a right winger...we all know he efficient mancini is on the right/left wing and he has been wanted by inter for a loooooooooooooooong time....

ideally, i would like messi/c.ronaldo, but thats not gonna happen, so i definitely wouldn't mind getting mancini...

i wonder if the pizarro deal last summer could pave the way for this deal to come through..

There are been rumors for while that Mancini and Totti have some problems. It would be very sad to see him leaving but looking at current things it might happen. But there are some months left and maybe they can put they're differences aside and be friends again.

Not a Roma thread but what the heck.

ummmm...not really...race is never over until the fat lady sings :p

i WISH the race would be over, but i know it isn't....football is too much of an unpredictable sport...

that said, i think the Inter v Roma game in 3 weeks will be huge...if the points differential remains the same (hopefully more :p ), then it will put extreme pressure on Roma to win...

we'll see what happens.....i'm just glad my team is silencing all the critics...

we are playing solid, consistent football with moments of flair to entertain the fans :D
the defense has been extremely good, cesar has been exceptional and we have the ability to play any type of football, whether it be possession or counter-attack.....
players like stankovic, zanetti and vieira have been extremely consistent and solid in the middle....
maicon has been a revelation; maxwell is also turning into a great left back (sorry grosso..lost your spot)
and our strikers have all played well and scored...

lol..as i am writing, i remembered certain members of this forum calling Inter funny names like real argentina e.t.c...
lets examine the starting lineup....

cesar (brazil)
maicon (brazil)
burdisso/cordoba (argentina/colombia)
materazzi (italian)
maxwell (brazil)
vieira (france)
stanko (serb)
zanetti (argentina)

if you go by the starting lineup for today, then sure. But say it was the starting lineup of 2 or 3 games ago. You would then have Solari(arg), Crespo(arg), Cambiasso(arg), Samuel(arg.)....not to mention other players on the bench and the regular starters. Believe me, there are far more argies on this team than probably even italians. :p
Javiar Zanetti even bought his own restaruant a few years back, in Milan, and decked it out so that it looked authenticly argentinian, so that him and his friends and players would have a place to hang out that was just like home. I thought that was pretty cool. :) I think its called "Gouchos" or something...

Wow, what a goal by grosso that was!

You know, back in the day when I just started watching football I picked a team from almost every league and 'supported' them or shall I say I hoped they win something. They were Celtic, Liverpool, Barca, PSG and Inter.
Nowadays I only support 'pool, but anywhoo, look where they are now - Celtic is winnin it e'ry year I think. Barca has come out of the shadow of Madrid and finally wins trophies, Liverpool won the Champions League, which is one of the most memorable moments in my football history dating back to '98 & just today seeing that You guys are on top of Your league by a sound margin:)

Good luck guys! and I hope You win many trophies on years to come (except for the CL of course, which we shall win instead :))

dude...you are a very bitter person...
its very sad indeed....

it seems as though u don't know the rules about football...

1. it was an indirect freekick; hence the reason zlatan faked over and stankovic touched it on to adriano..

2. Offside only counts when the players who are in an "offside position" interfere with the play; CLEARLY, nobody was interfering with the play...

i realize what it is...u hate inter so much...it is hurting you to see them win, beat teams consistently and that they are 11 points ahead on the table...

Exactly, they are interfering with Frey, hence they become part of the play making their position offside.... SO YOU STFU. LEARN THE FUCKING GAME. Anyone that looks at the tape can see it. I can understand the ref making a mistake...

Exactly, they are interfering with Frey, hence they become part of the play making their position offside.... SO YOU STFU. LEARN THE FUCKING GAME. Anyone that looks at the tape can see it. I can understand the ref making a mistake...

this guy doesn't have a clue about the sport...

Lucky I can't neg rep you.

lucky???
dude, grow up

Neg reps who cares about them. As long as forum rules are follwed I have no nothing to worry about in here.

Phat What I meant from the direct shot is that Zlatan off loaded and Adriano had a direct shot on goal and your point about the offside is ridiculous so anyone obstructing Frey's vision is imediately offside!! Mate just remeber that football is to enjoy and discuss not to develop hatred as you have been doing so not just for Inger but Milan too.

We really need to transfoprm this form to the Cl as well so it shuts people up once and for all!!! Forza ragazzi, andiamo INTER!!

Tbh phat, you shouldnt come onto a Inter Milan thread and "slag" us off. There is no need for it mate, Inter Milan are currently higher in points than Juventus were at this stage of last season - Even if the old lady had beat us twice this season, we'd still be ahead in points.

The "Inter-Fans" of these forums dont go onto other threads and "slag" there teams off, or cause disruption. Im very disapointed in you.

Us as Inter fans are proud of what our club has achieved so far this season, and we are just showing are happiness. Now please, be nice.

You guys are pathetic. I never said anything bad about Inter in the original post. All I said is that they were in an offside position and if you watch the replay they are interfering with the shot WHICH = OFFSIDES

The ref makes the decisions, the tape tells the truth. Thats all I'm saying. I actually said positive things about the match.

You guys bring in Juve and Serie B which is completely OFF TOPIC . I, on the under hand was sticking to INTER and their match with Viola.

anyone mind telling me some worthy stats or facts that can help me actually defend my favourite club!?!?? :P
We were watching the inter - Fio game before we played soccer and i didnt see the end, was it good? and while we were wacthing it everyone is like ohhh inter dives, oooh typical italians, oohh manU can beat these guys no problem...

Inter has been one of the most succesful clubs in the history of Italian football, having won 14 Scudetti, 5 Coppa Italia, and 3 Italian Super Cups. Inter has also won 2 European Cups(Champions League), 3 UEFA Cups, and has been World Champions two times. In Italy, Inter also has the distinction of being the only team to never be relegated from Serie A.

Current holders of the Italian Cup, Super Cup(2nd yr in a row) and Serie A.

Last 16 Champions League, top of league by 11 points... What more do u want?

Of course your mates are going to slag us off, its what football fans do, its called jealousy mate :)

hmmm....

lets analyze the video carefully...

1. 2 inter players are behind the wall on the right side of adriano...
2. the shot goes to the left...hence not in the direction of the players.
3. the players never obstructed frey's view of the ball.
4. the players did not attempt to make a play on the ball.

strangely enough, no match reports on any football website thinks this a controversial goal....

Adriano has recovered sufficiently from his goal-scoring slump to earn an international call-up. Ronaldinho, Kaka, Robinho and Diego also made the cut for Brazil.
Adriano Gets Brazil Call For Portugal Friendly

Adriano went nine months without scoring a goal before erupting the past month for club side Inter with four goals in his team's past five games.

The Brazilian marksman was on the scoresheet once again at the weekend for the Serie A leaders in a 3-1 win over Fiorentina, and now "the Emperor" has been called up for Brazil's February 6 friendly match with World Cup semifinalists Portugal in London at the Emirates Stadium.

"He has been through a troubled time but he is getting back on the right path again and this is a way of giving him some more incentive," said Brazil's manager, Dunga.

"Each player has to win his place in the team."

Portugal won the last encounter 2-1, but that was four years ago.

Adriano will be joined for the match by Inter teammate Maicon. Barcelona ace Ronaldinho and AC Milan star Kaka also have been named to Dunga's 22-man roster. All of the players are European-based.

Brazil's Roster For Portugal Friendly

GK: Julio Cesar (Inter Milan), Helton (Porto)

DF: Adriano Correia (Sevilla), Alex Rodrigo (PSV Eindhoven), Daniel Alves (Sevilla), Gilberto (Hertha Berlin), Juan (Bayer Leverkusen), Lucio (Bayern Munich), Luisao (Benfica), Maicon (Inter Milan)

MF: Diego (Werder Bremen), Dudu Cearense (CSKA Moscow), Edmilson (Barcelona), Elano (Shakhtar Donetsk), Gilberto Silva (Arsenal), Kaka (AC Milan), Tinga (Borussia Dortmund)

FW: Adriano (Inter Milan), Fred (Olympique Lyon), Rafael Sobis (Betis), Robinho (Real Madrid), Ronaldinho (Barcelona)

glad to see adriano being recalled....just action for the hard work he has put in...

i see this as more motivation to get adriano back to full form....

I don't think enough of a case can be made against the fractionally offside players. They didn't interfere with the play, from what I've seen. Fair goal.

I'm getting bored of Roma, I think I want to see us beat Milan again. It's always nice seeing them lose.

We may as well give them a 3 goal head start for the final as well, seeing as they'll just choke again. :D

I wasn't looking at this as an argue, more of a clubrivalry tease, but then tifoso-inter choose to get personal and say things about me personally, I guess that's what you do when you don't have anything more to say about the subject.

Hey tifoso-inter
If you're really coming to Stockholm I'll hope you'll have a great time, this is a beautiful city and there are a lot of things to see.
About the other part, how is being satisfied by an interista? He rocks your world, but then again you'll have to wait 20 years for that to happend again? Something like that maybe?
