INTERVIEW WITH MONNE
INTRO:
Hello Monne and MC Monne... thank you for doing this!
no problem, always prepared to please the maxxed-community
what the fuck do you want ?
Actually I would like to start with Monne, if you don't mind MC?
no prob nigga, i got 4 girls waitin' here 2 do auditioning, i'll work on them first
PERSONAL
So Monne'
You have build quite a reputation on this site and have slowly matured into a solid member of the community... what makes you come back to this place every day?
well is it me that has the reputation, or is the mc monne? that remains to be seen this will sound cliché, but what makes me come back everyday is the community, nothing better than talking to gooners and sensing some nice piece of manc-bias tbh: it's basically the only site i visit every day.
The community is overall (apart from some occasional incidents) very peaceful, and I'm not used to that
So you like Peace and quiet?
well overall yes, but sometimes when you had a bad day at the office (read: school) it can also be entertaining to see some irritations, so you know life after all ain't that bad
nah i like it rough, gunfire, ... that's my shit
Cool... so next question MONNE(!)
What's your favorite past time activities? Other than abusing the Internet...
Recently i picked up playing football, been out with knee injuries for 5 years. Now i made it to the school team. My reputation as the Kolo of the team is rising. I'm also very much into music (long live last.fm!), hardly anything better than catching a good gig. If there's no gig in town/country I'm always in for a drink in a pub (no clubs please!)
But over the past year i think much of my time was spent on my good friend MC Monne.
Would you describe yourself as sensitive?
very
In fact i was elected as "most sensitive guy" during last year's blackbox in Copenhagen, though i prolly shouldn't say that.
How is Monne with the ladies? Ruthless like the MC or more of a romantic type?
Monne + the ladies, wow where to start?
He is the opposite of MC Monne i think.
Definitely more romantic than MC Monne, though that's hardly a merit
I could tell you all about it off the record of course
Nah... never mind ;)
Favorite TV-show?
All time: McGyver, the man's a genius!
Current: mostly Belgian shows you guys never heard about (Willy's en Marjetten, Neveneffecten, ...)
Internationally speaking i watch the clichés: 24, prison break, lost, ...
People keep telling me i should check out Family Guy, but i always forget about it.
Oh, and MOTD, obviously
Yeah... about football. You support Arsenal, but not any Belgian team? How is that?
Well, Belgian football is a big farce. I go watch a team called Lierse every week though. The currently are rock bottom in first division, i think 10 points clear. Thank god i get payed to go watch them (read: i work there). From the big teams i only have sympathy for Standard, probably because the got trashed by Arsenal 7-1 i think.
Only Belgian team i really support is KFC Sint-Lenaarts, my local side. We're currently in the 5th league, we're 9 points clear at the top. So maybe next year we'll play nationwide! It's also the team i played 9 years. And it's MC Monne's team as well, if you look closely to the message on his trucker-cap, yellow-green are the colors as well,
Who is, in your opinion, the best Belgian player in recent time? Enzo Scifo, Luc Nilis... ? Jean-Marie Pfaff? Michel Preud'homme?
It would probably be one of the players of the Mexico '86 squad. In the semi's against Argentina we were called off-side incorrectly twice. I was only 1 yr back then, so can't judge on that.
From what i've seen: currently very impressed by Francois Sterchele, a striker at GBA. Played in 3th division 2 years ago. Hardly misses a chance. Sorry to bring it to you, but Kompany is overrated from what I have seen.
Van Buyten gets a lot of praise internationally, but he has never performed well for Belgium unfortunately Now, finally after Pfaff and Preud'homme we have a new very bright GK: Logan Bailly (named after Johnny Logan!). He's the key factor to Racing Genk being top of the table.
I think he's only 23, you'll hear from him!
Do you remember the picture from 86 with Pfaff flying in the air?
Yeah. On our national television there currently is a 4-parts documentary of Mexico '86. Very nice to watch, and it's my first real chance to relive it. Shame Pfaff has fallen so deep. Nowadays he is a walking adboard, has his own TV-soap, ...
If only we had a GK like him now (our national coach doesn't select Bailly because he was coach of Genk, at least that's my theory)
So two world class keepers from a small country like Belgium... pretty impressive.
Do you think Preud'homme deserved the World Cup Yashin Award in 1994
oh i remember USA '94 much better. Preud'homme was very impressive in that tournament. Made many flying saves like Pfaff did 8 years earlier. If it wasn't for that referee who didn't give us a clear penalty against Germany, there is no way of telling what would have happened. We could have relived '86, who's to say ... Also in '02 we got robbed of a goal against Brazil by Wilmots.
so in the end it's good we missed the tournaments in '04, '06, and will miss them in '08 and '10, it would only lead to more drama
So what got you supporting L'Arsenal?
Well, i always had much respect for them since they bought Bergkamp. Henry added up to the feeling. But i think "it" really happened 5 years ago, when i first visited London. Really liked the atmosphere round old Highbury. Haven't seen the completed Ashburton Grove yet, so I'll have to go there this summer to check the atmosphere round there.
What's your favorite dish of food?
That'd had to be chips/French Fries (should be called Belgian Fries as we believe) with what we call Stoofvlees (http://www.thuisbereid.be/images/gerechten/rundstoofvlees.jpg). It's something like goulash, but less spicy, a joy for the mouth. it are cubes of veal, in a brown sauce.
Also i never turn down a good traditional pizza
cats or dogs?
Cats because they are low maintenance, dogs for company. Had a cat, have a dog. Both have their (dis)advantages. As long there is an animal in the house it's all good for me.
Blondes or brunettes?
Depends on the whole package really. Though i think i fancy brunettes more. But if the hair color doesn't match the face i can't defend it ;)
Have to look at each case individually to be the judge.
Fat Elvis or Thin Elvis?
i never understood this question in the previous interviews, so i would go for fat Elvis as it sounds funnier.
What kind of music do you listen to?
http://www.last.fm/user/Monne1985/ should give you the best info. I'm mostly into alternative rock, indie, ...At the moment I absolutely love "I'm from Barcelona" and Tilly & the Wall (thanks AGAIN for that hint GaGa!, i will see them live in April, hardly can wait)
Would be cruel to mention other bands, as i'm sure i would forget too many.
Favorite movie of all time?
Memento, no doubt. Think i watched it 10 times. Runner up is Team America, top class!
what's your favorite sites beside FBTZ?
www.mc-monne.be , oink, last.fm, site of my school (i really am a dull bastard), all kind of fotologs, site of my local football team, ...
FBTZ
Best thread on FBTZ?
Oh hard, so many good ones.
Top 3?
It probably won't be one from the cappers sections, i hardly visit these
so, the Arsenal thread, any topic where mancs jump in energetically to defend their team, many topics in mediaroom
If you were invisible for a day, what MFF'er would you follow around?
Maybe Silas, to waste the power of being invisible. But I think following you (Bruun) would be interesting as well, sounds top material from the stories you post round here. If i would stay visible, I would love to spend a day or probably longer with GaGaGooner, he's the man round here!
Favorite smiley on FBTZ?
 as so many misinterpretations are born by using it
Favorite moderator?
Nobuzz for inviting me to oink and Johnstun for his cool in the ManUtd thread in the beginning of January.
Do you think that you should become a moderator?
NO. I used to be a global moderator at a warez forum, and it would take too much of my time taking up moderating again (not that i think i would be a suitable mod for fbtz) Having been there makes it so much easier to respect the mods.
Has FBTZ.com changed your life?
definitely, it has changed my surfing life from browsing 20+ pages to narrowing it down to 10pages max, to optimize surfing time on maxxed.
Have you ever met up with a user from fbtz?
Not yet. Don't think there are many active members from Belgium. Missed a good chance last year when i was in Copenhagen.
i certainly wouldn't mind meeting a couple of the members
Funniest member of MFF?
It would be found cheeky to choose myself, so i think i'd have to go for the big Dane or Mr monkey
If you were MaXxed for a day, would you change anything about the forum? (Sections, rules, features)
Maybe ban someone :-O
Looking at the suggestions section all seems to be working great, nothing really bothers me. I wouldn't mind certain bans though :)
