View Full Version : The League table

Just had a wee look at the league table, very interesting stuff. The leaders have won just 2 from 6 games, an amazingly tight table, hope it stays like that till the end of the season!

You don't see that anywhere else (think Lyon, Chelsea, Ajax).

yep, bundesliga has gone crazy, 5 points difference between cl-places and relegation  cant remember the last time the league was that close together after 6 games

but thats the only good thing about our fucked up start into the season, at the moment we are almost at the end of the table but we still have all chances if we manage to start a winning streak :)

most teams are starting slow, especially the teams that have been more successful of late & are stocked with international players.
Then there's HSV, my god, what has happened to them?

ugh
11-10-2006, 05:13 AM
I think HSV has good players but they changed the whole team with many new players and they yet have to form a team.
FC Bayern as well.

Werder also had problems, only their last two matches (Barca and Mönchengladbach) showed some quality and a real team on the pitch.

it`s still too early to decide if any of the other teams have real chances of staying in CL range (top 3 finishers) during the season.

bayern have had their fair share of problems. going into this season i knew it would be a fight to the finish and its certainly shaping up to be one.

So far, this season stays really interesting. If Stuttgart win today, they can take the first place, who would have thought that.

VOIN

it would be desirable that б Shtutgart lost. Because then Werder will save the first place

But Stuttgart didn't lose and we are in second place.

I think that Werder will gain the lead, the second will be Shtutgart, and third Shal'ke

ugh

Now Schalke has taken the lead and Bayern is collecting points as well while Werder seems on a low.
Very interesting season so far. Hopefully Werder and Stuttgart regain their strength soon.

i dont know why i find hamburg's failures funny but to me it is. for competitions sake i hope they can get it together in the second half. they have quality no doubt but it seems that missing piece in the hamburg puzzle is the need for a goal scorer.

There was a quiet rumbling this year, like the sound of 2 big rocks moving slowly :p
Werder made it on spot 2 of the eternal league table and passed the HSV.

In my eyes they should fire Beiersdorfer asap, the man who made the transfers.
Hey, maybe theyll buy Mo Zidan. Werder`s Co-coach W. Rolff said yesterday that they want to split with him and Andreasen.

Doll and Beiersdorfer have now been confirmed to stay in their positions at HSV.

IMO, HSV will do just fine once their players can actually play instead of be injured or being banned for red cards.

Last matches they had like 9 regular players not being able to play and used people from their youth and amateur teams to fill up the roster...

it's a cruel thriller and it's great my team is in the middle of the action :)

here some data, it's always the 15. place at the last game day, starting with the 2005/2006 season, the last numbers are the points.

15. (15.) VfL Wolfsburg 34 7 13 14 33:55 -22 34
15. (15.) Borussia M'gladbach 34 8 12 14 35:51 -16 36
15. (15.) 1. FC K'lautern 34 11 6 17 39:62 -23 36
15. (15.) Bayer Leverkusen 34 11 7 16 47:56 -9 40
15. (15.) 1. FC Nürnberg 34 10 4 20 34:57 -23 34
15. (14.) VfB Stuttgart 34 9 11 14 42:49 -7 38
15. (15.) Hansa Rostock 34 8 14 12 44:60 -16 38
15. (16.) Eintracht Frankfurt 34 9 10 15 44:54 -10 37  :D

The Bundesliga table is still fairly tight, with anyone able to pull out of relegation fairly quickly. Look at the gap between seventh and seventeenth: just five points. The top four are separated only by six points, with Leverkusen and Nurnberg in the middle, not far behind. This is why I love the league; any team can beat any team, and matches and seasons aren't decided by which club has more money.

Just imagine Dortmund and Mönchengladbach going down and St. Pauli and Düsseldorf going up from third division.

Being located in Cologne, these are great prospects. So many derbys and such great teams with a history and great fans:)

I think we have teh hardest to come, because if Golfsburg isnt winning against Aachen, then its winning against Werder or going down to 2nd League.
I dont see Dortmund as a hard challenge atm, who should score for them ? Wheelchair-Frei (hes ready for surgery) or Nelson "the blind man" Valdez ? Or little Smolarek against Krastajic or Bordon ? For Bielefeld the season is already over, theyre safe now and they have nothing to win maybe except of injuries.
Stuttgart plays Cottbus, they already played VERY VERY lousy against H96 last weekend because for them its the same as for Bielefeld or Bochum, which is Stuttgarts last opponent, they have nothing to or lose.
Even if Schalke struggles, Stuttgart will be there :(
My personal bet for the title: S04 - 60 %/ VFB - 35%/ Werder - 5%
Yes we playd the best football in Germany but the others had no international burden and thats probably one of the main reasons why it is like it is now, but we lost the very good chances with some extraordinary bad perfomances during the 2nd half of the season.

There was some real quality in the team and with almost every member of the squad staying and great players like Bastuerk coming in they might play some good part in the next season as well.

Wishful thinking... With all this changes to their squad they should be happy to get anything at all. Building great squads is all about evolution not revolution. Bayern has failed in this in all areas...

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to swede405963 again.

2001 is a little reminder for this jackass, a year United fans conveniently ignore.

I don't believe there is any qualifying stage for the UEFA Cup; Bayern and Bayer are going straight into it, along with Aachen, I believe. Yes, we will see a club from the Bundesliga's second division competing in the UEFA Cup next year. That should be exciting.
Why Alemannia Aachen? They didn't get a UEFA Cup spot neither on the championship, nor in the DFB Cup. The team that will play in european cometitions next season:
CL: Stuttgart, Schalke and Werder in 3rd qualifying round
UEFA Cup: Bayern, Leverkusen and Nurnberg as finalist in DFB Pokal
Intertotto: Hamburg

We have solid teams competing and i hope for a good country coefficient.

I could have sworn I saw Aachen 4-2 Bayern in one of the Cup finals recently. Was I dreaming?

Edit: Now I see that they eliminated us from the quarters last season, 4-2. That's what I was thinking of. Es tut mir leid.

Apparently (http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/6842042) we are targeting Robin van Persie. Sounds like a good player for us.

And for 8 mil £ ? They are just joking with you ace.

I know it's overpaying, but compared to the Hargreaves transfer, that's chump change.

Foxsports has quite the problem with rumors, though. The instant they hear a player's name and a club in the same sentence, they write an article about a potential signing.

At least their information is fairly accurate, though; they don't claim Pizarro scores thirty goals a season on a consistent basis.

I know it's overpaying, but compared to the Hargreaves transfer, that's chump change...

He has a 2011 contract and he is one of the biggest talents in the premier league. 8 million would be not even close to make it tasty for Arsenal.

you are right mambo, 8m is very cheap for a player of his caliber

Actually Mambo, you're right. The reason RVP seems like he hasn't done anything this year is because of his long term injury. He has scored some beautiful goals (against Charlton) and some big ones when they need one (Man U). He's no slouch at set pieces, either...we need someone who can take a good shot off a free kick. Sagnol can provide good services, but we don't often get direct goals, which are quite important. But now, I am rambling on about Bayern's shortcomings.

This is actually not the right topic to discuss this in, so let us move it elsewhere.

Yeah, because the fans expected more from them and it's normal they were the big dissapointments of the season.
