I must say that Real Madrid let a great player go at an early age ... and with all the problems they have had until recently with DMs, I'm surprised that they didn't turn to him.
Rivera is a warrior in midfield ... chasing everyone and everything near him, but he is much more than that. He is the pivot to generate the start of attack, always clean balls ... one touch panorama of the field. And must add that he arrives by surprise on goal. For those familiar with Boca's Gago ... they are very similar in concept. Gago being more elegant, but in work and delivery they are quite similar.
In last year's CL home match against Chelsea, he had a HUGE game. Abramovich right away asked who is that "short" player. (What else is new) But what is even more appealing is his regularity ... game after game he delivers great performances. Either thru GolTV or torrents, I try to watch Betis solely for watching him play (now also for Sobis).
Big props to a player who deserves a place in the NT and would venture to say that Real should go after him, as Emerson looks like he is in the last months of his competitive edge.
Here to read a bit on him (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alberto_Rivera_Pizarro)
