Kay revealed that while there have been high-profile cases of gambling, drink and drug problems among professional footballers, an increasing number are now switching on their laptops and accessing pornographic websites to fill their time between playing matches and training.

'When you start going into a porn site it leads on to other porn sites and then maybe more risky material,' Kay told BBC Radio Five Live.

Five Live also interviewed an unnamed Premiership player who admitted how he had fallen foul of internet sites offering thrills of one description or another.

'You can get hooked on anything, going on one site for two minutes isn't enough,' he said.

'You don't realise how much you're spending until you see it on your bill at the end of the month.

'On porn websites you have got advertisements for the porn and you end up spending more money on there. It's kind of like kids in a sweet shop.

'We finish at lunchtimes with our jobs and you can sit there for hours on end.'

it's just so sad...we have to do something...we have to protect our players...I don't blame the players, i blame the massive porn corporations who have taken advantage of this innocent, helpless and naive part of our society

First I doubt footballers are tech savy or aware of things such as torrents!!

Second they are probably like the rest of us, they believe that if you pay for something you are getting higher quality!!!

I'm kind of shocked to read this only because I figured they'd be getting some anytime they want it... tons of ladies just dying to sleep with them so why porn?!?! I guess even having all these girls makes you want more.

I guess most of them are supposed to be dumber than most of us because the time we spend going to school and unis and browsing the net for information, they just keep playing football. :)

An interesting point. I was watching an interview with LL Cool J one time, and he talked about how he had a porn addiction for many years. He said that he could have had any girl any time, but that wasnt enough. It wasnt what he wanted. And so he watched porn, and lots of it.
I've known a couple people that have gone through rehab for porn addictions. For one of them, it almost destroyed his marriage.

Thats the site these guys used to get off of porn. They also needed people in their lives to hold them accountable, but the course was integral to them becomeing free from their addictions. I've heard of guys so addicted they've had to go into rehab centers where they're not allowed out for a year type deal. Intense stuff. It really wreaks havoc on your mind, and your soul. Not to mention your body... :(
